Arthur watched the television broadcast which was currently showing the latest news. The dramatic arrest of Chloe Greens was making headlines that had been airing since early this morning. After an in-depth investigation, there is some evidence that leads to Chloe, making her a suspect for the planned evil actions she has committed against Arthur Greens and his biological mother.
After being questioned by investigators, Chloe admitted that she had planned everything alone with the help of several subordinates. She also admitted that her son was not involved in this plan.
Arthur turned off the television broadcast while chuckling.
"Looks like you want to protect your useless son until the end, huh?" Arthur muttered as if he was talking to Chloe. It turned out that the cunning woman still had a maternal side too, even if it was shown in the wrong way.
The problem was now gradually being exposed. Dave's carelessness and stupidity as the leader of the company has also been clearly seen. But strangely, the man still did not step down from the position of director. Perhaps because he is still the largest shareholder and there is no suitable candidate to replace him, that's why he hasn't fallen yet.
As for the Great Food Company itself, there's no question about its current condition. It's in chaos. Not a single big project has been acquired in the past few months, since being under Dave's leadership. Competent employees who have been laid off have made the company even worse off. The stock price continues to plummet, so many shareholders are desperate to sell their shares because they don't want to lose more money.
Great Food Company was dying. It was just waiting for its leader to declare bankruptcy.
Arhur had been relaxing a lot these past few days. He didn't do much work anymore because everything was almost done. Soon, Arthur would reach his destination.
While still relaxing, Arthur heard someone ringing his doorbell. He immediately got up and checked who had come.
"Madam?" Arthur gasped and was stunned for a few moments to find Liliana coming to his house.
"Hi, Mr. Wang. Am I disturbing you?" Liliana asked Arthur.
"Oh, no, no." Arthur shook his head quickly. Of course he wasn't bothered in the slightest. He was just wondering how Liliana could come to his house by herself when she had never given him her address.
"Please come in, ma'am. Sorry for the mess, I haven't had time to clean up," Arthur said later as he made way for Liliana to come inside.
"Mr. Wang's house is immaculate for a single man," Liliana said.
"I am honored to have your compliments, madam." Arthur smiled.
"Please have a seat." Arthur invited his mother to sit down.
Liliana sat on a sofa that Arthur had previously sat on while watching television.
"Just a moment, ma'am." Arthur left Liliana in the kitchen for a moment, then returned with a glass of orange juice and some fresh fruit.
"Please drink up, ma'am," Arthur said as he placed the juice and fruit in front of Liliana.
"No need to bother, Mr. Wang. I just had breakfast at home," Liliana said.
"Ah, yes, I forgot. You're back home now, yes." Arthur responded.
A few days ago, Liliana had indeed returned home, no longer living in the safe house as before. Unfortunately, Arthur was unable to take his mother back home as there were important matters he had to discuss with Joe at the time.
"Yes, I have returned home. It's great to be back living at home after all this time. I miss every corner of my house," Liliana said.
"That's good. I'd like to visit sometime so I can eat roast turkey again," Arthur joked.
"If Mr. Wang wants, I'll make a special roast turkey for him right away," Liliana said.
"I was just joking." Arthur felt bad, even though he really wanted to eat the food his mother had made.
"By the way, I don't think I've ever told Madame my home address. How did you know it and get here without getting lost?" Arthur changed the subject.
"I asked the servant who was guarding my house the other day." Liliana replied.
"The servant who was guarding the house? How did he know, he hasn't even been here yet?" muttered Arthur in a low tone. He patted his own forehead as he remembered that the servant who guarded Liliana's house the other day was not a real servant, but a servant projected by the system. Of course the servant would know what was being asked because he had gotten his source of information from the system.
"Mr. Wang, I'd like to thank you very much for the kindness you've shown me. If you hadn't helped me, I might not be in such good health right now," Liliana said and then explained the purpose of her visit to Arthur's house.
"You don't need to thank me like this, ma'am. I wasn't much help." Arthur responded.
"Mr. Wang has helped so much but still says he didn't help so much." Liliana looked rather uncomfortable.
"As my thanks, please accept this, Mr. Wang." Liliana handed Arthur a paper bag she was carrying.
Arthur could not refuse. He thanked her, then took out the contents of the paper bag. It was a sweater knitted using woolen yarn.
"I made it myself. I hope Mr. Wang likes it," Liliana said.
"Thank you, ma'am. It's such a hassle for you," Arthur said unpleasantly.
"No trouble at all. In fact, I had so much fun making it that I didn't even feel tired at all." Liliana denied it.
Arthur tried on Liliana's sweater and smiled happily. It fit his body perfectly. The color combination was also a feast for the eyes. Liliana was very good at making them.
"It's very comfortable, ma'am. It's still cold even though it's spring," Arthur said.
"I'm glad Mr. Wang likes it." Liliana murmured happily again.
"Oh yes, Mr. Wang, besides wanting to thank you, I came here because I have something to ask you," Liliana said later.
Arthur was silent for a moment. Trying to guess what his mother was going to ask about.
"Please, ma'am. What would you like to ask?" Arthur asked.
"Well, according to the news broadcast on television, it is said that the case of Arhtur's disappearance has begun to be uncovered, right? Chloe is also now in prison. So when will Arthur be back?" Liliana asked. She missed her son so much already. She didn't know how long they would be separated.
"I hope you can be patient, ma'am. Right now everything is starting to be uncovered one by one. But this is just the beginning, ma'am. Only Chleo was arrested, while Dave is still at large. Eve also seems to be hiding herself right now. Everything is not really finished yet," Arthur said trying to explain.
"So Arthur can only come back when everything is really over, huh?" asked Liliana in a tone that sounded a little disappointed.
"Yes, I think so. When the problem has been uprooted along with its roots, then it can be considered a success," Arthur explained.
Liliana just nodded with some concern. Of course, she was very afraid that if everything was over, Arthur wouldn't come back.
"Believe me, ma'am, Arthur also wants to come back quickly so that he can be with ma'am again, but as I said earlier, everything is not really finished yet. It's still a work in progress," Arthur said.
"Yes, I understand. Actually, I don't want to feel sad, but I feel sad all by myself." Liliana muttered.
"It's okay, ma'am. It's natural to feel sad because you miss your son so much. But all you can do now is be patient." Arthur smiled and tried to comfort Liliana.
"By the way, why isn't Dave currently under arrest like his mother?" Liliana asked.
"It's because Chloe stood up for Dave. She admitted all the wrongdoings as her own and Dave claimed to know nothing." Arthur explained.
"Are the police going to take Chloe's word for it?" Liliana asked again.
Arthur shook his head. "Of course not. Right now the police are looking for evidence. If new evidence involving Dave is found, he will definitely be arrested, no matter how much Chloe tries to protect him."
Liliana nodded. She silently prayed that the police would soon find new evidence that would lead to Dave joining his mother in prison.
"And Eve? What about that woman? She also had a big hand in carrying out Arthur's asset transfer plan. Will she get away with it?" Liliana asked again.
"No, ma'am. She will not escape punishment. If he can evade the police, but he won't be able to evade the other punishments." Arthur replied with a slightly different twinkle in his eye than before.
From the information obtained by Arthur, Eve is currently under the protection of Nathan White. It is likely that Eve is now the mistress of this dangerous man.
Nathan White is known as a figure who keeps many mistresses. When he likes the woman, then he will treat her very well like treating a princess. However, if he was bored, he would not hesitate to torture her when she made the slightest mistake.
Every one of Nathan White's mistresses had experienced that. And Eve was just waiting for her turn.
