Chapter 19 Chapter 19
Sophia's POV
I sat in the car and kept frantically adjusting my collar and smoothing out my skirt trying to psych myself up that I was about to see Ethan for the first time in forever and I would be looking at him as the best I could be.
"Don't be so nervous Sophia."
"I just don't know what to say... what to do with him."
"Are you in love with him?" I was so busy fidgeting that my hand froze and I was a little taken aback by what Kira said.
Did I love Ethan? my heart raced when I was with him. He was the other half of my soul, my forever mate kindred moon goddess chosen companion he was so powerful and perfect. Still, he was also an Alpha and a strong one at that.
"Everyone you love will leave you." Lila's words were reverberating at the back of my mind like some kind of an evil curse, which reminded me of those six years of my losing relationship with Marcus.
I kept thinking, how long would Ethan’s love for me last? Before I knew it the Wolfalpine Pack’s palace was in view and as we stopped at the palace front and I exited the vehicle, two figures I knew all too well greeted me in the doorway.
"Miss Sophia, welcome back."
" Kira! Elara!"
They hugged me warmly and welcomed me with a deep bow.
I smiled when I thought of the fact that someone must have missed me while I was gone.
The two women slid me into the palace and down the long hall to the banquet hall, where sunlight streamed through the massive glass windows and warmed the whole hall.
They talked non-stop as we walked, about everything that had happened in the last few days while I was gone, and how much Ethan missed me.
My cheeks flushed, and I could feel the happiness spark dancing around inside me, but then I turned into the next hall and saw Max at the end of the hall.
He carried a voluptuous woman into a room, it was hard not to notice her emerald green hair was so conspicuous.
“Is that Max's mate?” I asked, intrigued.
Kira and Elara laughed out loud “No, goddess no. This is probably the fourth different woman this week."
"He appears to be enjoying a... colorful… life," he remarks.
We both laughed and made our way to the banquet hall. They both were grin and beckoned me to come after me.
I looked down and for the last time tousled my clothes and made a lookover and when I finally raised my eyes, I saw that there were countless jewels gleaming on every surface in the banquet hall.
" When you came through the door, I sighed my relief and happiness that it's ok now that you're home," said Ethan.
"Ethan," I said softly as he took my hand and kissed the back of it.
Today, he was dressed in a pale suit, the color of his blue eyes was intensified by that it and the well know scent of cedar that was on his skin was just as sweet as I remembered.
As he approached us, Kira appeared to be having a meltdown in my head.
"Long time no see Ethan." is this for Broad audience or General Writing and which data should I include for you to fulfill your purpose?
“Yeah, way too long. I’ve missed you so much.” Ethan scowled like he was silently scolding me for not reaching out to him the way I used to all of a sudden, I just felt like the tall Alpha in front of me looked a little cute.
I took the initiative by moving toward his hand and gazing into his eyes as my way of thanking him, but suddenly he smiled.
He came in leaning down and kissing me softly, then molding me into his chest, wrapping his arm around me as he nuzzled into my neck and exhaled softly over his skin.
“I don’t understand why you won’t say you missed me more than that.”
I cracked up and my hand went out to smooth his collar which had been a little crumpled.
"I thought you would be angry with me because I forgot to bring the necklace with me that you bought me."
Ethan raised his eyebrows in surprise as his eyes widened. "I thought you didn't like the necklace!"
"What? How come? I love it!"
Ethan laughed at my words and took my hand to the pile of sparkling jewels laid all over the tables. "These are all for you."
"What? Why?! I thought you were doing this for something else."
I looked at the jewels from necklaces to rings to bracelets, each one of them so beautiful that the varying gemstones seemed as though it might blind me if I stared too long.
I felt a little hysterical and didn't know whether or not to laugh or cry. Ethan had actually prepared so many beautiful things
because he thought I didn't like his gift.
When I was with Marcus it was always the same old-fashioned flowers and a few well-spoken words at every anniversary and birthday.
If I was lucky, he might prepare a romantic dinner if he was in the mood for some love.
He would always say, "None of these things could ever compare to my feelings for you."
Now that I thought about it, he was just a cheap asshole!
"Ethan, I already loved that necklace, it was your first ever gift to me, do you want to give it to me again?"
"Really? I mean... sure!"
Ethan looked so happy that I would say
something like that and he turned suddenly to shout for Max. As soon as he realized that Max wasn't there, he walked to a cabinet and removed a box from one of the drawers. As soon as he opened it, the sapphire necklace from before lay gently atop a velvet cushion. It had obviously been well taken care of.
I laughed as I moved my hair to one side so that Ethan could help me put the necklace on. "I think that Max is in bed with a beautiful woman right now." I giggled.
Ethan placed the necklace around my neck and rested his hands on my shoulders as he stared at me deeply, before finally, nodding in satisfaction.
"Max's private life has always been... busy. He and I are very different."
I didn't hold back when I heard this and I reached out and poked his shoulder hard with a smirk.
"Oh really? Somehow you managed to get a woman's lipstick mark on your jacket last time though,"
Ethan most likely hadn't expected me to bring up this matter and after listening to my teasing, he quickly wrapped his arms around me.
"No, you have it all wrong... I promise you.”
