Chapter 17 Chapter 17

Chapter 17 Chapter 17
Omega POV

I’m just an Omega in the Ironclad pack, who mostly keeps to herself and lives honest.

Once the only daughter of our Alpha wed the Alpha of the Nightfall Pack, our Pack flourished and the two packs collaborated to make all our lives better.

Miss Sophia and Alpha Marcus were the uncommon chosen mates among the wolf packs and their combined power was immense.

For now, at least, we had a multitude of advocates, and allies who would support us come hell or high water.

Then there was a day when that all changed.
I listened to that with Sophia had fought with Alpha Marcus’s guards on her wedding anniversary, then poisoned and gravely wounded Marcus’s lover Lila Scott; then, nothing if puffed up, Miss Sophia had run away with the Embermoon Pack’s Alpha.
As a result, our pack's prestige was badly tarnished.

The allied packs claimed that Miss Sophia was a wild jealous and irrational woman and many sympathisers distanced themselves from us abandoning all ongoing collaborations between our packs.

In this instance our Alpha had chosen to support his daughter. He demanded the severing of all ties with the Nightfall Pack, as well as cut all financial and military support to more than half.

Because he was so stubborn that the Alpha ended up arguing with several Elders and the pack’s disorder only grew.

Many of the members had felt this restlessness and they believed the pack was on the verge of disintegrating, and we had already lost a good number of our people.

That's when I got a bizarre letter, with an intriguing message inside. 'You want a stronger, more stable Pack life than the one you have now? If it intrigues you, come to the Misty Forest.”

“Alpha Marcus?!” Of course I’d been to Misty Forest and I’d found Miss Sophia’s husband, Marcus Blackthorn.

"Hi. I've seen you at a wedding." He bent down to smile at me.

I nodded, completely entranced by his presence. “Yes, did you write that letter?”

"That's right." The handsome smile he gave me, made me melt.

Alpha Marcus produced a green bottle and informed me that if I was willing to put this in my Alpha’s food I could begin my existence anew at the Nightfall Pack he in turn would be kinder to me and elevate me to a higher level.

I was just a run-of-the-mill Omega with the Ironclad Pack, nothing special.

I could not say no to such an offer. I didn’t even care what would happen to the Alpha once I did as I was told.

"Sorry to bother you Beta Thorne," I said as I quietly handed the poisoned food to him.
"It's not a problem." He answered as he took it and placed it on the table.

I looked down at the necklace around my neck, set with beautiful green gemstones. It was just a little thing that Alpha Marcus had given me.

When I was wearing it, I could temporarily change my appearance so that when the time came, the blame for the poisoned food would not rest on my head. After a little time had passed, I would start my new life at the Nightfall Pack.

But somehow, Alpha Marcus's plan seemed to have failed and I was a little worried that he would not make good on the promise he had made to me.

Sophia had been investigating the truth about the poisoning since she returned and suddenly, I was extremely uneasy.

I wanted nothing more than to pack up and move.

"Hey! Why don't you go and see what all the fuss is about? The fucking poisoner has been caught!"

"What?!" I gasped at my roommate's
sudden announcement. How could that be true?

"Who was the traitor that poisoned him?!" I asked quietly, still in a state of shock.

"It's Beta Thorne!"

I followed my roommate out into the hall to watch the excitement and for whatever reason, Sophia the fool, seemed to have arrested Thorne as a poisoner.

"Ready for your sentence, Thorne?" Sophia's majestic voice sounded from the center of the hall. Beta Thorne was held by guards on both sides as he knelt before her.

"I swear I didn't do it!"

"You still dare to argue with me and deny it?!"
I almost laughed out loud. I had used a necklace to change my appearance and when they couldn't find me in the kitchen, naturally the only suspect left was Beta Thorne because he was the only other person who took care of the Alpha's diet.

"Now, guards, close the door to the hall. No one leaves this hall.”

Sophia's voice suddenly called out as the guards sealed the entrances. Everyone who came to see the trial had been locked inside.
What the fuck was this for.

Fuck. Wasn't she going to punish Beta Thorne?

The people around me whispered loudly and my heart began to race violently. I felt more and more uneasy as Sophia took Beta Thorne along with her to inspect each member of the pack in turn.

I told myself to calm down. The letters that I had exchanged with Alpha Marcus had already been burnt by me, and I had taken care of getting rid of the evidence of
the glass bottles...there was no way that they could pin anything on me.

I took my belongings out and sat them in front of me. All I had was some change, the necklace and the key to my room.

There was nothing special about any of these things. I knew it would be fine.

"It really wasn't easy to find you, you know." Beta Thorne's voice came from in front of me.

When I looked up, I was faced with Miss Sophia's angry eyes.
