Arthur could only stare at what Eve was doing. For the umpteenth time he felt very surprised by the attitude of the woman who had once been his fiancée. Arthur really didn't expect Eve to be this aggressive towards a man who caught her attention, no matter if he was a newcomer.
"Artha, why are you just staring at me like that? Don't you like me?" Eve got up and stepped towards Arthur in a deliberately swaying manner.
If it were any other man, he would definitely be tempted at Eve's current appearance and demeanor. But for Arthur, who had been betrayed and thrown into the abyss by that woman, of course this situation was very nauseating for him. Dealing with Eve under normal circumstances already makes it difficult for him, let alone under unusual circumstances like now.
"Oh my, isn't there any help from the system?" Arthur asked silently. He felt disgusted if he had to actually touch Eve, even if it was for the sake of his revenge mission.
Suddenly the system screen lit up again and showed Arthur two choices.
"SPEND ONE NIGHT WITH THE TARGET AND GET A BONUS OF 50,000 DOLLARS.
'FULFILL THE TARGET'S WISH WITH THE HELP OF THE ILLUSIONARY POWER OF THE SYSTEM. NO BONUS.
Without much thought, Arthur immediately chose the second option. Instantly the system light that only he could see came into Eve's head. The illusory power of the system seemed to start working on the woman.
Eve acted like she was making out with a man. Even her body could float and land on the bed as if someone was carrying her. The sighs and stifled screams that came out of the woman's mouth further convinced Arthur that Eve was really under the influence of the illusion. Of course Eve felt that she was doing something exciting with Arthur Wang.
Arthur slowly slipped out onto the balcony of his hotel room. He took out the cigar he had previously found in Arthur Wang's suitcase and lit the end of it. He really needed to smoke it for a moment to calm down a bit.
"Crazy woman," Arthur hissed as he took a drag on the cigar in his hand, then exhaled the resulting smoke into the air.
Arthur felt a little astonished. This was his first time smoking a cigar, but why was he so good at it, as if he had done it many times? Was it an automatic adaptation created by the system as well? Ah, never mind. Everything is not important now. The most important thing was how to deal with Eve after tonight.
Before we knew it, a few moments had passed by. Arthur had already finished a cigar without realizing it.
"Heh, since when do I like smoking this stuff when I'm stressed?" The man muttered to himself. After it was enough for him to get out of Eve's way, he went back inside the hotel room.
For a moment Arthur was taken aback by the current atmosphere in the room. The bed and sofa looked very messy. Eve's clothes were scattered everywhere and she seemed to have fallen asleep on the bed without wearing anything.
"Oh my!" Upon realizing it, Arthur immediately looked away while letting out a rough sigh. The man then picked up the blanket lying on the floor and covered Eve's body still while scowling in the other direction.
"What have you been doing here by yourself, bitch? Looks like your illusion is really amazing, huh?" Arthur muttered under his breath in disgust. If only he didn't have to obey the instructions given by the system, of course he would choose a harsh and painful way of revenge for this traitorous woman in front of him.
"Artha ...." Eve suddenly opened her eyes and smiled at Arthur.
Arthur was a little surprised to be caught looking at Eve with a bad expression. He had also sworn before. Luckily, Eve didn't seem to realize it. Arthur immediately fixed his face and smiled as sweetly as possible.
"I overslept. My body is so tired." Eve squirmed.
"Why am I the only one who feels tired? How come you're still fresh and you hardly look presentable anymore? It's really not fair. How can your stamina be so good like that?" she asked Arthur later with a slight sneer. The language he used changed to a casual one.
"You should exercise more." Arthur replied simply. Inwardly he was relieved that his charade was not discovered, although on the other hand he was also amused by Eve at this time. It seemed that Eve's illusion really felt real, to the point that she was exhausted.
Eve stretched out her hand, signaling Arthur to come closer to her.
Inevitably, Arthur complied with her wishes. He sat on the edge of the bed despite his reluctance. As much as possible, he also smiled so as not to show his true heart.
Eve immediately put her arms around Arthur's neck.
"Artha, I think I've really fallen in love with you," Eve whispered in Arthur's ear, making his hair stand on end.
Arthur slowly removed Eve's arms from around his neck while doing his best to keep a smile on his lips. Apart from feeling uncomfortable and disgusted, he was astonished and amazed at the same time. How could she say she was in love with a man she had just met in a matter of hours.
"You may feel that my words are just nonsense, but that's the truth. You've really stolen my heart even though we don't really know each other," Eve continued, as if she could guess Arthur's train of thought at the moment.
Arthur remained silent and did not respond to Eve's expression of feelings. If it was true that this woman in front of him had fallen in love with him, it meant that he would be easier to use. Isn't that great? Just pretend to welcome Eve's feelings, then use her as a tool to destroy Dave.
"When compared to your fiancé, am I nothing? My company is not as big as the Great Food Company. He also seems to love you very much and must treat you very well. Your fiancé is a perfect man. How can I believe that you're really in love with me? I actually feel very happy to hear your confession, but it's too hard for me to believe." Arthur finally answered as if he also wanted Eve.
The look on Eve's face instantly turned serious at Arthur's words.
"She's not that perfect, Artha. She's not what she seems...." Eve replied somewhat restrainedly. The woman looked like she was about to say more, but she didn't.
"What does that mean?" asked Arthur.
Eve shook her head.
"I can't tell you, but it's clear that she's not what you say she is. At first, I also thought that he genuinely loved me, but later I found out that he was just using me. He'll only be nice when I do what he wants," Eve said with a bit of sadness.
Arthur's brow furrowed slightly. He couldn't guess exactly what had happened between Eve and Dave, but it seemed that his half-brother had disappointed Eve.
"I still don't understand what you're saying now. But whatever it is, don't conclude your current feelings for me as love. It's very likely that it's just a momentary feeling." Arthur pretended not to understand what Eve was saying.
"No, please don't say that. I know very well what I feel. Since you helped me earlier, I immediately knew that you were my savior. You must be the one who can take me away from Dave." Eve replied quickly while grasping Arthur's wrist firmly.
"You want me to take you away from your own fiance?" Arthur asked. He really didn't understand Eve's current train of thought. She had betrayed herself for Dave, and now asked a stranger to take her away from him? What exactly did she want?
"I will help you get cooperation with Dave, and then I will also help you get Dave's secrets. But promise me, you will make Dave lose his power and can't do anything to me." Eve turned to grasp Arthur's fingers tightly.
"What?" Arthur couldn't understand what Eve was saying. After betraying herself, was this woman about to betray Dave too? Was she a traitor specialist?
"Artha, I know that you are a good person. Please save me from that man." Eve pleaded as she hugged Arthur.
Arthur was silent for a few moments, then smiled asymmetrically. Now he understood what Eve was doing. She was trying to gain his sympathy and wanted to use him to get rid of Dave. Apparently, the assets that the two of them took from Arthur were not properly divided by Dave, so Eve was dissatisfied.
"Alright, I'll play your game, Eve. Let's see how far you want to use me. But it looks like I'll be the one using you more." Arthur muttered to himself as he returned Eve's hug.
using you more." Arthur muttered to himself as he returned Eve's hug.
