Chapter 23

*Angel*

We were finally on the plain after an hour of waiting in the lobby of the airport. Apparently Gray had provided us with first class tickets which I am very thankful for because we all get to be comfortable during this 11, almost 12 hour flight. Before coming to the airport, we made a pit stop at my apartment so I could pack a few things. I even changed into a onesie and grabbed myself a neck pillow for extra comfort. I was now in my seat, next to My eldest brother Jaheem. He was already knocked out, asleep an hour in and so was my other brother who was seated next to Smiley.

Meanwhile, I couldn't get Gray out of my mind for a second, I was so heart broken by their words. But, I also was still so deeply in love with them. I didn’t want to become the second bella swan and act how she had done when Edward had oeft her. I didn’t want to be or feel sad and depressed while im supposed to be enjoying an expensive vacation to Sedona of all places. Maybe this was a good thing, maybe I’d get over them if I stayed away from them for a month.

Maybe I’d even meet someone new, that was always a possibility. I had a window seat, so I was able to lose myself in my thoughts while looking out of the window at all the tiny little places as we flew over the clouds. Earth was honestly beautiful from the sky point of view, i felt like a bird soaring theough the sky at the moment. Honestly, i was starting to envy the birds of this world. They were truly free spirits, and weren’t bound to anything, not even the ground like I was.

They got to choose whether or not they were grounded unless it was due to an injured wing. Everyday, they got to see this beautiful point of view, this magnificent and enchanting point of view that I am only witnessing for the first time ever. As the hours went by, and i still was drawn into my envious imagination and thoughts, I had forgoten to take notes of places we could visit in Sedona before the flight was over. I was the only one to do it since everyone else had taken the time of the flight to sleep, but I lost myself and just forgot. And now, the flight had come to an end without me doing anything of what I had planned or decided to do.

Well, I still had time to do it in the Hotell I assumed Gray had set us up at. The plane had soon landed, and everyone was unloading to go and grab their luggage. Now in the airport of Sedona, i had my luggage and my family and friend, Kyle with me. “So, do you know where we are staying Cupcake?” Kyle asked, standing next to me as we looked for the person who would be holding up a sign with my name printed on it, which my eyes soon found.

“Um…No, G-Scar I mean didn’t tell me. They just told me, Vacation to Sedona and that’s it.” I gestured for everyone to follow me to the large bulky man in a suit who was calmly holding up a sign that soelled my name, I greeted him and he did the same to me before leading me out of the airport and to a limousine that was parked out front. “Damn, even in Sedona you are going to be living the rich girl life huh.” Kyle grinned before climbing into the limousine with his suitcase in hand and finding himself a comfortable seat.

“I knew it! There’s liquor!” Kyle exclaimed in excitement, everyone had climbed into the limousine, and I was the last to get in since I decided to wait for everyone else. Then the limousine pulled off and was on its way. A few minutes into the drive, I recieved a call from Grat which I hesitantly answered and brought the phone up to my ear. “

“Hello?” I answered slowly.

“Princess, you made it to Sedona yet?”

“Yes I did Gray, what do you want?”

“Damn, I can’t check on you Angel?”

“You don’t need to. Aren’t you supposed to be too busy right now?” My eyes narrowed as I spoke, and turned to lean into the door. My family and Kyle were currently celebrating, drinking the Liquor and eating the snacks that were left out for us.

“Babygirl, don’t be like that.”

“Scar, if you don’t need anything, im going to hang up.”

“Alright, alright. I called to let you know that you will he staying in one of the two luxury homes that I have in Sedona. They both have a pool, and both are kind of secluded away from people. So A or B?”

“Which ones A, and which ones B?”

“ A is located in Altair Ave. It’s only a 4 bedroom house with two stories, so someone other than your parents would have to share. I already requested for you to have your own bedroom though. B is a 5 bedroom, two story house, located in 46- Big Park. It’s the better option since everyone would get their own room, and there is horse back riding along with other activities for you and your family to enjoy. Take your pick princess.”

“B. Is that all?”

It went silent on Gray’s line for almost a minute before they spoke again. My heart dropped to the pit of my stomach at their next words, I was and was not surprised, but even more I was hurt. I was conflicted with their, what seemed to be conflicted feelings.

“I miss you Angel, already….”

My lips quivered, as if I were about to cry, and I hung up the phone without a word. I missed them too, but I was angry with them. They sent me away, so why would I return their words of affection. “Angy, are you ok pumpkin?” I heard my moms voice call to me as she, with caution climbed over to the seat next to me in the moving limousine and sat down, a glass of wine in her hand. “Im good mama, just enjoy yourself.”

“Was that Scar? On the phone I mean,” Bringing the edge of the cup to her lips, she took a slow sip, her eyes staying on me as she waited for an answer. Gray was the last person I wanted to talk about right now, I wanted to keep them off of my mind the whole vacation. To be honest, I even wanted to block their number, but I couldn’t bring myself to. “It was, but they are the last person I want to talk about, ok?”

“Pumpkin…” My mothr began, placing her glass between her legs and covering the top of it with the palm of her hand to keep it from spilling anywhere. “Im guessing you two are having relationship troubles already hm?” My mothers New york accent was thick and strong in her words, it was soothing to my ears in a way. I nodded, fiddling with my fingers as I often did when I was feeling overwhelmed. “We aren’t in a relationship though, and I doubt we ever will be. I just wish I could get over them, and I was thinking this vacation would act as the key to do that.”

“Angel, are you running away already? Baby, every relationship, even the ones that aren’t yet official have their rocky paths they have to get through. These things take time, and running away from your feelings toward someone else won’t make things better. You have to…hit them head on without fear.”

“Well, I have mom, and obviously it didn’t work. They said something about them not being able to make it official yet until things are calmer for them, or whatever. They are just making excuses.”

“Maybe what they say is true. I don’t believe someone who is just keeping you around, would go out of their way to meet your family on their own, be truthfull about what they do to them, and then send them on a very expensive vacation would do any of those things if they didn’t love you. I’m sure they want to be with you, especially if they just called to check up on you baby, to make sure you got here safely.”

I bit my lip at her her words, wiping away the few tears that trickled down my cheeks as my lips quivered. “Pumpkin, if you really don’t want to talk about them, and wish to keep them off of your mind then do that, just don’t do anything you will regret in the end.” My mom then pulled me into a gentle embrace, hugging me. “Now, tell me about where we are going, im just dying to know.” Her curiosity got a giggle out of me while I wiped away the last of my tears.

“You’ll see when we get there, I don’t know all of the details about it myself.”
