Richard's POV

I took a deep breath before sneaking up on Jared and Paula's conversation. I looked at Matthew who was giving me a thumbs up.

"I really don't like what you did in there, Jared" Paula said

"It's all your fault. Why do you keep coming back to him. Why?" Jared said aggressively.

"Whatever we had going on was long ago. Snap out of it" Paula whisper yelled, looking around. I quickly hid myself properly so I don't get caught

"I know you still have something there for me because why were you still coming back to -"

"Shhhh" Paula shushed him up. "Okay fine. However, I have realized my mistake"

"I'm your mistake?!" Jared snapped

"No! Jared please we can sort ourselves outside here. Let's just get over with this tonight" Paula sighed

"Then stop trying to be close to Richard if you want peace" Jared said sternly

"Why should I do that?" Paula asked

"I'm sure as hell you don't want me telling Richard that..."

"Shushhh!" She cut him off again.

"Why have you been avoiding me since" Jared asked calmly

"I wasn't avoiding you. I just want to start over" Paula said

"Then where's the child!" Jared asked

"What child?" Paula asked, shifting uncomfortably.

"I know about that child and I know that the child is -"

"Jared please. Let's drop that conversation. I lost my child okay?" Paula said

"That's not -"

"Drop it already. I will tell Richard that you're harassing me" Paula warned

"Try. I dare you" Jared laughed wickedly.

"Okay fine. Let's talk at my place sometime. We can go back to how we used to okay? But this is only between us okay?" Paula warned

"I'm watching you closely. Behave yourself, bear. You know how ugly it gets when you don't listen" Jared said

Immediately I heard their footsteps, I ran into the house quickly. I spotted Matthew and pulled him alongside with me.

"Tell me" Matthew said, locking the door behind us

"I couldn't understand what was going on. They had a relationship but I don't know if it was when we were together or after she ran away." I said, sitting down

"Yeah, I figured. He acts possessive when it comes to Paula" Matthew nodded

"They said something about a child." I said. "What if my child is alive?"

"What if it's not your child?" Matthew quickly added

"No. She also told him she lost the child but how did he know about the child before I did? Or is it another child they had after she ran away?" I paced round the room.

"You worry yourself a lot. So it's clear that something fishy is going on between them. We just need to know where Paula has been for 3 years. Have you been able to contact her parents?" Matthew asked

"Not yet. I'll see what I can do" I groaned. "Can't I just confront her? I'm sure she'll tell me since we are no longer together"

"Do you think she likes the fact that you both are not together? Huh?" Matthew scoffed. "You'll not get any honest response from her and Jared obviously won't tell you shit either. But it won't take long until Jared breaks. I would have asked you to keep being clingy to Paula but it'll hurt Vanessa"

"No, I'm not putting my relationship on the line again. I need to mend my wrongs. I don't even know why I let it get to this point. It's at the verge of being non-existent" I said

"Okay. Let's just leave this whole thing yeah? We'll wait for your private investigator to get any information about any child related to her or whatever. If it's your child, we'll surely get he/she back okay?" Matthew said, placing his hand on my shoulder.

"Thanks man." I smiled

"Time to go chill in the pool" Matthew cheered.

When we got out, the girls and Jared were already in the pool. Vanessa was chatting away with Becca while Jared and Paula were staring or rather making silent communications with each other.

"Skinny Dip!" I yelled, jumping into the water, causing a huge splash

"You need to grow up!" Matthew laughed, mimicking my actions

"Tell me about it" I said sarcastically. "Hi pretty lady." I smiled at Vanessa. "Mind if I teach you how to swim?"

"Sure" She laughed, playing along.

"Don't worry, I got you baby" I pulled her to my body, kissing her cheek.

"Babe look! I'm drowning" Vanessa joked, entering under the water.

Just when I was about to find her, she jumped up to the surface, splashing me water.

"You little-" I laughed, splashing her water too. And just like that, everyone participated in a water fight.

We swam for an hour, singing to different songs that were being played on the speaker. I felt so happy having Vanessa in my arms. As for Becca and Matthew, they were so close to ripping their swimsuits off. Jared was being Jared and Paula looked like she would be anywhere but here.

That's their business anyway.

"One more game before we go take our shower and come down for food and movie!" Matthew announced, putting off the song and disconnecting his Bluetooth from the speaker.

"Will it be a quick game?" Jared asked.

"Very quick since we're all tired. I just want to see people whipped" Matthew laughed.

"What's that?" Vanessa asked snuggling into my chest.

"Let's gather around at that spot" Matthew said, pointing at a spot before whispering to his girlfriend who cheerfully got up.

We all walked down to the spot and took out a seat each.

I miss my baby already.

"This is a self invented game. It's called whipped!" Matthew explained. He went further to explain the rules of the game to us. Apparently we get rubbed whipped cream if we don't answer something about our partner correctly.

"I'll be the one to spray it. I don't want to play." Vanessa said.

Huh?

"Richard and I can play" Paula smirked

"Wonderful!" Matthew smiled, giving me a weird look.

"I'll play with my man" Becca said, tossing the whipped cream to Vanessa.

"I'll be here" Jared said, shrugging.

"Okay, so we'll take just 5 questions. Write them down here on these papers and distribute to all of us. We'll write down our answers and if our partner answers anything contrary to what's on the paper, whip their face" Matthew laughed, handing the paper to Vanessa.

Vanessa happily took the paper, discussing with Jared on questions to ask. After writing it down, each paper was distributed to 4 of us playing the game. Once we were done answering, we returned the paper to Jared.

"Okay everybody!" Vanessa answered, smiling at us. "Question one is, what is your partner's favorite color?" She pointed at Becca and Matthew

"Purple" Matthew said, smiling at his girlfriend. Jared gave a thumbs up to indicate that he was correct

"Dark blue" Becca smirked. Jared also gave a thumbs up

"Black" Paula said proudly. Jared raised his thumb up too

It was now my turn and I didn't know what to say.

There i thought I knew her that much. How could I even let Vanessa feel like I'd choose Paula over her. I didn't really pay much attention to her favourite color because she literally liked everything then

"Richard?" Vanessa called, shaking the whipped cream
