44. Love at First Sight
**44. Love at First Sight**
My heels click with every step as I make my way to the waiting car.
Dua and Lipa assist me in getting into the back seat. “Oh no, am I late?” I almost panic with raging heartbeats.
“Listen up, honey. The party doesn’t start until the queen bee walks in.” The fashion designer tells me and I let out a chuckle.
“Make it your night.” They wish me luck and I thank them before the car takes off like a bat out of the cave.
“Where is Ceasar?” I ask Jackson as he quietly drives.
“He has already arrived to entertain the guest. I am asked to pick you up.” He replies.
My heart ticks like a bomb as the anticipation eats me. My pulses beat wildly as the car stops right on the red carpet of his family home which looks like a Hollywood premier show.
A wave of panic washes over me. What if I messed it up? What if I tripped and fell? What if my dress slides down and I accidentally flash my assets to everyone?
Suddenly the door opens and my eyes witness flashes of cameras being bombarded at me. My heart goes into full-on freak mode as I try to gather myself, the dress, my hair and purse, all at once.
I can feel a panic attack building in me slowly as everything slips from my fists and the flashes of the cameras get brutal with every second as if they eagerly waiting for my fall.
Out of nowhere, a hand appears, like the god came himself down to help me. I look up and stark grey eyes meet mine.
A cheshire smirk spreads across his handsome face as he grins. “Do you need help, maa-lady?”
Cason is wearing a gleaming black colour suit with no shirt inside. His clean, shiny chest glows better than my caked up face and I gulp in anxiety.
Raging heart beats calms down a bit as I take his hand like it’s the hand of Jesus and step out of the vehicle without tumbling down.
Red dress with red shoes on a red carpet.
Cameras flash on us like a target.
Their eyes gleam with a shock and a glare.
I wonder if it’s my beauty or can they see my underwear?
“Damn.. Someone looks gorgeous. Like my next girlfriend.” Cason jokes around and I nervously laugh, knowing he is trying to light my mood.
His hand slips around my waist and he secures his grip, preventing me from stumbling like a bucket.
Paparazzi go wild, their cameras flash at us as if we are a rare alien who walked right out of Avatar movie. As we make our way down the red carpet, I catch a dark towering figure, glaring from the entrance of the house, blazing at us with hot eyes of hell.
Ceasar.
My heart skips a beat as I see him. Black tuxedo, with a flawless bow tie in between his white collar shirt, and a silk handkerchief in his breast pocket. He is perfectly dressed up like a mannequin.
My heart jumps a little as he strides towards us. His polished black shoes click against the floor, each step precise and deliberate.
Ceasar takes my hand from his brother’s paw and possessively pulls me towards him. “Thank you. I’ll take my wife from here.” His voice deep and hard, like his eyes.
I feel a thud in my chest as his warmth seeps into me like a cosy winter blanket on a chilly night. No matter how hard I try, the blush on my cheeks is beyond my control.
A hand secures around my waist, and my insides melt with his heat. I look up at him and my eyes lock with his intense gaze. His jaw is set hard, and his lips are in a firm line, giving away nothing of what he is thinking or feeling.
Although having similar features, the way Ceasar looks at me with a predatory gaze, it sends chills down my spine.
“I will see you inside.” Cason says as he walks past us and goes inside.
Whereas I and Ceasar stand in the flashlight of cameras, looking at each other like we are spelled to stay.
His dark hair is slick back, revealing a strong jawline and starking grey eyes that would even make the devil shiver with chills.
Slowly, he leans down to my face and I feel his peppermint breath on my face, right before I feel the warmth of his lips on mine.
Tingles shoot from my head to heels, causing me to curl my toes under the sensation. His lips move on mine, pressing it softly and sucking a little in his mouth. I feel my body pressing more into his hard shell and he presses on to my lips with an urge.
Sweet and soft, his lips on mine,
With his kiss, he froze the time.
In his embrace, my worries cease,
Oh, how his lips bring me such peace!
But as fast as it came, his lips leaves mine and I find myself back on the feet. Then it draws to me that I had been standing on my toes to match his height to kiss him back.
“Let’s go inside.”
The magic of our kiss still flows through my veins as he takes me inside to the awaited party.
As we enter, I couldn’t help but let out a gasp at the sight of how beautifully his house was decorated. It’s like entering into heaven. Light glows from the chandelier with the size so big that it looks like a small planet in the room.
Suddenly every head turns in our direction. Some with envy and others with curiosity to know who is the mysterious girl that the billionaire married.
“Come.” Ceasar guides me inside. The cool air of the AC hits me and I shiver. He notices and pulls me closer to his body, enveloping me in his heat.
Blush forms on my face as he claims me so openly and I couldn’t help but look down from all the gazes which checks me out boldly.
“Smile.” I hear a whisper in my ear and instantly the hand on my waist tightens slightly. When I look up, I find Ceasar flashing a broad grin at the crowd.
My heart clenches as slowly the realization dawns on me. He wants me to smile to portray us as a happy, loving couple in front of everyone.
Blush evaporates from my face and a fake smile appears, as I dutifully play my part as a trophy wife, exactly as he desires.
People approach us, offering congratulations for our wedding and baby, while I struggle to maintain the smile that keeps on slipping down my face.
My mother-in-law steals me away from the cluster of workaholics and drags me to the gossiper gang. She introduces me to her each and every member of kitty party group and I take in their curious gazes.
“So tell us, how did you two meet?” One of the lady asks me.
“It was love at first sight.” I blush and they all cooes at me. My cheeks automatically blush the shade of red and I didn’t have to fake it this time.
My eyes look for Ceasar and I find him staring at a girl standing alone in the crowd, who is deeply staring back at my husband.
An unknown fear looms in my chest as their gaze tells me they are not strangers. As the old saying goes…
In a room full of familiar faces,
Beware those who hide in tight spaces.
For secrets deep they may keep,
Do not think they are just sheep.
