Sophia's POV
Before I could say anything Ethan seized Marcus's arm with a fearsome grip, and I even heard the cracking of his arm bone.
The commotion here caught the attention
of the not yet scattered Alphas, and a crowd gathered, laughter resounded as they saw Marcus’s flustered expression.
Marcus was enraged but did not have the gall to act out. "Alpha Ethan, let me go," he said.
“First I’ll break this arm,” Ethan said softly, his voice cruel. With a flick of his hand, Marcus was silenced in scream within the hall.
Tutted loudly before Ethan cast his eyes over the crowd at his sides, and then he released his hand. It added a laughably small amount of colour to his calm suit as he approached me.
He adjusted his suit calmly, and walked up to me, “c’mon i’ll take you home”.
"Alright." I smiled as I walked up to him, took his arm and we left the scene of the conference together.
Marcus's POV
Since the poisoning incident failed, although there was no direct evidence to prove that it was my doing, there were inexplicable rumors that I had poisoned Sophia's father as revenge against Darkridge Pack.
"Fck, I was already losing supporters, and now it's all over."
"Sophia is a cunning woman."
I was always worried about the Pack's future.
Winter was coming, and we'd have to get a whole lot of supplies to last us through it.
The companies under the Pack's control were faltering, and various allies were drifting away from us.
The previously warm Pack was also putting distance between me and them.
Damn! This woman Sophia is to blame for everything!
"Alpha, the meeting of the alliance is in three days."
The Beta came to remind me in the study.
Yes, the alliance meeting is in a few days and there are a lot of Alphas coming.
I'II have to make some new contacts, and find me some new Packs, or some other way to get through this winter hard as it is.
Then after pandemonium had subsided, then I'd get about taking Darkridge Pack territory for good!
I was brimming with confidence as I arrived at the meeting, until I saw that damn woman was also there! How could a woman be permitted to come to the meeting of the alliance? So, they started to mock her, I saw how people started to laugh and Sophia said nothing but lowered her head.
I looked icily at everything that I saw, hoping to tell her that Without me, she is nothing.
But that damn Ethan just had to butt in and get involved once again.
He ranked highly in the alliance, and that was someone I couldn't compete against.
Sophia’s emotions had evened out and she was feeling more confident since she had arrived, I heard her say two things that shocked me – both in terms of what she said and the moment in time that she said them! She was so confident she even spoke out against my own views!
Her chocolate colored eyes remained stunning but every time she gazed at me with them I felt nothing but revulsion and contempt.
And yet when she turned her eyes on Ethan with them I could see the profound love and adoration in them as clearly as day! I knew that look well She was giving it to Ethan now.
Sophia used to look at me with those eyes and she walked with me through many beautiful days.
But already she was gazing with those beautiful love filled eyes at another man?! Is that her true love win?
“So what if she has?”
“No! Both Sophia and the Darkridge Pack are going to be mine!”
At the earliest opportunity, I went rushing over to her, with the heady, sweet words from the film still ringing in my ears, intent on talking her around and getting Sophia back on my side.
It worked like a charm, every time for three years of marriage. Except this time, Sophia never came back to me.
Instead, she slapped me and said something in a language that I couldn’t understand. “Kabu!”
Watching Sophia and Ethan inch away, I was boiling mad. I was ready to grind my teeth to dust, that’s how frustrating it all was.
I rushed back to the Shadowmoon Pack and searched until I found Lila, that foolish woman, still in the bedroom doing her beauty treatments. I grabbed her roughly
and shook her violently as I yelled furiously in her face.
"What kind of poison did you give Sophia's father?" I demanded.
"Just some sleeping potion. We talked about this already," Lila replied nonchalantly.
"Sophia said her father almost died from the poison! He can't even get out of bed!" I held onto her hand tightly and stared at her.
But then Lila's mouth twisted, and tears streamed down her face.
"Sophia! Sophia! That's all you keep talking about these days! She's not Luna anymore!"
"Why did you make her cry again?!”
"Enough, just shut up!'
I was about to say something when Hugo and Lila spoke up at the same time, their voices ringing in my ears.
My head was buzzing, so I just held onto Lila and tried to calm her down. I had to confirm that the poison she had given me only caused sleep.
"Maybe Sophia is just playing you for one of her schemes. She probably wants to appear more pitiful in front of Ethan," Lila said with a light chuckle, offering me some advice on the situation.
"Damn it! That woman Sophia was bewitched by Ethan!"
The way she looked at him made me furious. That look used to be only for me. It was mine!
"It's okay. If we can't win Sophia over, we can destroy her relationship with Ethan," Lila whispered in my ear.
Yes! Of course, Lila was right. Ethan was just a temporary distraction for Sophia. Once I got Sophia back and reclaimed Darkridge Pack's land and resources, I would be the most powerful Alpha once more.
Ethan would be begging at my feet, and Sophia would be my sex slave, naked and locked in my room to be used as and when I desired!
