Chapter 94

The sudden appearance of the zombies totally caught the team off guard.

But the panic only lasted a moment.

Richardson was guarding Iris and Monroe, so nothing too crazy could happen.

Even Jasmine and Number One didn't bother looking back, just kept clearing the zombies in front of them, cool as cucumbers.

"Fall back, leave this to me!"

Richardson pushed Anna aside, not expecting the zombie's entrance to be so dramatic.

But no matter how flashy it was, there was only one outcome!

It was gonna turn into experience points for everyone's evolution!

The metal zombie roared, and you could tell from its look that its special ability was a metal body.

Richardson's machete struck it, only leaving a shallow scratch.

"Another guy with max defense?"

Richardson started doubting his luck, wondering why he always ran into these kinds of monsters.

No matter how many times he upgraded his weapon, breaking through the defense was still the hardest thing.

Richardson had evolved four times and turned into a dragon man, so he could pretty much resist attacks from ordinary three-time evolution ability holders.

But most of the time, Richardson was fighting above his level, which made him feel overwhelmed.

"If you can't cut through, just twist his head off!"

This time, Richardson wasn't alone. Helen, who had followed Anna back to the safe area, shouted out ideas to Richardson.

Looking doubtfully at the metal zombie, Richardson was a bit confused.

My knife couldn't cut through, and you want me to twist his head off?

Was that even reasonable?

Despite his doubts, out of trust in Helen, Richardson activated his dragon man transformation and handed the machete to Anna.

"Is this really gonna work?" Anna asked Helen, feeling unsure as she took the knife.

"Don't worry!" Helen assured her with full confidence.

In one swift move, Richardson dodged the metal zombie's attack.

The next moment, without giving the zombie a chance to react, Richardson flipped over and got behind it.

Straddling the zombie, he grabbed its head with both hands.

Richardson twisted with all his might!

A crisp sound rang out as Richardson twisted the metal zombie's neck at a strange angle, with visible cracks and signs of stretching in the metal neck!

"Oh my god, is there hope?"

Helen's suggestion actually worked. Richardson shouted in surprise and then exerted more force!

"Of course. Metal's hard, but it doesn't mean it can withstand soft forces! Never mind, I can't explain these principles to you guys. Just know that I'm right." Helen boasted proudly.

Lily finally couldn't stand it anymore.

"Is it possible that this is just basic physics, and Richardson just didn't learn it?"

Anna, who was admiring Helen, blushed when she heard Lily's words.

So, it wasn't just Richardson who hadn't learned it; neither had I.

The sound of metal breaking interrupted Anna's embarrassment.

A five-time mutated zombie, without the chance to show its strength, had its head twisted off by Richardson, becoming everyone's experience.

"I'm evolving!"

"Me too!"

"And me!"Anna, Jasmine, and Lily all exclaimed at the same time!

Except for Karen and Richardson, who were busy forging weapons and hatching the Dragon Clan, the other three girls started their fourth evolution simultaneously!

"Master, leave this to me and Number Zero," Number One shouted, seeing the situation was getting intense. He assured Richardson that he could handle the zombies.

"Oh my god, all at once?"

Before Richardson could even celebrate killing the five-time mutated zombie, he saw Anna and the girls sitting down, starting to evolve.

"Karen, cover this side. I'll take them to the wall, don't worry."

Richardson called out to Karen, feeling lucky she hadn't started evolving yet. With only three immediate combat powers left, it could have been really dangerous.

"Don't worry, the little black dragon and I can handle it!"

Karen, though struggling, insisted she was fine.

Seeing this, Richardson didn't waste any time. He pulled Anna and the girls to the corner of the wall, sitting them with Iris.

Then, grabbing the machete from Anna, he charged forward.

"You go back and guard them. The three of us will stop the zombies. When Iris and Monroe finish evolving, let them come support me!"

Richardson ordered, and Karen quickly turned around, withdrawing from the zombies' encirclement to guard Anna.

During evolution, the intense pain would temporarily rob them of their combat abilities. Karen understood why Richardson had to guard them.

He couldn't entrust Anna and the others' safety to Iris and Monroe just yet. They were too important to him.

Even Karen had no objections. She would firmly guard her three companions.

"It's okay, Master. Guard against the zombies coming down from upstairs. There shouldn't be any more surprises. You should rest too."

Helen jumped onto Karen's shoulder. Though not very close, they were intimate comrades at this moment.

Breathing heavily, Karen nervously scanned her surroundings, afraid of missing any trace of a zombie.

She was the last line of defense beside Anna, Lily, and Jasmine. No room for error!

Resting was out of the question. Karen became even more nervous.

Fortunately, Richardson, Number One, and Number Zero were reliable. Despite countless zombies attacking, they held the line firmly.

Not a single zombie got close to Karen.

About ten minutes later, the entire team had completed their evolution.

Richardson leaned against the wall, finally able to sit quietly and catch his breath.

Like Karen, the sudden intense battle hadn't consumed much of his physical strength. The peripheral zombies weren't too strong; not even a four-time mutated one had appeared.

The main exhaustion came from the mental stress, the highly tense battle, and the need to closely monitor everything around."That's awesome, everyone’s getting stronger. Richardson, I guess we’re next in line for evolution, right? And Number One too," Karen said, leaning on Richardson and smearing some blood on his shoulder.

"Yeah, but I think Monroe might be catching up to us. She's only evolved twice. I just hope when it's our turn, we don't run into so many unexpected events!" Richardson replied, feeling a bit emotional.

Honestly, evolving in this apocalypse was a terrifying ordeal for everyone. Even Richardson, with his ability to stop time, wasn't exempt.

In fact, Richardson's ordeal was even more intense than the others.

"Don't overthink it. By the way, is my shirt almost ready? How much longer do you think?" Richardson asked Karen. They both had been using a lot of their energy to forge weapons and hatch the Dragon Clan, which is why they avoided the peak of the team's evolution this time.

"I think we're still missing a five-time mutated zombie. You'll have to put in a bit more effort. My goodness, when I saw you twist that zombie's neck, I was completely stunned."

Karen rarely argued with Richardson, but hearing her praise herself made Richardson smile happily.

"Stay humble!"

As they chatted casually, the team quickly cleared out thespace and gathered in a relatively safe store to rest.

Finally, with everyone resting, they began curiously discussing the new abilities they had acquired.

Since Iris and Monroe were new members, everyone didn't pry too much. Special abilities were personal and could even threaten life safety!

Unless in a special trusting situation, no one would easily reveal their abilities.

Because Iris and Monroe were present, Anna and the others kept it brief.

Richardson understood that Anna was continuing to enhance her medical abilities.

Lily chose to strengthen her stealth abilities.

Jasmine was more straightforward, always fervent with War Fever!

"I gained a dynamic visual ability, which makes me feel more accurate when shooting arrows now," Iris whispered to Richardson.

She trusted the team members but didn't want to say too much for Monroe's sake.

This was something Helen didn't understand about human relationships!

"Got it."

Giving Iris a knowing look, Richardson continued to study the internal map of the commercial building.

It was a standard escape route map, showing the layout of the shops in the mall and the locations of several emergency exits.

"I think we should follow this route. If there's a problem, we can rush out through the emergency exit and jump directly from the second floor. Also, Master, look at the terrain here—it's very complex. It's easy for zombies to get in and then not find the way out, becoming trapped. We can explore this area; we might discover something interesting."

Helen, despite being a cat, could read maps. Quite miraculous.

"Are you saying there might be powerful mutated zombies here? Actually, I'm more concerned about whether there might be other mutated zombies on the third floor."Richardson pointed to the hallway map on the third floor, feeling somewhat expectant.

In fact, this kind of speculation was just a matter of luck.

Seeing Richardson wanting to go to the third floor, Helen naturally raised her paw in support. "The third floor is also fine. That's the food area, with more foot traffic, so there might be more strange zombies. If you're interested, we can go take a look. The smell on that floor, Master, you need to be mentally prepared."

Helen was no longer a newcomer to Earth.

She knew how disgusting it was when bodies decayed, and she also understood that the smell of rotting food was similar to that of corpses.

"How about we check out the second floor now?"

Since the incident with the Ghoul, almost all members of Richardson's team had developed a love for cleanliness.

Fighting was one thing, but just the thought of a large amount of food rotting on the third floor and the smell that came with it made Richardson recoil.

Not only Richardson, but Anna and Lily also almost simultaneously said, "Let's check out the second floor first, and if there's nothing, then we can go to the third floor. I was thinking of having dinner when I got back, please."

Seeing everyone unanimously decide not to go to the third floor, Helen stuck out her tongue, tilting her head, saying, "I actually can't stand strange smells more!"

After a brief rest, the team, following Helen's planned route, decided to continue exploring the second floor.

In theory, today's gains were already sufficient.

One four-time mutated zombie, one five-time mutated zombie.

Except for Number One, Richardson, and Karen, everyone had completed one evolution.

But due to the threat from the Creator's followers, Richardson still hoped to complete the evolution and then return to the Golden Karen Hotel.

At least after the fifth evolution, he would gain a new special ability.

And his physical fitness would also correspondingly improve, giving him some means of defense against the sixth-tier Amon or zombies.

"You guys are really something."

Monroe still seemed unaware of the team's current situation, admiring Richardson's team.

No wonder everyone was so strong, these people were more addicted to killing zombies than playing games!

"If magic power could be enhanced in this way, believe me, zombies would become rare creatures," Karen helplessly shrugged.

Although Earth had become an apocalypse, for people from the Battlefield World, it was still a peaceful place.

Because of the cruelty of the Battlefield World, only those who had experienced it could understand.

And the desire for power there was something that small girls like Monroe would never understand!

"By the way, Amon didn't die. Iris, do you think he might come to attack us tonight?" Thinking of Amon still being alive at school before, Karen proactively asked Iris.

"If he had that ability, he would have come already. I think all the Lords are curious about the progress of Lord Dragon's Dragon Clan discovery plan, and whether the Dragon Clan is ready to wrap up. So they're all sending people to interfere with Amon's mission, even trying to get some information from him. We've been so peaceful this week, we have to thank these warring Lords."
