Chapter 104 The Confrontation
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a purple glow over the Palace, a treacherous plot unfolded within its walls. Consumed by his thirst for power, Prince Andy had rallied his warriors and guards, colluding to overthrow the rightful ruler of the Dragon Kingdom. Armoured guards surrounded the Palace, their swords glinting in the fading light. Prince Andy had set intricate traps, cunningly designed to ground the majestic dragons and prevent them from fleeing to seek aid.
News of the coup reached the seventh brother, Prince Edmonton, who had valiantly defended the southern border. Fueled by loyalty and justice, he swiftly mobilised his men to return to the Place and to protect the King and the courts within the Palace. The clash was fierce, and the palace walls trembled with the echoes of swords clashing against shields. Edmonton's forces fought bravely, but they soon found themselves surrounded by the overpowering might of Prince Andy's ruthless army. All seemed lost.
But then, a surge of determination coursed through Edmonton's veins. With unwavering faith in his cause, he fought through the enemy lines, spearheading a counter-attack that shattered their ranks. His sword danced with precision and purpose, protecting the King and his loyal subjects.
Together, they emerged victorious, with Prince Edmonton capturing the surviving traitors. Though grateful for their courage, the King was unwavering in his decision for justice. He ordered Prince Andy and his co-conspirators to be brought before him for judgment. "Behead them, Edmonton," the King commanded, his voice heavy with disappointment and sorrow.
Edmonton bowed, his heart burdened with the weight of his duty. Yet, a thought gripped his mind as he prepared to complete the sentence. There had to be another way, a chance for redemption. "Father, may I propose an alternative?" Edmonton's voice trembled slightly, a mix of fear and conviction. The King's weary eyes met his son's gaze, curiosity mingling with his weariness. "Speak, my son." "Let us imprison Prince Andy once more, deep within the dungeons. He must face the consequences of his actions, but perhaps, given time, he may learn the error of his ways," Edmonton proposed, his voice laced with hope.
The King considered his son's words, recognising the desire for justice tempered with mercy. "Very well, Edmonton. Prince Andy shall be returned to the dungeon, where he will receive nothing but the bare necessities of life. Ten lashes each day will serve as a reminder of the darkness he embraced. This will be so until Queen Portia comes to give her final justice."
Edmonton nodded, grateful for the opportunity to prove that even those who have strayed from the path of righteousness can still find redemption. He understood the importance of Queen Portia and King Leo's final decision and vowed to support them wholeheartedly.
Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, as Prince Andy languished in the dungeon's depths, his spirit broken by the weight of his deeds. Meanwhile, the throne of Wisdom awaited the arrival of Queen Portia and King Leo of Poland, whose Wisdom and judgement would guide the realm towards a brighter future.
As the fate of the Dragon Realm awaits, the Dragon Princess still hangs in the balance.
After the confrontation between Lisandra and Prince Andy, Portia became ill and was sent home with Titan and Martika. These two siblings became favourites of King Leo.
Portia's recovery was slow but steady. Her body was weak, but her spirit remained strong. She could sense the life growing inside her, but she couldn't understand why her body was changing. Her husband, Leo, stood by her side, offering support and comfort in his soothing voice. "You're not getting fat, my love," Leo whispered, running his fingers through her hair. "You're carrying our child." Portia's eyes widened with surprise. She hadn't even considered the possibility. Her mind was clouded with thoughts of revenge and justice, leaving no room for the joy of motherhood. She reached for Leo's hand, feeling a mixture of emotions flood her heart. "But how..." she began, her voice barely a whisper. "How can I be pregnant when I was poisoned?" King Leo, at a loss for words, struggled to find a way to explain the inexplicable. He knew in his heart that Portia was in denial, still grieving for the loss of their unborn child. With a heavy heart, he made a decision. "We'll talk about it later, my dear," Leo said, his voice filled with sorrow. "Right now, we must focus on the task at hand."
Without hesitation, King Leo ordered the portal to be opened. The majestic red and gold dragons came forth, their riders ready for whatever challenges lay ahead. Portia mounted her dragon with determination, prepared to face the truth and seek justice for her family.
As they arrived at the Palace, Portia's heart sank at the sight of the desolate flags and the damaged castle walls. The dragons, restless and eager to break free from their restraints, had wreaked havoc in their attempts to escape in the battle between the King's men and Prince Andy's men. Entering the main hall, Portia saw her Father's Court assembled, each person seated with their loyal dragon behind them. Both bound by golden wires, Prince Andy and his dragon stood as the symbols of betrayal and greed. His eyes burned with fury as Portia approached him.
"Prince Andy," Portia's voice rang out, firm and steady. "Because of your jealousy, greed, and evilness, you will be sentenced to death, and your children shall serve mine for four generations. It is a life for a life." The room fell silent as Portia's words hung in the air. The tension was palpable, and Portia felt satisfaction and sadness. She knew justice had to be served, but it pained her to condemn Prince Andy, once a beloved family member.
King Draco, his heart heavy with grief for his daughter's loss and the harsh reality of the situation, nodded in agreement. It was a difficult decision, but justice demanded it.
The sentence was delivered, and Prince Andy and his dragon were taken away, their fate sealed by their treachery. Portia took a deep breath, pushing her emotions aside, knowing there were still battles and a kingdom to protect.
As she made her way back to her dragon, Portia vowed to herself that she would uncover the truth behind her poisoning, bring her eldest brother's killers to justice, and ensure the safety and prosperity of the Dragon Realm. The journey ahead would be challenging, but she stood tall, ready to face whatever lay in her path. She sent Titan on a mission to find her dragon egg and return it to her kingdom, where it would be safe now. This was just the beginning of the Dragon Princess's fierce determination to protect her family and fulfil her destiny as the rightful queen of Wisdom.
