CHAPTER 21

Cammy thought that the worst of her troubles were over. She had thought that she had seen it all. The highest and the lows but it turns out nothing was worse than having to look your mate’s child in the eye.

She didn't want to lash out at him again: she had felt as though she had been completely strained from that and she didn't have any more energy left to fight inside of her.

“Uhmm hi.” Was all she managed to say. She was glad when his attention went to the person behind her as she didn't entirely see how she would be able to keep up with his stare. One that seemed so familiar and yet so different.

She sidestepped him as she made her way into the room and she could hear faint squeals behind her as well as him calling out for his daddy.

She spotted Sam sitting down on the sofa as he offered her a tight lipped smile and a wave of his hand. She gave him one in return and she was grateful when he took in her lost stare. He humped over the couch and came over towards her.

“I am sorry that you had to come in like this but i have to tell you that this is what is for the best.” He said to her and she couldn't help but scoff at his words as she rolled her eyes at him.

“Yeah well that is what everyone else seems to be telling me.” She said to him in a mutter under her breath.

“Hey you know that we all care about you and that we are all doing what is best for you.” He said as he pulled her along the hallway. She took a moment to admire the decor. She had to admit the fact that it was quite beautiful to look at. It had a black and white theme with beautiful persian rugs on the floor. Soon enough they came to the end of it where there were two doors that were opposite one another.

“Okay so there are three rooms. One is in the attic and Jackson likes to stay there. And I am guessing that you have already been able to figure out that the black door is the one that is for River and you get this room”. Sam said to her as he pulled open the door for her.

She took in the sight of the several rooms that had toorak decor and she couldn't help but adnote it. She had to admit the fact that it did in fact look very good.

She watched as he looked towards her with a grin on his face and a glint in his eyes. “Well I am guessing you like it. I would have thrown a fit if you don't”. He said to her in a mutter. She furrowed her eyebrows at his words as she found herself struggling to understand what he meant.

“Okay wait, if there are only three rooms then where are you going to stay?” She asked him . She watched as a blush slowly crawled up his cheeks as he scratched the back of his head.

"i have a date.” He managed to mutter. She gasped loudly as she found herself jumping up and down in her spt. She knew that things had been hard for the two of them ever since she had left the pack but he hadn't done anything wrong to her. In fact he hadn't done anything at all. She thought that was what bothered her the most the day that he had simply stood by River’s Side through it all.

But he was still her friend and they had known each other since childhood. It didn't matter how far they drifted apart, they still Cared for each other greatly. “That is amazing. Who is she: where did you meet her and I thought you were waiting to get your mate”. She said to Him in excitement.

She would have been disappointed if he had told her that he had grown tired of looking for his mate. After all, he was almost 27 but she didn't blame him. He shook his head as he rolled his eyes at her in response. “Oh come on. Don't be like River and she is my mate but she is human so i have to take things slow. She is really intent on playing hard to get and I barely managed to get this fate with her”. He said to her in a mutter under his breath.

She hummed as she nodded her head at him in response. She understood to some level what he meant but in the end he was still a great guy and he was still one of the best people that she knew. She gave his shoulder a light squeeze. “You are going to get through this. In the end I know that you are still a very good person.” She watched him give her a small smile as he squeezed her shoulder.

“Thank you. And I know that you guys are going to get through this as well.” He muttered before turningnto lwave.

She sighed as he left and made her way over towards the bed. She sat down on it as she stared around the room. She wasn't sure how this was going to work out for them in the end truly.

She could see that the sun was starting to set and she had to start getting ready for bed soon. She had heard Sam leave earlier and she hoped it would end well. She just wanted to take a long shower and forget that the day ever even happened.

But as she stepped into the shower letting the water run down her body she froze when she realized that she didn't have anything to wear. She had not brought any clothes with her. A sense of dread came over her as she realized that she would just have to wear her old clothes.

Once she was done she stepped out of the shower feeling much better about herself. She wrapped a towel around herself as she made her way back inside the room. Her eyes widened and her breath hitched when she spotted the figure that was sitting on her bed.

He was dressed in gray sweats and a black shirt that was tight around his biceps. He looked up towards her the moment that she stepped into the room and she watched as his eyes switched from yellow to black.

She watched as he slowly stood up to his feet like a predator that was trailing his prey. Her heart raced against her chest as he pressed her body against the door.

“Hello mate.” He said in a gruff tone. She knew this wasn't River.
