Richard POV
"It's been more than 9 months and you're still not due?" Ava scoffed as she eyed Paula who was filing her nails from where she sat.
My eyes darted to Paula. I wasn't ready to make my presence known to them yet. I also had my suspicions.
"People get pregnant for 15 months. My baby might not be there anymore, who knows?" She shrugged nonchalantly.
This seemed to get me worried. How could she be calm about this whole thing. She was pregnant for 10 months now and there was no sign of dueness.
"Yeah, I mean there was never a baby there. It's all Richards fault. He was just too blind to see thing" Ava scoffed. "Nemesis will catch up with you. Trust me"
"I don't know what you're talking about. We'd have a child soon. I'll give him that" Paula smiled at Ava.
"A child that's not yours. You just keep exposing yourself" Ava said. "Where's my brother? I have something important to tell him"
Paula sat up, now very interested. "What's it?" Ava was about to reply before Paula's phone rang. Her shoulder slumped as she turned it off.
Someone had been trying to contact her ever since but she would never reply. I had to find out what she was hiding before the media did and tarnished my name like they almost did 10 months ago.
Deciding that I was done hiding, I made my presence known. "Ava. What brings you here?"
"Hey." She sounded cold, distant even. She was till mad at me. They all were. "Vanessa gave birth a month ago and I thought I'd let you know"
My mouth opened slightly at the news. Paula and I exchanged eye contact. She stood up immediately and moved to my side. She jumped up like she wasn't pregnant.
What if they were correct and she was playing games with me?
No. No she showed me a scan result and the baby was there.
"So?" I asked her, raising my eyebrow at her.
Maybe you should see this for yourself. Ava stretched her phone towards me. I looked at it skeptically before taking it from her. "What am I looking at?"
"Wait for it"
I watched as Chelsea introduced herself as an aunt and went ahead to film the child. My hand trembled for split second when the face of the child became visible.
"He looks just like you" Ava said my thought out loud.
"What.. what do you mean?" Paula snatched the phone from my hand. "He doesn't. What if he does? It doesn't change the fact that she.. she cheated"
I grinded my teeth. "Yeah. She cheated"
I wasn't so sure anymore because I was getting these weird dreams of me fucking Vanessa. Maybe it was my body telling me it missed her touch, her feel
But why was the environment from the Lux Dinner night?
"Exactly. Please don't ever bring this to me again" I stretched the phone to Ava, turning away.
"You're so foolish! Oh goodness" Ava blurted out. I halted, turning abruptly.
"Did you just talk to me like that?" I seethed
She scoffed. "You lost my respect since the day you chose this bitch over Vanessa. Can't you see your face in that child's face?"
"Scientific study has it that a child could look like the fuck buddies of the mother. Maybe not all features but one or two. It just shows that my gene was more dominant. That's NOT my child" My voice almost faltered when I said the last sentence
Ava shook her head at me. "Good job, Paula. You got him right where you want him. I hope you never get out of here grasp until your life has been damaged beyond repair"
Just as she turned to leave, Jared strolled in. He didn't come alone. Behind him was my parents and a strange man.
Paula's eye shone as her eye connected with the man's eyes. "Babe, send them away"
Ava raised her eyebrow at Paula. I was about to do that. I looked between my parents who had confused look on their face
"Where's the Vanessa? Jared you said we were going to see Vanessa." My mother avoided my eyes. She had been avoiding me ever since.
"I said we were bringing her home" Jared said, smirking. "Take a seat everyone"
"Babe. Do something" Paula pulled my hand
"Why are y'all here?" I eyed them. "I didn't ask for any fucking family meeting and if it's to tender your regret and apology then I don't need -"
"We'd rather be in hell than be anywhere close to you" Another voice said, coming inside. It was my elder sister Sasha.
Whatever she just said sliced through my skin as I clenched my fist. "Jared, what's this?"
"A little reveal party. You don't want to miss out on this brother" He chuckled, casting a dirty look at Paula.
"Jared, we can -"
"Too late" He cut her off. When I looked at her, I became curious. She looked white as snow. Her lips quivered as she spoke.
Everyone took a seat except Jared, Paula and I. "Put Chelsea on call" Jared ordered. "The family had to be complete"
"Chels, I may have mistakenly answered your calls but it's Ava" On hearing those angelic voice after how many months, my heart softened.
Vanessa. My Vanessa.
"It's probably because she wants to see your new man, Jayden. Hey sis, what's up?" Chelsea yelled.
My nose flared as I heard 'new man'. She seriously moved on with a new man?
How could she?
"Family meeting. Something is about to go down" Ava said loudly, looking at Paula.
"Bitch, I'm sat" Chelsea and new slangs everytime. She meant she was ready.
Ava positioned the phone in a good spot and switched to video call. Chelsea was now involved. I tried to sneak a peek into her environment. My eyes searched for Vanessa but I just couldn't see her.
"I knew you'd be here so I moved. You can stop searching for her" Chelsea spat, eyeing me. I moved my eyes away from the screen immediately.
"Shall we start?" Jared smirked at everyone. "I'll tell you all who Paula is"
