Chapter 6 Chapter 6

Chapter 6 Chapter 6

Sophia’s POV

Marcus, the cold-blooded son of a bitch stepped into the hallway with his pet whore Lila and a mass of guards were waiting for us.

“ Alpha Ethan, if you want my honest opinion, you need to stay the hell out of my family affairs." Marcus snarled arrogantly at Ethan as he gazed at him with anger, fists balled at his sides.

Ethan’s smirking face grasped my hand and looked up at Marcus with a cheeky angle to his chin. “ Sophia is my fated mate, whether you like it or not. I’m taking her with me.”

I looked down at the hand that was pressed against my own shaking one.

After being betrayed by my lover and poisoned by a witch who had desired him for herself, Ethan's palm was wild and warm andNicely, It was Nice to have something to hold onto.

It was a welcome warmth against the chill of the cell.

But just recently having been betrayed and betrayed and hurt by Marcus what was I thinking?! Shit! This can’t be what's happening with my fated mate suddenly showing up.

“Sophia, what are you doing?! Without a second thought, this is our mate! I'm so excited right now!"

“Calm down, Kira! There’s no way I can even contemplate this right now.” I hastily doused Kira’s enthusiasm and locked eyes with Marcus.

“Sophia is actually your fated mate?!” Marcus was raging, turning his face into a facial of fury.

Lila, who was still cowering behind him looked surprised ,"She is a prisoner of the Shadowmoon Pack! You cannot snatch her!”

But Ethan had no intention of listening to Marcus. He let go of my hand and motioned for me to move back.

Once I had done so, his previously charming golden pupils seemed to explode and a force rippled out from his body, disintegrating the walls of the cell that had been designed to hold werewolves securely, and allocated to me, the unfortunate Luna that was betrayed by her mate.

The members of the guards were obviously intimidated by Ethan's display of his power and they looked nervously up at the roof that creaked ominously above them.

"Careful Sophia, watch your step," Ethan said
as he gently brought me out of my cell and draped his coat over me.

I could feel my face flush as the smell of cedar wrapped itself around me.

He reached out and pulled me closer in line with his shoulder, as if he fully intended to just swagger out of here.

"Alpha Ethan, I repeat, you have no right to take Sophia! She is my wife!" Marcus roared as he stood in front of us and attempted to block our way, with Lila still clinging to his coat tails behind him.

I felt Ethan's hand around mine tighten and he squinted his eyes, dragging his gaze over the two people who stood boldly in front of him and laughed suddenly.

"Did you not understand? Are you people still not convinced about what I can do after that demonstration?"

Marcus's expression darkened to a scowl and he motioned for the guards around him to strike but they barely twitched.

"Are you all scared?! Have you forgotten my order?! Stop the Luna from escaping!"

Under Marcus' rage the guards flinched, but they drew their swords one at a time.

As they separated to fill in the distance between Ethan and the exit, Marcus leading them, I have to say the ridiculous role the arrogant bastard was playing did look pretty rad.

I knew Ethan’s strength was obviously beyond incredibly strong, but I was still scared that he couldn’t go up against so many people by himself.

For some reason, Ethan appeared to be amused by the whole thing.

He held me and chuckled, shaking his shoulders with laughter.

Ethan’s laughter so enraged Marcus and the guards that in seconds they partially shifted, their deadly claws becoming weapons, and attacked Ethan with unnatural speed.

I called to Kira desperately but as we were going to shift, Ethan extended his arm and stopped me.

Suddenly a scream pierced the corridor and I turned to look at Marcus's
guards to see what was going on.

Several of Marcus’s guards were slammed against the wall, one after the other, their screams mixing with the noise of their bones shattering and within seconds, more than half of his men was wiped out.

A green haired figure suddenly broke through the chaotic crowd with claws out and fangs bared, it was clear that this bloodbath was his doing.

“-you took long enough,” Ethan commented dryly.

“Of course. How am I supposed to keep up with you?”

The green haired man came up and bowed his head to me graciously.

"Hello Sophia It must be said you're even more gorgeous than I thought. I’m Max the Beta of the Wolfalpine pack.”

"How can a Beta be that powerful!?"
Kira’s voice echoed in my mind, and I knew she was as horrified as I was at the mass death before us.

I didn’t even know what kind of pack my fated mate lead,to have this kind of power at her command. Were they all this strong?

Marcus and Lila were at the other end of the hall and they both looked petrified. Lila had given up entirely in Marcus’s arms and was sliding to the floor.

And for Marcus, if his men had been slaughtered so easily by any other Alpha, he would have been sickened, but it was Ethan, and that made it a little more bearable.

“Get out of the way Marcus,” Max laughed as he came over to them and made a mocking bow, as if pleading for their cooperation.

Marcus ran his hand across the scars on his face like he had remembered something, but he didn’t try to lunge. He released Lila, allowing her to drop to the ground as he cautiously approached me.

Max, grinning, as he made mock begging gestures toward them with his palm closed as if pleading for their cooperation,"Get out of our way Marcus."

Marcus felt the scars on his face like he remembered something but he didn’t try to strike out.

He released Lila, allowing her to drop to the ground as he made his way cautiously toward me.

I looked at him ice cold and the hand that was wrapped around my shoulder moved away.

He stopped walking and looked up at Ethan.
“Alpha Ethan, I think I need to speak to my Luna… I mean Sophia…just a couple of words. It won’t take long.” Marcus said respectfully.

So intense that eventually Ethan’s death stare forced Marcus to alter how he said that I was his Luna, and say my name only.

I turned and looked at the man in front of me and my heart died a little more for the person he was now, not the man i had fallen in love with all these years.

And he was nothing but weak and lazy when he confronted the power of Ethan. “Ethan,” I said softly, speaking his name for the first time and liking how it felt on my lips, “let me talk to him There’s at least some closure for him.”

"Okay, I'll wait for you here." Ethan nodded with a charming smile. He took a modest step back and stood with his arms crossed, glaring at Marcus.

"I can forgive you for what you did, for all your mistakes, all your faults, Sophia, I can forgive you. Quit being hard. Just take your title and be the Luna you were meant to be."

I tried to hold back the snort of derision that threatened to escape my mouth. Forgive my errors? I'm the one who's being difficult?

Who does he think he is, telling me that, when he was the one who abandoned me.

"I don't have a title, I don't have a pack, what, did you forget? I turned you down!." I emphasized the last part so that he could understand what I was saying.

Marcus's face immediately crumpled into a furious gloating expression. "Sophia! We swore to the Moon Goddess!"

"You're right, we did. I really hope that you take the full weight of her judgement and dole out the punishment she deems appropriate, because really, you should know by now that you're the one who betrayed us first…"

"I didn't betray you! I've just found my fated mate and I had to.."

"Forcibly put me in a musty old cell in the dungeon?" I interrupted furiously, "Have your wife of three years set aside to make room for a woman who hail from god knows where? I really hope the Moon Goddess can see you like this!"

Marcus extended his hand towards my shoulder but Ethan was there first before he could make contact with me.

He flashed in front of me so fast I couldn’t react in time. I felt a breath of air as I became aware of what just happened and, in the next second, Ethan pinned Marcus up against the wall.

As Ethan held him down with one hand, I heard the shattering of his shoulder.

"Marcus!" Lila's frightened scream echoed through the room and I was suddenly aware of the fact that that whore was in the same space as us.

I flew to her and caught her arm, pulling on it fiercely as she collapsed onto the floor and I knelt to whisper in her ear. "I know precisely what you have done Lila, and I also understand what you are...witch. Let this be my warning to you, that sooner or later, I will get my revenge on you."

I observed with pleasure, as her expression changed from a naivety and childlike, to one of fear.

I got to my feet with a smug smile and glanced over at Marcus, who was holding his broken shoulder with a scowl while Lila lay still on the dirt, trying to digest what I had told her.

The once proud guards flung themselves on the floor and cried in panic and I pitied them.
Whether it was the three year marriage to that prick or this current farce I just wanted it done.

I glanced at Ethan, who was rolling down his sleeves as he pushed through the screaming crowd in my direction.

With a gentle smile he leaned over slightly and offered me his hand.

“So, Sophia, will you come with me? My mate!”

His golden eyes, in which I almost fell, and my heart was lurching in excitement.

With a gentle smile, I hesitantly took his hand and nervously looked up at him.

"Of course." Would you be my new beginning, Ethan?
