Chapter 2127 2137

Chapter 2127 2137
"After going mad for a period of time, she regained her sanity, only to discover that countless beloved family members had been slaughtered by her own hands. She wept bitterly, then boarded an aircraft, left the Myriad Tribulation Star, and drifted into the lonely starry void."
Liam drew a sharp breath, his heart gripped with shock.
Possessing predictive abilities meant that once such an individual matured, they were practically invincible, making global domination relatively straightforward.
Yet they would go mad in their old years, potentially destroying an entire civilization.
He suddenly understood why Archie had expressed doubt earlier about whether his choice today was right.
What if Elena turned out the same way in the future...
At that moment, Elena continued, "Ever since the second Prophet, the survivors no longer allowed any Prophets to exist. The moment a awakened Prophecy Trait was discovered, they would swiftly eradicate it. There aren't many records left from the intervening eras."
"It wasn't until the late Third Era that another Prophet emerged. In truth, this person had awakened their prophetic abilities long ago, but kept it hidden while serving as a strategist for the imperial family of an empire called the News Empire. Relying on the Prophet's abilities, the News Empire grew from a tiny nation into a booming superpower that unified the entire northern region of the Myriad Tribulation Star!"
"However, because of the existence of two previous Prophets, the imperial family of the News Empire kept this particular Prophet locked away and kept in captivity," Elena let out a breath. "Even so, that Prophet steadily crept closer to the Permanent-Tier Flame Decay level."
"This time, however, he did not succeed. The News Empire was already immensely powerful by then. Seeing that the Prophet was about to break through, they used a cruel ancient ritual to skin him alive, seal his trait, and craft it into a parchment!" Elena said, expelling a breath.
"Before he died, the third Prophet left behind a curse, laying a curse upon the imperial family of the News Empire that brothers would slaughter one another and internal chaos would consume them..." Elena said with a bitter smile.
"Sure enough, after the parchment was created, civil war broke out within the News Empire. They engaged in incestuous madness and fought bloody battles among themselves to seize the parchment. The once-glorious News Empire rapidly declined, and the imperial family produced numerous deformed offspring, becoming the laughingstock of the Myriad Tribulation Star!"
"Afterward, the parchment vanished. Because the Prophecy Trait is unique, no other Prophets appeared afterward. Slowly, the trait faded from memory, while the parchment—possessing prophetic capabilities—became an object fought over by many." She added, "Yet ever since the second Prophet, anyone who awakened this trait and began to rise was never allowed to survive!"
"When I broke through to the Flame Decay level, I discovered that my trait wasn't entirely complete, so I went to look up relevant historical records." Elena gave a self-deprecating smile. "After learning all of this, I thought it was absurd, even suspecting it was fabricated by later generations. But I didn't dare say a word—I didn't dare tell anyone, fearing that if I spoke out, I would be killed!"
Liam fell silent, exchanging a glance with Leo and the others.
The Prophet Trait was indeed terrifying.
Whether viewed as a prediction or a curse!
Of course, that so-called curse could easily be explained logically; the internal strife of an imperial family wasn't necessarily a magical curse.
Yet, looking at all three generations of Prophets, possessing that trait almost invariably led to supreme dominion.
Whether out of fear that a Prophet would threaten their ruling status or dread over the utter destruction caused by a Prophet's madness in old age, the eight major factions had no reason to let her live.
"So, now that I've explained everything in detail, do you... still want to protect me?" Despair flickered in the depths of Elena's eyes.
Leo curled his lip and said, "I don't buy into any of this nonsense. History isn't always accurate; what the victors write is often fabricated to begin with. You seem perfectly normal right now, and as for future problems, we'll deal with them when they come."
Liam bypassed the philosophical question entirely, furrowing his brow as he asked, "Putting that aside, you mentioned that the trait is unique and that the parchment also holds prophetic power. Just how did you manage to acquire this trait in the first place?"
Elena shook her head. "I have no idea."
Liam opened his mouth to say something, but suddenly, he sensed a terrifying aura closing in rapidly. His expression shifted, and he looked straight at Elena. "Quickly suppress your aura down to the Half-Step Flame Decay limit! We'll talk about everything else later!"
