"You will lose your chance to succeed if you keep missing time." The system's voice woke Arthur up.
Although reluctant, Arthur finally quickly ran after the snatcher who took Eve's cell phone.
"Huh, what the hell is this? Why did my breathing become labored just because I ran for a while?" Arthur grumbled slightly with his breath caught in his throat. He was a pretty good runner before, but why did he suck so badly now?
Arthur soon remembered that now he was not Arthur Greens, but Arthur Wang. Apparently not only had his skin become paler, but his endurance had also decreased drastically.
"USING SYSTEM ASSISTANCE NOW.
Arthur immediately agreed to the command displayed by the system screen. Instantly, his feet became light and his running became faster. In just a few seconds, he managed to pull off the shirt worn by the snatcher.
"Feel this!" Arthur delivered a punch right to the snatcher's face, but it wasn't just the snatcher who felt pain, Arthur himself felt the same. The man's hand immediately felt like it was going to break from hitting too hard.
"Ah, shit!" Arthur waved his hand for a moment, then returned to hitting the snatcher who was about to get up.
For a few moments, Arthur fought with the snatcher, until finally the snatcher chose to leave Eve's cell phone behind.
"You bastard! Why did you have to interfere?" The mugging man swore before running away.
Arthur was equally annoyed. He grimaced holding the corner of his injured lip, before picking up Eve's cell phone lying on the sidewalk. The screen was still on. It looked like Eve's phone call hadn't ended yet.
"Eve! Eve! What happened?" Dave's voice came from the cell phone.
Arthur wasn't interested in talking to his asshole sister. He ended the phone call, and even turned off the phone immediately. Then, Arthur walked towards Eve who was standing in the distance with a worried face. He had to return the cell phone to its owner even though he was reluctant. I swear to God, if it weren't for the system's orders, Arthur wouldn't have gone to the trouble of snatching it out of the snatcher's hands. In fact, if he was allowed to, he would have strangled Eve at the exact moment she passed in front of him.
"Here's your cell phone, Miss," Arthur said as he handed Eve's cell phone to its owner.
"Thank you very much, sir. You have no idea how much this means to me," Eve said with a beaming face. She smiled beautifully. If only Arthur hadn't remembered her cruel betrayal, he would have been mesmerized by her again this time.
"You're welcome," Arthur said in a not-so-friendly tone. He knew very well what Eve meant by saying her cell phone was so valuable. There was definitely a lot of important evidence inside that thing regarding the evil plan to harm her.
Evidence? Arthur's eyes seemed to light up instantly. If he could get evidence from Eve's cell phone, wouldn't his revenge be easier?
However, before Arthur could do anything, the system screen lit up again.
'THE MISSION IS NOT YET FULLY COMPLETED. LEAVE A GOOD IMPRESSION ON THE TARGET AND CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE NEXT MEETING.
"What?" Arthur was shocked again. He thought his mission this time was over because he had successfully returned Eve's cell phone. Apparently there was a pretty tough follow-up mission for him, considering how disgusted he was with the girl by now.
"Sir?"
Eve's voice woke Arthur up again.
"Are you okay? I'm sorry that indirectly, I've made you become like this." Eve apologized with an apologetic look on her face. The expression that had always been able to melt Arthur's heart, but now looked very sickening.
"It's okay. It's not a problem." Arthur waved his hand. He really wanted to leave, but he had to complete the mission from the system. Although so far, he also didn't know what bonuses he would get after successfully completing the mission.
"Your face is injured, sir. We should treat it first. Come with me to the hospital." Eve made an offer.
"No need. I'm not hurt so badly that I need to go to the hospital." Arthur refused.
"But it still needs to be treated immediately to prevent infection."
Arthur sighed for a moment, trying to hold himself together.
"There seems to be a convenience store right ahead. There must be medicine for wounds," Arthur said as he pointed to a convenience store not far from where they were standing.
"Alright, let's go there." Eve invited Arthur politely.
Inevitably, Arthur went to the convenience store with Eve. He just sat on a bench outside the convenience store, while Eve went inside to buy some wound medicine.
Not long after, the girl returned with a bag of groceries.
"Let me help you clean your wound first, sir," Eve said as she sat in front of Arthur. The girl took out a container of cotton wool and antiseptic liquid.
"Let me do it." Arthur took the initiative to treat himself before Eve did. He didn't want the sneaky girl to touch him.
"Don't forget to use this ointment, so that your wounds heal quickly and don't leave marks," Eve said with a smile.
"Yes, thank you."
"I should be the one thanking you. You helped me to get hurt like this. I don't know how to repay your kindness."
Arthur stopped his hand movements for a moment, then smiled asymmetrically. If he had not experienced it himself, he would not have thought that the sweet mouth of the girl in front of him was so poisonous.
"I'm just doing what I'm supposed to do. Anyone else would have done the same." Arthur said.
"No, they wouldn't. There were many people who witnessed the incident, but only you took the initiative to help me." Eve made a little sad face.
Again, Arthur felt that his stomach was about to burst out at the expression Eve was showing at this moment. He also has no intention of helping if it is not a mission from the system.
"In that case, how about you treat me to dinner today?" Arthur finally had the idea to complete the mission from the system.
"Yes, of course. Tell me where Master wants to have dinner?" Eve responded enthusiastically.
"The restaurant at XXX hotel of course. I happen to be staying there," Arthur said.
"Very well. I'll come around seven in the evening."
Arthur nodded while trying to appear friendly, although all that appeared was a stiff and slightly ghastly smile.
"Now that should be a successful mission, right?" Arthur muttered to himself.
