Everyone had been thrilled over the news as we told them we had got a go for forming a pack. I was feeling amazing as I kissed Tite. She was to go with her aunt to plan the ceremony that would create the pack ground and then the ceremony to make us Alpha and Luna. I was heading toward the front door. Tite’s father had asked me to go on a walk. I knew it was his way of asking me to talk to him in private and I was a little nervous about it. I rounded a corner and saw Kendra walking in my direction. I hadn’t seen much of her since the morning she had given the public apology to Tite. I looked down the hall and focused on just getting past her. 

“Nash,” she said and smiled. A shiver ran down my spine, only Tite called me that. 

“Kendra,” I said as coldly as I could. 

“Oh, don’t be like that. You and I should be besties,” she told me.

“How the fuck did you reach that conclusion? I asked. She was clearly delusional. 

“Because we are the only two humans around,” she said as if it was obvious. 

“There are more of my pack here than me,” I said and had to smile at how easily I had started to think of the club as a pack. “And you are only half human,” I pointed out. She huffed and took a couple of steps closer to me. I took one step back. She was up to something. 

“Maybe, but I feel like all human. I don’t need all of this pack-shit or Alphas telling me what to do. I belong out there in the human world. You know what I mean, right?” she asked and gave me a smile that probably was supposed to be flirty, but looked a little unhinged. 

“You really haven’t paid attention. Tite and I are in the middle of forming our own pack. I don’t have anything against pack life,” I told her. She giggled, which made me feel even more uncomfortable. Uncomfortable enough to mindlink Tite and tell her that Kendra was up to something. 

‘On my way,’ she answered me. 

“Oh, honey, that is that dreadful Tite forcing her ways on to you. She doesn’t understand us humans, she is too much wolf and too much witch. I know what a man like you need,” Kendra told me. When had she moved so close? Her hand went up to caress my neck and I slapped it away and moved backward. It felt like my skin was crawling where she had touched me. 

“Get the fuck away from me!” I shouted. 

“Don’t be like this. I will show you a really good time. I can be really submissive if you want. My wolf doesn't object, she lets my human side do what it wants most of the time. I can let you be all the man you need to be,” she said. She was slowly walking towards me and I was backing away. I knew that whatever she said, she was half werewolf and therefore stronger and faster than I. I needed to keep an eye on her. She reached out for me again and I was readying to shake her hand off again. 

“I don’t think so, you fucking bitch! You keep your filthy hands of my mate!” Tite growled and swiped at Kendra’s hand. Kendra yelped and drew it back, cradling it against her chest with her other hand.

“You clawed me!” she screamed. 

“Of course I fucking clawed you! You tried to touch my mate. You are lucky the only thing I did was claw your hand. I should fucking kill you,” Tite hissed. As her aunt, Bones and her father came around the corner, she turned to me. “Are you okay?” she asked. 

“I’m fine,” I told her while scratching the skin on my neck. She noticed and took my hand away.

“Don’t hurt yourself,” she told me. 

“It’s itchy and weird,” I confessed. 

“She touched you,” Tite said, she leaned in and placed a kiss on my neck. It felt better at once. Then she licked the area and finished with a kiss. “Better?” she asked in a whisper. 

“Much, but now we have another issue,” I told her and pulled her flush with my body to let her know what the issue was. She giggled. 

“You will have to solve that on your own. We have serious things to do. Now focus,” she told me. As she took a step back and the surroundings became real again, I saw Mara had joined the group of people now gathered around us.

“She clawed my daughter!” Mara was screaming. “I have told you for years that she is unstable and dangerous. No one ever listens to me, but look at what she has done!” I felt my anger rise. She was blaming Tite? I didn’t care who she was, I would protect Tite in any way I could. I was about to walk over to Mara when Tite put a hand on my arm and shook her head. 

“I did claw her and I will do it again if she tries to touch Nash,” Tite said. 

“She admits it!” 

“Shut up! This is not the place to have this discussion,” Tite’s father told his mate. “Tite, are you saying Kendra tried to hurt your mate?” he then asked. 

“I don’t think she was going to hurt him. I think she was trying to sleep with him,” Tite told him. I could tell it was bad by the reaction of her father and Mara. Mara looked with genuine worry on her daughter. Even Tite’s aunt looked shocked. 

“Ulf asks us to go to his office,” Tite’s father said. I put my arm around Tite, I wanted her close to me, and we all walked down to his office in silence. There were some quiet sobs from Kendra that broke the silence. As we knocked and entered Ulf’s office, he, Amber, Henning and Ida were already sitting at the conference table. 

“Sit,” Ulf said. 

“Yes, Alpha,” we all said and took a seat. 

“Kendra, tell me what happened today between Wolf and yourself,” Ulf told her. She was still clutching her injured hand and sobbing. No one seemed to have asked, or offered, to at least have it bandaged. 

“I was walking to my room and then I saw Na.. Wolf walking towards me. We talked a little, just regular courtesy things at first. Then he told me about how Tite was forcing him to form a pack and how trapped he felt by it. As part human, I could understand him and I was reaching out to comfort him when Tite came out of nowhere and clawed my hand. She was so mean to me. Please, Alpha, I just want her to leave me alone,” Kendra said. I was angry again. It took all my self control not to stand up and call her out. I had to trust that Ulf would see through her. 

“Interesting. Wolf, is that what happened?” Ulf asked me. 

“It’s not even fucking close,” I said and then I told them what had really happened. 

“She touched you and suggested that you sleep together?” Amber asked. She sounded horrified by the thought. 

“Yeah,” I said and my hand was reaching for my neck. Tite took it in hers and placed a quick kiss on my neck. 

“He must be lying,” Mara objected. “Kendra would never do something like that. She would never go after someone’s mate and even if she did, why would she go after a human?” she asked. 

“You need to watch your mouth. My patience is wearing thin with you as it is. Let’s not forget that humans were good enough for you at one point,” Tite said to her. The silence in the room was oppressing. Tite had told me it was a subject no one spoke about.

“What did you say?” Mara asked. 

“Like it’s a secret? Kendra is half human. There is only one reason that would be. Her father has to be human. I’m not judging. I kind of have a thing for humans as well,” Tite told her and winked at me. “What I do have an issue with is you sitting on your high horse and judging others. How do you think it makes Kendra feel when all you do is talk down about humans? Oh fuck, now I’m defending her,” Tite said and looked unhappy. 

“Enough!” Ulf demanded. “Kendra, don’t make me do to you what my father did barely a week ago in this very room. Tell me; Did you try to sleep with Wolf, knowing he had a mate?” Ulf asked. I didn’t feel the overwhelming power I had felt when Jacob had used what Tite called his Alpha power. 

“Yes,” Kendra said and it looked like she deflated. “Please don’t use the Alpha power on me. I admit it.”

“That is just… horrible,” Amber said. 

“Disgusting,” Henning sneered. 

“Have you no self worth?” Ida asked. 

“Stop it!” Mara shouted. 

“I don’t see the big deal. So he’s Tite’s mate, so what? In the human world mates aren’t a thing. You can sleep with whomever you like. It’s fine as long as both are into it. Why do I have to respect some old bond?” Kendra asked. 

“Pathetic! The mate bond is sacred,” Tite’s father told Kendra. 

“This breaks pack law. It will be brought before the elders and they will make a decision. Until then, you are to be held in the cells,” Ulf ordered. 

“The cells?!” both mother and daughter shouted. 

“That is my decision,” Ulf insisted. Two warriors entered the room and took Kendra away. 

“We will head back to our room,” Tite said. She didn’t wait for permission, or to reschedule what we had planned to do. She took my hand and we walked out of the room.
