Chapter 101 Heartbreaking Loss
POV Titan
My Father, King Draco, summoned all five courts to the Royal Hall, buzzing with anticipation as we waited for Lisandra's sentencing. The atmosphere was tense, every eye fixed on the King's throne. Father's voice echoed through the grand hall, commanding attention. The room fell silent. He delivered his judgement, and Lisandra's screams pierced the air. She pleaded for Prince Andy's help, her desperation evident. But Prince Andy remained cold, unmoved by her pleas. Until she uttered those fateful words—I did it for you, Andy. Suddenly, the weight of her statement hung heavy in the room, casting a shadow of doubt.
.
Father, too, seemed taken aback by her admission. Prince Andy, who had escaped severe punishment, was warned to manage his household better. It was a lenient sentence, leaving us all questioning the depth of his involvement. Was Father too lenient on Prince Andy? With Lisandra's fate sealed, we gathered in the hall for a meal before Portia returned home. The relief of the ordeal overwashed me, but a different kind of tension lingered.
I was worried for my sister, who was investigating Prince Andy's court. Would Prince Andy intervene with one of his diabolical plans? King Leo said that Portia was two months pregnant, a secret that was kept hidden. The weight of this new life growing within her added to the situation's complexity. Anyone with a sharp eye could see she was a little heavy, but she denied it, saying she was happy and plump. We all ate a scrumptious meal, and little did we know what would happen next!
I walked with her to the Portal and felt the dragon’s egg pulsating nearby. That was a confirmation that a dragon baby was on the way. As Queen Portia prepared to leave, her dragon tears cascaded down my cheeks. He clung to her, begging her to take him along. However, the constraints of the Portal allowed only human travellers now. She tethered him by a rock, promising to mind-link me when to take him home. Would Prince Andy capture the dragon's egg and destroy it so that Portia's baby would die before I get to the palace?
Crossing over the Portal into her magical garden, I saw her double up and heard a sudden scream as she was seized by excruciating pain. I crossed the Portal, something I never did before. She screamed, clutching her abdomen, and within moments, the guards appeared, summoning her husband, King Leo, to her side. Panic filled the air as they rushed her to the hospital, unsure of what was happening. Within the depths of that pain, a new chapter was about to begin. The doctors put her to sleep as her body was going through a process only she and God could take her through. Whatever Queen Portia ate that night had an instant effect on her. I summoned my stepmom immediately. Lady Joanna came, but she was too late to do anything.
POV Queen Portia
I woke up in a hospital bed, confused and disoriented. The last thing I remembered was the searing pain that had consumed my body. My husband, King Leo, sat beside me, his eyes puffy from crying. His hand clasped mine tightly, offering me some solace.
As I regained consciousness, King Leo recounted the harrowing events that had unfolded while I was unconscious. They had rushed me to the hospital's emergency room, where my convulsions and pre-labour cramps had caused my womb to dilate. The doctors had fought tirelessly to save our baby, but it was too late. I had lost our child before I even had the chance to know them, but I was in denial. I told him no, I was not pregnant. It was just a terrible period, or probably the effects of food poisoning.
Tears streamed down Leo's face as he shared the devastating news. The weight of our grief hung heavy in the air, an invisible presence that seemed to suffocate us both. No words could ease the pain he felt as he mourned the loss of our little one.
Desperate to find some semblance of solace, Leo had sent for his parents and grandparents. They arrived swiftly, their love and support a balm to his wounded heart. Standing by my side, Leo shared the heartbreaking reality with his family. He couldn't bear to be the one to tell me that our baby was gone.
At that moment, Leo's father, King Ferb, spoke up. His voice held a mixture of sadness and regret as he revealed a secret that had haunted their family for a generation. He explained how he had met the Red Witch of the South when he was young and handsome—an unrequited love. But shortly after, he met King Leo's mother, Estrella and fell deeply in love with her.
However, King Leo's mother had been deeply hurt by King Ferb's past with the Red Witch. In her anger and despair, she had placed a curse upon the entire kingdom. From that generation onward, the royal family would be unable to bear children. King Leo was not the biological son of King Ferb, How then can this curse be transcended to him?
King Leo's anger flared, vowing to uncover the truth behind this curse. Determined to find a way to break free from its grip, he immediately called upon Isabella and Sophia, two powerful sorceresses, for their assistance. Together, they would delve into the depths of magic to seek a solution to this devastating curse that had plagued our family for so long.
The story was far from over. As we gathered our strength and rallied our spirits, we knew there was still hope for a brighter future. The loss of our precious baby had left a void within King Leo, but we were determined to honour their memory and fight for a world where our love could create life.
So, with heavy hearts, we embarked on a new journey that would lead us to unravel the secrets of the curse and bring forth a future where our love and those who came before us would flourish once more.
