Damon
“Good afternoon, everyone.” I started on a professional note. “You all know why you are here, someone or all of you must have known what Luke was up to, there is certain stuff he couldn’t do on his own.” Everyone looked at each other stunned by what I just said, a few said “We really didn’t know Damon.” I zoomed in on Rodney “And you Rodney?” “What about me?” he played dumb but his whole-body language was telling the truth even the other men around the table could see what I saw. “Fuck Rodney.” One of the guys said. “Sorry Damon, I have a sick child I needed the money.” “And how much of that 30 million did you get.” There was a lot of “What the fucks’ going around the room no one could believe Luke stole 30 million. “I didn’t know it was that much.” He started. “Rodney don’t take me for a fool off course you knew how much of that money did you get?” “Nothing he was going to withdraw some of the money this month and give it to me to pay the hospital.” “And how much would that have been?” “100K” “So out of 30 million you are losing your career and reputation for 100k?” I was screaming by this stage. “Why the fuck didn’t you come to me and ask for help I would have given the 100K to you without expecting a cent back for fuck sakes Rodney.” The rest was stunned by Rodney’s behavior but also by mine screaming in front of them. I never do it I always berate you alone but this was big money and bigger shit, everyone needed to see how fucked up it was. “What are you going to do with me?” “I’m firing you Rodney and you won’t work as a trader or supervisor or in any financial business again I will make sure of that.” “How am I going to care for my family?” he started to cry but I was so over this week and over people. I think the little piece of heart I had left was also gone. “I don’t really give a fuck Rodney. Everyone you are excused. But word to the wise I’m still working through all the clients and if any of you have something to say this is your change.” No one said anything they just left. Rodney was still sitting at the conference table. “You are dismissed Rodney.” “What if I could get the money back for you?” he asked. “I already have it back Rodney.” “So, I have nothing to bargain with?” He asked. “If you told me yesterday and I didn’t have to go through the channels I did to get my money back I would have some sympathy with you but I don’t. Get your stuff and leave.” Then I walked out of the conference room. When I walked pass Dave, I told him “Make sure Rodney leaves. If he doesn’t get security to take him out.” “Okay Damon.” I walked into my office. I was busy working on the accounts when we heard something very loud coming from the conference room. I ran out, “What the fuck was that?” I asked Dave. “I have no clue.” Then we heard it again. We ran to the conference room only to find Rondey throwing a chair at the window. By the third throw the chair flew out the window. “What the fuck are you doing Rodney?” “If I can’t work anymore, I’m no use to my family.” By this time, he was standing in the broken window’s place. “Rodney please get of there, we can talk about this, maybe there is something I can do.” I pleaded with him; I didn’t want any of my staff committing suicide out of my building if I wanted him dead, he would have been in the dungeon. “Will you give me my job back?” I didn’t answer him, fuck even in this situation I couldn’t lie to the guy. “See I thought so.” Then he just fell forward. “No!” I screamed and ran to the window, like I could do anything. Dave was there with me with some of the traders that wanted to see what the commotion was all about. All I saw was Rodney’s body splashed flat on the ground from the 15th floor. “Fuck, fuck, fuck. Dave call the police.” Dave didn’t even say anything he just ran to his desk and phoned the police. Within 30 minutes there was a shit show outside my office building and inside my building. The police were questioning everyone and then came to me. “Mr. Carter, what exactly happened?” “Well, I fired him, I left him in the conference room to get himself together before he left. I was in my office when I heard a loud noise when we got to the conference room, he threw the chair against the window for the third time and that is when the window broke. I tried to talk him down but he just … he just fell forward and then he was gone.” “That was everyone’s who witness the incidents recognition. I would just ask you to come to the station and sign the statements.” “When do you want me to do that, I have another meeting in a few minutes can I come afterwords? I don’t want to sound insincere but the meeting is important.” “No, it’s okay you can come by the station on your way home, no rush. This was a clear suicide.” “Thank you, officer.” When I walked to my office, I saw the Estate agent walk up the stairs. “Hi Damon.” “Good afternoon, sorry for the mess.” “What happened?” “One of my staff committed suicide that’s why there is so many police and ambulances.” “Oh, we can reschedule if you want.” “No no it’s fine come in.” We walked to my office she took out the papers and I signed them. “Damon one other thing the owners are moving to Australia and wants to sell all their furniture, are you interested?” “How much will everything cost?” “Another million.” “Yes, we’ll take it thank you, when can we move in?” “Next week.” “That’s great thank you very much for coming to me and again so sorry about all this.” “No problem.” I walked her out and went back to my office where Ghost and Brad were waiting for me. “I don’t need more problems guys.” “Sorry Damon but...”
