Richard's POV
"Who ..."
The small girl looked around. She looked so much like Jared. Tears clouded my eyes as I stared at the girl. My legs gave up on me as I fell to my knee.
"Who are these people, mummy? I've missed you" The girl completed her sentence.
Paula looked around, unsure of how to act. "Angel, what are you doing here?"
"Uncle said he was going to take me you" The girl pointed at Jared.
Tears streamed down Paula's eyes. "I told you not to follow a stranger. I told you never to call me mummy in public." She yelled at the child.
Angel quaked, her lips trembled. "I'm sorry, Paula"
She fixated her eyes on the ground like that was the most interesting thing. Poor girl.
Jared frowned. "Don't ever yell at my child, Paula" He warned, pulling her close. "Thank you, Princess. Mummy and I would meet you outside okay?"
Angel nodded, running outside. She knew the place was too toxic for her to stay in.
"Wow!" Chelsea spoke out. "Vee, you're missing out"
"I like it that way. Breastfeeding is hard work already." Vanessa's voice echoed. Her voice put me at ease a bit. My heart was bitter at the thought of Vanessa, again. I needed her by my side at this point.
"Please, Richard. Believe me. I didn't mean it" Paula knelt down too, crawling towards me as she stretched her hand to touch me.
"You're evil" I told her, slapping her hand away. "You're fucking evil!" I screamed at her.
She lied effortlessly. She put the life of her child in the line. That was so cruel of her and I could never forgive her.
"Where she was 3 years ago? I'll leave that to this man" Jared tapped the shoulder of the man beside him.
Sniffing, I stood up eyeing Paula who cried her eyes out. From time to time I'd peek to see if Vanessa would be close to Chelsea.
My heart was yearning. Hearing her voice striked something in me. My heart which had felt too empty and dark for a long while had finally found light.
"She followed rich men for money. She slept around with drug dealers and dangerous men. My master has asked me to retrieve her." The man said, his Italian accent strongly evident. His tattooed arm screamed danger.
I didn't care about what happened to her when he takes her. She deserved every shitty thing.
"You can fucking take her for all we care" Sasha spoke up.
She spoke my mind.
"No! Please don't. We've not seen our child for years" Paula's mother cried
I only had one question.
"Why? Why did you do this to me?" I looked at her.
She raised her head up slowly. Rage coursed through my vein as she stared at me. "Because I love you, Richard. I wanted you to myself"
"Everything we shared had been based on lies! I was busy loving you while you were busy playing me" I screamed at her
"Richard, please. We can start over. It's you I want" She held my leg but I moved back. I didn't want her to touch me.
"You're breaking my heart here, baby" Jared said, touching her.
"Get out! You were a great mistake. I regret ever fucking you" She screamed at Jared. She admitted to it without knowing.
Oh God.
He scoffed. "Seems like you'd be away from my child's life for a long while"
Then something struck in me. Lux Dinner.
"Paula. I want you to answer my question carefully."
She nodded. "I will"
"Did you lie about us having sex at L..Lux dinner?" I wanted her to say no. Or rather, I wanted her to say yes so I wouldn't feel so bad for what I did to Vanessa.
Everyday I thought about how I denied Vanessa, I felt really bad. It was killing me.
"I didn't. We truly did. Vanessa was the bad guy. She fucked another... another man" She cried. "Believe me, please"
It didn't sound right now that she said it out loud
"You sent those packages alongside Lux Dinners CCTV footage package" it all made sense. She wanted to frame Vanessa.
"Vanessa cheated! While you were fucking me, she fucked someone else. I'm serious" She said seriously.
I couldn't believe her.
"Shut up, you liar" My mother spoke up. "You just sold yourself out"
"Don't point a finger at me if you don't have evidence" Paula yelled back at my mother before turning back to me with a sad face like she didn't just disrespect my mother.
"Enough! Enough from you, Paula" I was tired. Too tired
"Heard everything. I need to take care of Vee's child. Bye" Chelsea dropped out of the call.
Ava went to pick up her phone once the call went dead. Sasha stood up too.
"I just wanted you to myself. I love you" Paula cried.
"Let's go. Don Misach is waiting" The man said holding Paula's hand.
I placed my hands on my head. I was frustrated. This was a huge fucking blow.
"Sorry, Brother." Jared said. I eyed him up and down. Disgusting fucker.
"Get out of my house! Everyone" I screamed, pointing at the door.
"Please!" Paula kept begging, wanting to touch me but the man who held her wouldn't let her.
"I have something to say" Mateo suddenly appeared from God knows where.
What now?
Everyone halted, all standing. "What is it?" I asked through gritted teeth.
He avoided my eyes as he spoke up. "I...I didn't know it was your woman. I just .... I just wanted a good release that day"
He had not finished but I think I got the gist. I ruffled my head roughly. "Shit! Holy shit. You fucked my woman?"
Mateo shook his head. "I had no idea. She.. she was your woman"
I launched forward, gripping his shirt. "How is this supposed to make me feel? Do you know what the fuck you've done?" I yelled. "How could you sleep with Vanessa? How could you do this to me"
He raised a confused eyebrow at me. "Vanessa? I'm talking about Ms. Paula"
My fingers began to release bit by bit until I finally dragged it down. "What about her?"
"I'd kill you, Mateo. I'll kill you!" She yelled, pointing at Mateo.
"What did you do, Mateo? What did you do for this witch?" I asked, my blood boiled with anger.
He sighed before speaking. "She threw herself at me and I.. I fucked her. Then later on, she came back with pictures of us threatening to show you if I didn't do whatever she says"
Casting a death glare at Paula, I scoffed in disbelief. "I don't know what he's talking about. I swear, you have to fucking believe me"
She tried to touch me but the tattooed man held her back. I was thankful for that because I wouldn't be able to control what I'd do to her if she had touched me.
"Go on" I said to Mateo, eager to hear what he has to say.
"It's about Lux Diner" The minute he mentioned that, my heart began to pound hard in my chest. He hadn't said anything but I had begun to feel light weighted. My eyes felt heavy
"I.. I..." I launched forward at him, gripping his shirt as I forced him to look at me. Regret clouded his eyes.
I didn't want that shit now
"Vanessa didn't cheat and neither did you. It was all Paula's plan and I was involved"
That was all it took for my heart to stop beating.
