Arthur, with his intelligence, managed to take advantage of the situation to control Eve and utilize her in his plan for revenge against Dave. Even though his actions may be immoral, he still takes advantage of the situation for his personal benefit.
Meanwhile, Eve, who is still too wrapped up in the attention and support that Arthur provides, does not realize that she is actually being manipulated for Arthur's own benefit. She still believes that Arthur is a reliable ally, without realizing the ulterior motives behind his actions.
A week passed, and Dave was still waiting for news from the construction company that would be working on the new factory. Until the unwanted news came again.
"What? Are you sure that the information you provided is valid?" Dave stood up with his eyes glaring.
"That's right, sir. The company that our company is working with is a fictitious company. In fact, the company has long ceased operations," explained a man on the other end of the line who was none other than Dave's man.
"Shit!" Dave threw his cell phone against the wall until it crumbled.
Dave was frustrated. His head was about to explode. At a time when his company's financial situation was unstable, he was in trouble again because he was deceived by a fictitious company recommended by Eve, his fiancée.
In his room, Dave raged again, venting all his emotions. Dave was still reeling when he found out that the construction company they were working with was just a small company that had never handled large-scale construction. The evidence presented by one of the Great Food Company officials made him feel even more depressed. Even worse was the news that the construction project would not be carried out, even though he had disbursed 10 million dollars as an initial payment.
"What the hell is this? I still can't believe that the company recommended by Eve is just a fictitious company? Then, what will happen to the money I've invested there? I'm not willing! I don't want this company to be destroyed! Eve, where are you!" Dave shouted crazily. All the items that had been neatly organized on his desk were moved down into pieces.
Outside the room, Secretary Lan let out another long sigh. The rumor about the fictitious company had already reached his ears. Of course, he already knew the exact cause of Dave's anger without having to ask in and get Dave's wrath again.
'It's also his fault after all. Many people have told you, sir. But, you still persist with your decision. I'm not sure this company will last long.' Secretary Lan muttered to herself as she stared at the computer screen, doing the work Dave had given her.
Dave seemed to be getting worse at the situation he was in. Losing a large sum of money and being let down by the fictitious company Eve recommended had left him angry and frustrated. His outbursts of anger show how tense things are in his company.
"But, I feel sorry for Mr. Dave. Is it possible that Mr. Dave's downfall has something to do with Miss Eve?" Secretary Lan, who was originally indifferent, suddenly felt sorry for Dave's fate. For some reason, she felt suspicious about Eve's attitude. Moreover, yesterday Eve had come but left again.
'Argh, never mind. Why should I interfere?" Secretary Lan's mind tried to eliminate what was bothering her.
Meanwhile, Dave, who was sinking deeper into anger, continued to search for the fate of the company's money that he had invested in the company. His desperation and confusion were mounting, while Eve's absence made him even more suspicious of her. Maybe telling his mother would calm his emotions a little.
"Yes, Dave. What's wrong?" Dave's lips were suddenly speechless when he heard Chole's answering voice.
"What's wrong, Dave? You're okay, aren't you?" said Chole once again. This time the woman's voice sounded worried.
"Mom, apparently what you said was true. The construction company recommended by Eve turned out to be a fictitious company that has not been operating for a long time. My company will be ruined, ma'am. Great Food Company will be ruined!" Dave shouted hysterically from behind the phone.
Chole's motherly instincts kicked in. Dave, who was known for being haughty, ambitious and always firm in his beliefs, now seemed fragile. Seeing her only son's condition deteriorate, certainly made Chole uneasy. Then, what would happen to the shareholders in Dave's company? That question filled Chole's head.
"Didn't you say, don't believe Eve's words!" Chloe tried to make Dave realize that Eve was not as good as she thought.
"I've been trying to contact her. It's just that her number is still not active, Mom," Dave replied softly.
"Of course she's doing that on purpose, because she's deliberately deceiving you!"
"Ash... never mind, Mom. I didn't call you to listen to your lecture!" Dave immediately hung up the phone.
"Dave!" Chloe was surprised when Dave switched off the line.
When Chloe tried to dial Dave's number, her son's number was no longer active. Chloe realized that Dave was calling her on another number. Chloe tried to call Dave's backup number, but her son refused to pick up the phone. Of course, this must be because Dave still doesn't accept it when Chloe badmouths Eve and always accuses Eve of betraying him.
Chloe's feelings are getting more and more unsettled. She decides to go to Dave's company to check on her favorite son. Chloe doesn't want any more victims of Dave's anger. All Dave needed now was someone who could calm his temper.
'Actually, where did Eve go? I don't know why the destruction of the company has anything to do with her.' Chloe put on makeup in front of the mirror as she continued to think about the whereabouts of Eve who suddenly came and disappeared at will.
Some time later, the phone kept ringing in Dave's room. Several times Secretary Lan had ventured into Dave's office and told him about the threats from investors who wanted to withdraw the shares they had invested in Dave's company.
"Excuse me, sir. Just now there was another..."
Bruak!
"I told you, leave me alone!" Dave shouted loudly while throwing a small diamond-covered picture frame on his desk.
Luckily Secretary Lan quickly closed the door. Otherwise a shard of the expensive frame would have been stuck in her head.
"I'm still saved." Secretary Lan clutched her chest, which was almost dislodged by Dave's actions.
Just as she was about to return to her desk, Chloe came hurrying into Dave's room.
"Excuse me, ma'am. You'd better not disturb Mr. Dave. He is ...."
"Yes, I already know. In fact, I came here to calm him down," Chloe interrupted Secretary Lan.
"All right, ma'am. But, do you also know about Mr. Dave's problems with the investors?"
Chloe frowned in confusion. "What problem?" she asked curiously.
Secretary Lan then explained about the investors' threat to withdraw their shares. He also told Chole that they all knew about the fictitious company that had just cooperated with Great Food Company.
"How did they all know about this news?" Chloe was getting more and more confused. No wonder Dave could be almost crazy. In fact, Chloe herself was also feeling dizzy thinking about the company's problems.
"I don't know either, ma'am. In fact, I heard that the investors are about to call an emergency meeting to oust Mr. Dave," Secretary Lan replied.
Secretary Lan's information made Chloe's head spin even more.
"Let me come. If Dave comes, it will only make things worse." Chloe went to the meeting room from Secretary Lan's information.
Once inside the meeting room, all eyes were on Chloe's arrival who they considered an uninvited guest.
"In advance, I apologize for representing my son Dave's arrival." Chloe then gave the reason for Dave's absence from the meeting.
In the middle of the meeting, Chloe took a bold step to quell the shareholders' anger by promising to return the situation to normal within three months. Not only did this show her commitment to the company, but it also positioned her as responsible and capable of managing the crisis wisely.
However, Chloe's move did not come without consequences. She was forced to sell all her personal assets, including her apartment and land, to cover the company's losses. This action shows Chloe's great sacrifice to ensure Dave can still hold his position as director, as well as to keep the company going.
Although her decision may have taken a huge financial and personal toll on her, Chloe showed tremendous dedication to the company and her trust in Dave. It also confirms her position as a responsible leader who is willing to take extreme measures for the sake of the company's survival.
This move not only allowed time for repair and recovery, but also gave Dave a chance to prove himself and put things right. All eyes were now on their efforts to overcome the crisis and rebuild shareholder confidence.
But Chloe forgets, looted goods will forever be a poison and a burden to the owner, because they were obtained by unjustified means.
