Chapter 96 96
One Month Later
"Don't tell me you've been on this bed all week" Rebecca eyed me up and down as she entered into my room.
"Okay, I won't" I snuggled the duvet. For some reason, I was feeling too cold but the kind of outfit Rebecca has on tells me that it's hot out there.
"Oh goodness." Rebecca shook her head, packing up all the crunched up tissues.
"Please leave it. It's disgusting" I protested but it fell on deaf ears as Rebecca wasn't paying attention to me
"You look like shit" She sighed before leaving the room to go trash the used tissues.
"Gee, thanks" I managed to yell but ended up wincing due to the sharp pang of pain I felt at the back of my head.
What's happening to me?
"How do you feel?" Rebecca held the duvet but it turned to tug of war as I wouldn't let her bring it down. "Stop struggling! I just want to check your temperature"
Exactly what I didn't want.
"No! I don't need you to" I held onto the duvet tightly. Rebecca rolled her eyes before using all her might to drag it away. I swear I heard it shred but I want to believe I'm just hearing things wrongly.
"Jesus Christ, Vee!" Rebecca eyes widened in shock. "My hands are burning from touching your neck"
"You're just exaggerating" I rolled my eyes. "It's just small fever. Nothing a pill can't subside" I shrugged.
"Then why haven't you taken the pill and resume work?" Rebecca scoffed, pulling me up against my will. "Oh. Looks like you've not just been taking a pill but many pills." Her eyes darted to the table where empty drugs packet laid.
"I didn't take those" I smiled sheepishly. "Or no, they were all fake drugs"
"Enough please. Get your fat ass up because today is hospital day" Rebecca left my hand and walked up to my cupboard to get me something to wear.
"I've not taken my bath" I said, scratching the back of my neck.
"Well, do that" Rebecca said, her head still inside the cupboard. "I better not meet you there when I finally find the right dress or else we'll be going to the hospital with your smelly ass"
I don't like this woman at all.
"Fineee" I groaned, using all my might to stand up. I almost screamed when I saw my reflection in the mirror. No, I screamed.
I looked homeless despite the fact that I was in my home. Oh goodness!
"I'm glad you're shocked too" I heard Rebecca mock me but I decided to save my energy for bathing than exchanging words with her.

"Vanessa Willow?"
"It's me" I raised my hands lightly.
"Doctor Anderson is ready to see you now" The nurse said, scribbling something on her note.
"Thank you" I smiled at her before standing up.
"I need to take this call. Go ahead, I'll be there" Rebecca excused herself. "You better be inside that office when I get there"
How did she see through me?
Groaning, I dragged myself into the office. Doctor Anderson wasn't a stranger to me and so I'm glad I wasn't going to explain myself or give any stupid irrelevant details about myself.
"Look who finally showed up" Doctor Anderson smirked at me.
"Why?" I raised my eyebrow at him before taking my seat.
"Well, I've been trying to reach you. I don't know if you blocked my line or something" He shrugged, clasping his hands together. "You look like shit"
"Really, doctor? Thank you for your kind words" I answered sarcastically.
He chuckled. "You forgot ... Wait, why are you here?"
"I think I have a fever and everything I've been taking isn't working." I sighed tiredly. "Though I tend to feel alright during evening hours"
"Hmm!" Doctor Anderson said, walking up to me. He placed his hand on my neck before writing down something on his paper. "When did this start?"
"A week ago" I answered honestly.
"Headaches? Body pain?" He went back to take his seat
"Yeah. Bad ones" I nodded.
"When last did you have sex?" He asked, startling me
"I didn't know you were now interested in my sexual life. If it pleases you then I think one month ago" I rolled my eyes
"Well, that doesn't sound nice" Doctor Anderson chuckled, scratching his neck.
"You think lack of sex caused it?" I raised my eyebrow at him, biting my tongue so I don't laugh out.
Richard needs to hear this.
"Did you see your monthly flow last month?" He asked, his head down as he wrote down.
Thinking about it, I shook my head. "No? I... I think it skipped because of stress?"
"Or because you were off birth control" Doctor Anderson said, pushing a paper to me.
"What's this?" I picked the paper up.
"You were supposed to renew your birth control last month but you didn't show up and ..."
"So you're trying to say ...."
"Hey, Doctor Anderson!" Rebecca cut me off as she entered into the office.
"I forgot that you both always move together" Doctor Anderson rolled his eyes at Rebecca.
Rebecca and Adults do not too go. She's always a pain in their ass and it was always fun to watch
"What's wrong with my homegirl?" Rebecca asked like a thug.
"She might need to take a pregnancy test before I continue with her" Doctor Anderson dropped the bomb.
"Why.. I didn't have unprotected sex. I don't do unprotected sex without birth control" I argued.
"You'll have to prove that to us now. The ball is in your court" Doctor Anderson stretched his hand to me. In it, was a pregnancy tube.
"Urgh! I'll prove it to you then" I snatched it from his hand, walking towards the direction of his toilet.
Rebecca looked worried as she stared at me but I was the opposite of it. I wasn't bothered because I knew I wasn't pregnant.
When I was done peeing and doing all the necessary things needed for the test, I went to meet them.
"You'll check it yourself so you can see the evidence in front of you" I said proudly, passing the tube to him.
"I set a timer. Let's wait" Doctor Anderson said, looking at his wrist watch..
"Vee, you missed your period?" Becca whispered in my ears. She sounded scared.
"It's just stress" I groaned frustratedly. They were building a mountain out of nothing.
"It's time!" Doctor Anderson said, picking up the tube. "Oh well, I guess I was wrong."
I smiled, turning towards Rebecca who had the same expression on her face. "I told you that -"
"I'm kidding." Doctor Anderson cut me off, making my mouth fall open. I snatched the tube from his hand.
Two lines.
"Oh my goodness!" Rebecca panicked, taking it from me. "It's positive."
"I..."
"Holy shit! It's fucking positive" Rebecca yelled, standing up.
"What were you saying about protective sex again?" Doctor Anderson raised his eyebrow.
This was no time to joke.
"Doctor, this is wrong" I said, looking at the test tube again.
"You can do another one. And another. And another till you're satisfied." He shrugged.
"No" I shook my head not wanting to believe anything.
What will Richard say? Is he even ready for this? Oh my goodness.
"Vanessa? Vanessa, calm down please" Rebecca squeezed my hands. I was hearing her but at the same time, I was frozen. I couldn't move.
"My candid advice is that you keep that baby" Doctor Anderson said. "It's not like you're getting younger"
I didn't know what to say so I bolted out of the office, my eyes welled with tears. Oh God! What have I done to myself?
"Vanessa!" Rebecca called after me but my legs refused to stop as it continued to move fast.
The sound of my phone made me stop. I unlocked it before looking at the text.
"Oh goodness! I can't remember the last time I ran like this" She breathed heavily, trying to catch my breath.
"It's Richard" I announced, looking at the text.
"What did he say?" She asked.
"That we needed to talk"
