47. I Wanted Sex

**47. I Wanted Sex**

“Joycelyn!”

I hear my name in a growl and I turn around to meet the furious grey eyes that whirl with anger.

“I want to talk to you.” Ceasar says in a low rough voice, and I ignore the sweat building in between my breast.

“I am afraid I do not have the time right now.” I inform him and turn my heels in the direction towards the display of pastries arranged in a fountain like formation.

I don’t want to see his face,

Or the girl, who is his date!

I would rather focus on food,

Than on any useless dude!

I eat brownies and look around if anyone is watching me stuff food down my throat. To my surprise, no one appears to be paying any attention to me whatsoever.

I am more shocked than the electric pole to see that nobody cares.

Influencers are roaming around the people with wealth and power, eager to reap any benefits that may arise from these connections. Meanwhile, celebrities stand aloof, unwilling to associate themselves with the common crowd.

I spot Dua and Lipa in between people, talking about the dress I am wearing and how they got the inspiration to design it.

People are mostly in their own world, and I feel a sense of loneliness, like I do not belong here. Their gaze are cold and their smiles lack the warmth.

Everything is just cold about rich people.

They only cared about me until I was standing beside Cesar or Cason. Without any powerful person beside, they won’t even bat an eye or care if I drop dead at this very moment.

My mother-in-law once again spots me alone and queries, “What are you doing here by yourself, sweetie?”

“Oh.. I-“ I quickly chew a mouthful of brownie before responding, “I was hungry and wanted to eat alone.”

“Aww! You should eat more, but be careful, those sweets pile on the pounds more than a burger ever could.”

She warns me and I immediately throw the remaining brownie away. “Oh! I wasn’t aware.” I deeply sigh, tasting its lingering taste of chocolate in my mouth.

“Come on, let me introduce you to my childhood neighbours. They will be delighted to meet you.” My mother-in-law urges.

For the remaining evening, I stay with her, getting introduced to a bunch of people, telling them my love story and about our baby.

Throughout the event, Ceasar’s gaze never left me even for a moment. He looked dead serious as if he will pound on me any second and rip out my throat away from my neck.

I avoid him like the plague and try to mix in the crowd. After the night, when slowly the guests started leaving, it’s time for me to leave with the man I have been ignoring all the evening.

“Sure. Thank you for the amazing party. I loved it.” I lie right on my mother-in-laws face before I get into the car with Ceasar.

“Aww, honey! Please drop a message when you get home safely.”

“Sure.” I tell her and mentally prepare myself for the long, and awkward car ride which is ahead of me.

Silence prevails between us after we pretended to be a loving couple for a whole night. Clearly it has taken the toll on us. I pull out my heels and sit back on the seat, feeling Ceasar’s gaze on me.

Although he has not spoken for a long time, his eyes tell me something that I couldn’t decipher. They speak volumes, revealing a mystery that remains unsolved.

I look out of the window, trying to think of anything else besides the uncomfortable silence between us.

“Joycelyn.”

I feel a dip in my chest as he calls my name with a deep urgency.

My eyes find his grey orbs and my heart flutters as I find them fixated on me.

“I need to talk to you about something important.” His expression hardens and his tone remains serious.

My heart beats wildly in my chest and I know what he has to say about or perhaps.. Lecture me about.

Caso-

“I ended things with Irene tonight.”

My eyes widen in disbelief and I am taken aback as he reveals something that I could have never fathomed. Now even in my most creative dreams. As my second guess after Cason was Kardashians.

“It was just an arrangement to fulfil our temporary needs.” He tells me with nervousness peaking in his tone.

The confident and arrogant man I have known, is nowhere to be seen.

“Being a businessman.. I didn’t get time to invest into romantic relationships.. but being a man I.. I couldn’t ignore the need to calm my loins.” He admits, his voice shakes a bit as he takes pauses and deep breaths in between to gather his thoughts.

“And we somehow found each other in that moment to fulfil our desires. She wanted to spend time with someone and I wanted sex.” He says in a low voice, revealing his intentions with a hint of shame in his tone.

My heart leaps into my throat and I am still not sure why it bothers me so much, but the idea of Ceasar with another woman makes my stomach churn sickly.

“Though I respect her as a person, I do not have any sort of romantic feeling for her. So we ended our.. Arrangement, tonight.”

He looks deep into my eyes as if searching for sometime, while I stay stunned on my spot. My heart is fluttering, my cheeks are tingling and my pulses are fastening. I never expected Ceasar to confess something like this, especially how he behaved in the party.

But then…

“Why are you telling me all this?” I ask him and feel the car slow down.

Ceasar briefly looks away before locking his gaze on me. “The reason I am telling you all of this is because..”

He pauses, then looks deeply into my eyes saying, “Because I want us to work.”

I feel a dip in my chest and I realize it is my heart. It skipped a beat and almost tried to kill me.

“What do you mean by ‘us’?” I ask him, with heavy thuds in my ribcage.

“Us, as in you and me.” He replies with a confident voice. Grey eyes gaze deeply into my soul as he confesses..

“I want to turn our fake marriage into real.”
