Liliana read the letter Arthur wrote back to her while sobbing softly. She held the letter as if she was hugging the son she missed so much. It's clear to see how much Liliana misses Arthur. After a while, Liliana turned to the gift that Arthur had included with the letter. The old woman burst into tears again with emotion as she unwrapped the gift.
"My son, Arthur... he still remembers what his mother liked," Liliana murmured in a voice that trembled violently from holding back sobs.
"What did Arthur tell Madame? Her current state is fine, right?" Arthur pretended to ask Liliana.
"Ah, yes." Liliana gasped slightly. She had just remembered that she was not alone, but Arthur was sitting in front of her. Apparently, she had gotten so caught up in her feelings that she had momentarily forgotten everything around her.
"He said he's healthy and can eat well." Liliana replied. "That's more than enough for me."
Arthur paused for a moment, giving his mother time to ease the turmoil in his heart a little, before he would talk about something serious.
"Isn't there anything else Arthur would like to tell Madame? I'm sorry to sound inquisitive, but he also wrote to me." Arthur took out a piece of paper from his shirt pocket. It was in his handwriting as if sent by Arthur Greens.
Liliana took the paper and read it. It said that Arthur Green had entrusted his mother's safety to the man he called Mr. Wang.
"He said I should help him move Madame to another place for the time being," Arthur explained.
Liliana finally nodded slowly.
"Yes, he also said that in the letter he wrote to me," Liliana said as she returned the paper Arthur had given her earlier.
"But if I leave, who will take care of the house?" Liliana asked half-mumbling.
"You don't have to worry about that. I will prepare someone who will take care of the house during Madame's absence. Madame's plants and pets will also be taken care of," Arthur replied.
Liliana still wore a somewhat doubtful expression.
"Then what if the people who made a mess last time come again? I'm afraid they'll hurt the people who take care of the house," Liliana said in a worried tone.
Hearing that, Arthur smiled.
"You don't have to worry about that, ma'am. The people I'm going to hire here will not be random people. Think of them like mercenaries. They will not only take care of the house, but will also protect your house from intruders like the other day. Of course, they can also protect themselves." Arthur assured.
Actually, there was nothing for Liliana to worry about because the person who would be assigned to take care of Liliana's house was the one projected by the system. Of course the person was programmed in such a way as to be able to do and deal with anything.
"Alright ...." Liliana finally muttered in a low tone. All this time, she had been too cautious to trust others carelessly. But this time it was Arthur who told her to trust Mr. Wang. She tried to trust him too.
"I will do as my son asks. I will be inconveniencing Mr. Wang for the time being," Liliana added.
Arthur's smile was perfect. He was relieved that his mother was finally willing to go into hiding. Now that Liliana was in a place where Dave and his men couldn't reach her, Arthur could focus more on his goal.
The next day, Arthur picked Liliana up and drove her to a hidden place. The journey seemed very long to Liliana as if the place was very far away, even though it was only a place provided by the system.
As a reward for convincing Liliana, Arthur was given a hiding place that would not be detected by the enemy. It was such a coincidence that Arthur ended up using it as Liliana's hiding place for the time being.
"There will be people who come to help you and accompany you to chat so that you don't feel lonely. There's also a garden in the backyard if you want to grow some crops," Arthur informed her after escorting Liliana to her hideout.
"Thank you very much, Mr. Wang. I don't know how to repay your kindness," Liliana said with an unpleasant expression. Perhaps she felt she had inconvenienced Arthur too much.
"Madam, there's no need to say that. I don't feel bothered at all. In fact, I'm happy to be able to help you. Arthur is not someone else to me, but like a brother," Arthur said again. Since it was impossible to admit that he was Arthur, he said.
"Once again, thank you." Liliana grasped both of Arthur's hands tightly.
Arthur smiled and nodded. Before leaving, he told Liliana that her mother could keep in touch with Arthur Greens through letters as she had done before. Of course Liliana was very happy to hear that.
"Finally mom's business is settled," Arthur muttered as he made his way back to his apartment. He was truly relieved and could focus on his next plan.
Just as Arthur reached the apartment, his cell phone suddenly rang. Eve's name appeared on the screen after a long time.
Arthur couldn't help but accept the call.
"Yes, Eve? What's wrong?" asked Arthur. He was feeling a little tired from the trip back and forth to take Liliana earlier, so it was a little lazy to deal with Eve right now.
"Why are you answering my calls like that, Artha? Don't you miss me?" Eve asked back in an annoyed tone.
"Sorry, I didn't mean it like that. I was just working on something," Arthur replied. As much as possible he changed his tone to sound friendly to the woman. Don't let Eve withdraw her support before Arthur's goal is actually achieved.
"How are you doing? Is everything back to normal now?" Arthur asked with feigned concern.
Eve didn't answer. There was only a sigh from the other side.
"Eve? Are you okay?" Arthur asked again.
"The situation is really chaotic, Artha. Dave is raging day and night, to the point where even his mother can't calm him down," Eve said after a few harsh exhales.
Dave throwing a tantrum? It happens when something Dave wants is not realized correctly. But that was when Dave was a kid. As he got older, Arthur's half-brother got better at hiding his bad temper, except when there was something he really couldn't stand.
"Has something big happened?" Arthur asked Eve.
"Yes, I just heard that Dave didn't win the tender for the school-wide lunch. He said a competing company, Great Food Company, got the tender," Eve said.
Arthur's eyes lit up when he heard what Eve had just said.
"Artha, does this have anything to do with the confidential data I gave you the other day?" Eve asked in a half-whisper. It seemed like she didn't want to be overheard by others. I don't know where that woman is at the moment.
"That's right, Eve. That was my plan." Arthur answered without hesitation.
"Why, are you scared now? Isn't it our plan to bring Dave down?" Arthur asked.
Eve was silent for a moment.
"It is," she finally replied. However, her voice sounded doubtful.
"Why do you sound so unsure now? Don't you want Dave to fall so you can get away from him?" Arthur asked Eve another pointed question.
"I hope you do it carefully, Artha. Don't let it be discovered that we stole the information about the tender." Eve replied in a worried tone.
"It wasn't us who stole it, it was you," Arthur corrected.
Eve was silent again for a moment. Probably surprised by what Arthur had just said.
"What do you mean?" she asked later.
"No, no, don't get me wrong. I mean, you have to be careful around Dave because you're the one who comes into contact with him. Don't make Dave suspicious." Arthur immediately changed his tone. Right now Eve was still very useful, so it was not time to throw the woman away.
"I will do my best. But you don't intend to let go of my hand, do you?" Eve asked again.
"Of course not, Eve. How can you think like that. Just now I miss you so much," Arthur said very sweetly. He was happy that he had managed to deliver the first blow to Dave.
Now it was just a matter of delivering the next one.
