1 - Rejected
Fiona's Pov.
I walked hastily to Asher's room. What could be so urgent for him to have asked his guards to call me to his room at this late hour? The walk to the passage was a dark one and I wondered why the guards hadn't put on the generator yet.
I stepped into the room and used the light from my phone screen as a guide.
"Asher?" I called out but I was met with silence.
It was strange to see his room this dark. Asher was a fearless werewolf but he had always hated darkness. My leg made contact with a sharp object so I paused. With a hand on my waist for support, I bent down slowly to see what was on the floor.
A knife. Immediately, the lights went on, I guess those guards finally remembered their jobs. My eyes widened in fear at the next thing I saw, the Alpha's father was in the pool of his blood. I wanted to use my other hand to cover my mouth when I remembered the object I had picked up. It was a knife…stained with blood.
"Help! Mr Lucas! Goodness, gracious!! Can anybody hear me, please help!" I screamed as the blood on the knife stained my blue dress. Where was Asher? I wondered as I walked in the direction of his bathroom. I was about to turn the doorknob when the main door flung open.
It was Asher. He looked at the floor where his dead father lay coldly and back at me. I could see the anger in his eyes.
"Dad," he said coldly and walked slowly to the pool of blood.
"I…I found him…" I stuttered not knowing what to say. The way Asher looked at me and the knife I was holding sent a signal to my brain. Immediately, I dropped the knife.
"Why did you do this to me, Fiona?" He asked weakly, his sea-blue eyes piercing into mine.
"What do you mean by that?" I asked with a frown on my face. His eyes trailed my body and I rubbed my baby bump which was already as large as the size of an inflated balloon.
"I won't repeat myself, why did you kill my father?" He yelled and I could see hatred screaming from his eyes.
"No…no, I didn't. One of your guards told me you wanted to see me, I came to your room and saw your father lying in the pool of his blood." I explained and my heartbeat increased crazily. Sweat beads began to form around my forehead and armpits as more people trooped into the room. I had to handle this situation carefully and quickly.
"Can we talk privately, Asher?" I whispered when I got close to him.
"Are you out of your mind? Talk privately? Oh! I get it, so you can eliminate me also, right?" He yelled and I became more embarrassed.
"Who was the guard that called you?" He asked "It was dark, I didn't see his face," my reply was met with a wicked laugh from him. "Nice story Fiona."
"Guards, get this murderer out of here." He ordered and immediately two guards dragged me towards the door.
"Wait," I pleaded.
"Asher, how do you think I could possibly kill your father? He was going to be my father-in-law. Why would I do such a thing?"
"Fiona, are you that dumb? I caught you with a knife in my room with my father. How did he get here? Why were you with him?" He queried, I could feel the hurt in his voice but I was innocent.
"I gave you everything you ever wanted, was ready to make you my Luna and to spend the rest of my life with you but this is how you say thank you to me for bringing your family out of the gutters."
"Ash…" My voice trailed in hurt, the situation he found me in was compromising but he should know me better than to think I'm a murderer.
"Quit the pity game, Fiona, to think we all trusted you." I was pulled back by a familiar voice. I turned and it was Cassy, my best friend.
"What do you mean?" I asked her.
"I saw when you entered this room with a knife, you forgot to close the door and I saw when you stabbed Sir Lucas multiple times but why Fiona?"
I looked around to see the shock on everyone's faces as they cast disgusting stares at me. What was Cassy saying? Was she running mad? At that moment I realized I had been set up by someone.
"Why don't you deny it? No, go on and deny it." Asher said, waving his hands in the air and I knew I had lost my sweet-loving man.
"If you ever loved me, Asher, you won't believe any of this." I cried out the tears I had been holding for a long time.
"We don't accommodate murderers in this pack, this is going to serve as a lesson to everybody."
"Asher…" I said faintly but he ignored me.
"Take this woman and lock her up in the dungeon, by tomorrow morning, she'll be served the punishment for murderers." He said and my eyes widened in panic as I cried profusely.
Anyone accused of murder was sentenced to death. So, Asher was going to watch me get killed?
"You can't do this, my love, what about our children?" I rubbed my belly but I was met with a loud scoff.
"You can't use that to blackmail me, when one steps down another goes up. I've known Cassy well enough to know that she is a good werewolf. Thankfully, she isn't an Omega so she is stronger than you and fit enough to rule alongside me."
"What are you insinuating?" I asked, using the back of my palms to clean my tears.
"I, Asher Damien, reject you as my mate, Fiona Carlos."
The whole room was filled with my murmurings, it was no news that I was destined to marry Asher but that wasn't going to happen anymore. Bee was troubled within me, I had to accept this rejection no matter how painful it was.
"I accept your rejection and I reject you too, Asher," I Said with tears streaming down my eyes.
"Cassy will be the Luna of my pack." My mouth hung in shock as I turned to see Cassy with a big smile on her face. Wasn't this my best friend anymore? Why did she lie that I murdered Lucas?
"Guards take her away," he concluded and walked out of the room.
I ran to meet him but I was pulled back by a guard and immediately, I felt a sharp pain between my legs. I needed to be careful as my delivery date was due but wait, I was going to die tomorrow so of what use was this?
I could hear the loud whimpering of my wolf in my head. "This isn't fair," Bee cried and I couldn't agree less.
After several years of being with the man I love, this is how my life was ending. The lovely memories kept playing in my head. "Please save me, moon goddess," I whispered loud enough for only me to hear.
I heard the sound of the wind outside and I knew it was going to be a cold night for me alone in this cold room.
The door crept open and I guessed it was probably a guard who came to serve me my dinner but I felt the familiar presence and looked up. "Dad!" I stood up excitedly.
"Shhhhh! We need to get you out of here and fast," he whispered, placing his fingers on his lips to shut me up.
"How did you get the key?" I asked.
"Don't worry about that, you were set up by someone." We made our way out of the dungeon. Two guards were snoring as we walked out carefully. We were half gone when a familiar scent hit my nostrils. Asher. I tried to whisper to my dad for us to hide but it was too late, there he was, facing me with a disappointed look.
"So you wanted to escape? I thought as much when I didn't see your father in his hut."
He turned to his guards and they handed him his royal blade.
"I'll kill you myself the same way you did my father but first I'll do you the honors of watching your father die." He was barely done with the last word when his blade sliced deep into my father's chest.
"Dad!!!" I screamed at the top of my voice but was pulled back by a guard.
"Shut her up!"
It was over, the sharp blade went deep into my womb. My babies...this was how my life was going to end.
"Asher…" I said weakly as I felt the life leave my body.
