Chapter 162 Chapter 162
Chapter 162
Avon returned to looking for Charlotte and Kory, hurrying with the search after assuming Charlotte succeeded in throwing Kory out of the house since the shouting died down.
He felt a different aura around Finn, but could not afford looking into it as he’s busy with stopping Charlotte.
He strolled down the stairs, arriving at the mansion’s frontal exit to see nothing but two of his guards standing there on random lookout.
Kory and Charlotte were nowhere to be found. Avon moved closer to the guards, minding to question about Kory.
“Have any of you seen Kory or Charlotte?” His voice questioned, immediately gaining their attention.
Their head fell low in an instant, “No, General. We took post not too long, we have no idea where they could be.” The one of the left lipped a response.
Avon sighed turning around and returning back upstairs. His gut kicked in, telling him something strange is going on.
He wasn’t certain, but something just doesn’t feel right. While ascending the stairs to return back to the room, he heard a loud groan.
The sound of the groan sounded familiar which made his steps hastened as he locate where the groan came from.
He found Charlotte on the floor sitting up with a palm on her forehead. He looked around the guest room, there was no sign of Kory.
“Charlotte?” Avon called, gazing at her with scrutiny.
“Yes…!” Charlotte answered amidst groans before managing to lift herself into standing up on her feet.
“Where is that bitch named Kory. She’s not whoever you guys think she is, she used something on me and I don’t know. I swear I was in her body, I was her for sometime. Where is she? I need to know how she did that?”
Avon stared with skepticism, not knowing whether her words her trustworthy or literal false.
“How should I know this is the real you and not Kory still posing as you. You’re going to need to tell me something Kory doesn’t know but you know, just to be sure it is you.” Avon said while crossing his arms over his chest.
“I hated you when we first met. I thought of you as a retired soldier who doesn’t worth my daughter, then my in laws went on and poisoned your cup during the dinner we hosted for you to let you know we’re accepting you into the family. Would an imposter know that?”
“Fair enough. Now where is Kory herself? She’s not in here?” Avon asked, once again taking another look round the room.
“She did whatever she did the first time back to me so I passed out again. But I’m telling you, that girl is not natural. She has some kind of juju and I don’t think she’s in your life to do some good. I think she’s a witch if that exists, I don’t even know what exist anymore. All I know is we need to…..”
Avon turned himself around walking out of the room, her ramble was beginning to tap on his nerve.
“Lorraine is waiting for you in Kory’s room. You probably should go and meet her and you both can go downstairs for dinner, help me inform her I have some things to finish up and would be in my office. Thank you.” Avon cut in between her rambling, excusing himself and without waiting for a response dashed off her presence.
Finn halted on a spot staring at a strange looking lady dressed in a maid uniform holding a tray that had an apple and knife on it.
Kory on the same hand stayed rooted to her spot gaping at the man who seemed to have doubled the cuteness in his appearance.
His hair was now gelled, which was an unusual look she had never seen on him before. Same with his straightened and trimmed eyebrows, he was looking all different and definitely hotter than before.
All she just had to do is seduce him and get him wrapped fully around her fingers with this new look or resort to the first initial plan.
He might be interested in only her formal look or body, that is going to be her only reason for still agreeing with the plan.
Kory heaved a deep sigh before pushing herself off the spot and breaking into motion. She was closing up the distance between them, fast approaching him with her steps light and elegant.
She held her head low, putting up a facade that she’s still nothing but a maid who happens to run by him near the bridge linking the mansion to the maid’s quarters.
“You. Wait!” Finn instructed the moment she got to him about to pass him by. A difference in his voice also, Kory looked up at him.
He doesn’t seem like the old Finn at all. Nothing is the same about him, she was ready to believe that her partner had gone behind her back and carry out the plan on Finn.
The plan was for her to get Finn wrapped in her fingers so they can jump him into Finn’s body.
But Kory grew some attachment towards Finn and stalled the plan saying there’s no need because Finn would do anything she wants him to do.
“Is there anything you need from me Sir Finn.” She asked in a soft polite voice, her head bowed in respect.
A humming sound from him came as a response. Kory was tempted to take a glance at his expression, but beat it hard keeping her head glued to facing the ground.
“You’re not who you said you are. Are you?” His different voice boomed the question, startling Kory a little bit that caused a jump in her heart.
“Huh?” She toned out in confusion, finally gazing up at him, meeting his gaze that scrutinized her.
“I think we have the same goal. You should follow me Kory, let’s discuss.” Finn said to her, turning around as he walked away.
Kory was astounded. How did he knew it was her when she never told her. How did he knew?
