Chapter 100

Anna was pretty bummed out because she didn't feel any different after evolving with Richardson.

Even though her skills and potential got a boost, she didn't notice any real changes.

This left Anna super frustrated.

Normally, she wouldn't mind being a bit clumsy.

But everyone else got cool new abilities after evolving, while Anna stayed the same old Anna, nothing special.

This imbalance really got her down.

Luckily, Helen picked up on this right away.

She quickly stepped in to cheer Anna up.

Helen wasn't making stuff up either. The special combat technique she mentioned was something only Anna could try and master.

"Anna, after your fourth evolution, your medical skills got a boost. Your healing ability has a new feature you just haven't noticed yet."

Seeing Anna's interest, Helen got straight to the point, "Did you notice that when you were healing Monroe yesterday, your healing energy went into her body without her needing to give permission? Basically, your harmless healing energy can bypass most people's defenses, making it impossible to resist!"

Helen, who had gotten smarter, showed her wisdom by explaining the new combat method to Anna in a clear way.

Anna nodded, still a bit confused.

Yeah, when she healed people, she didn't need their consent. Her healing energy just went in and did its thing.

But wasn't that normal?

"Normal?" Helen shook her head.

She went on, "Think about it: before surgery, patients need anesthesia to stop their defense mechanisms from kicking in. So, why do they need anesthesia even though they know they're being treated? And why don't they need it when you're treating them?"

Helen's words left Anna stunned.

Yeah, why?

"So, your healing can break through people's defense mechanisms, which is a big deal!"

Helen summed it up, making Anna realize her energy had this hidden feature.

But what does this have to do with the new combat method?

Anna looked at Helen, waiting for more.

"Of course, it's related!"

Even though Anna didn't say anything, Helen seemed to read her mind.

"Think about it: for the injured, your energy heals them. But what about healthy people? Will your energy still get through their defenses and forcefully heal them? If a healthy person suddenly got your high-powered healing, what would happen? I'd call it 'overflow healing'!"

Helen's words opened up a whole new world for Anna.

She listened, totally intrigued.

"Healing a healthy person... So you mean, I can heal healthy enemies, put them in an overflow state, and create a control effect to give my teammates an opening?" This time, Anna caught on quickly. She got the gist of the combat method without Helen having to explain further!"That's right!" Helen said, her eyes lighting up with excitement. "This stable and forceful way to control enemies is exactly what our team needs. And beyond just control, I bet you can come up with other clever uses. Think about it: a scalpel is for treating patients, but it's also a super sharp weapon. If you can turn your energy into a scalpel, you could heal your teammates and slice up your enemies at the same time. But you'll need to practice a lot to get the hang of it."

After laying out her whole idea, Helen had Anna wide awake and buzzing with excitement.

She was thrilled!

As the team's doctor with not-so-great motor skills, Anna was usually the one everyone had to protect. But she often felt frustrated by her lack of combat abilities.

"I want to try it right now!" Anna said, eager to find a healthy person to test Helen's theory on.

"Hold on. Besides that, I've got some more analysis for you," Helen said, stopping Anna from rushing off to potentially harm her teammates. "The Master's evolutionary ability definitely has an effect, unless you haven't noticed the direction of your evolution. As a doctor, your control and adjustment skills should have improved a lot. The problem is that this ability is subtle, so it's hard to see clearly, and you haven't paid much attention to it. This could make you think the evolution didn't work."

Helen tossed a spoon from the bedside table's water cup to Anna. "Try using a knife to carve words on the handle of the spoon. The finer, the better! Tomorrow, have others try this, too, so we can see if your power control is really better than theirs."

Helen was really smart and resourceful.

Looking at the meticulous Helen, Anna couldn't help but jump on the bed, hugging Helen tightly and giving her a big kiss!

"Thank you, Helen."

"You're welcome, Anna."

The night was long, but it flew by in a flash.

Over at the school, Amon finally gave up on eating raw food and cooked a big pot of porridge for himself.

Since the enemies had pretty much shown their hand, three of Lord's followers were being controlled by the red-clothed zombies.

And they were keeping him stuck in the cafeteria, not letting him leave.

So Amon just accepted it. If they wouldn't let him leave, then he wouldn't leave!

Since his position was already blown, Amon didn't care if the fire would attract more enemies. He indulged himself and drank a big pot of porridge!

After eating raw food for so long, switching to hot food made Amon so happy he almost cried!

This mission was insanely tough.

From the moment he ran into Iris, Amon hadn't had a break!

First, all his teammates died, and he almost got blown up by that bow.

Then, barely escaping, he ran into four of the Lord's followers hunting him.

He fled to the school in a sorry state, only to find a red-clothed zombie that had mutated six times!

But no matter what, Amon was grateful to still be alive!

As long as he was alive, there was hope.

Were zombies intelligent beings?

There was no clear answer to that.

If they were, the regular zombies wandering the streets sure didn't show any signs of it. However, if zombies weren't intelligent, then how do you explain Richardson's summoned Number Zero, the tentacle zombie from before, and this red-clothed zombie? They all clearly had brains!

Especially the red-clothed zombie; it knew how to team up with humans and even rebel. Its smarts were off the charts, even better than most people.

Anna, for instance, could never plan things out so meticulously.

But it was clear the red-clothed zombie hadn't hit its goal yet.

It was racing against time to complete its seventh mutation, aiming to control Amon and make him its minion.

Even though this zombie was already super strong, why was it pushing so hard?

Its hustle was more intense than the best human workers.

All of this started with a zombie even more powerful than it.

When the red-clothed zombie had just mutated for the second time, there was a tentacle-covered zombie that almost wiped out the whole city.

The central school was nearly affected because it was smack in the middle.

The red-clothed zombie felt the heat from its fellow zombies during that crisis!

It realized then that zombies not only ate humans but could also chow down on other zombies!

To survive, it had to be stronger than both humans and its own kind!

So, the red-clothed zombie started its path of mutation and growth, getting stronger and lonelier as it went.

Its powerful mind control abilities meant it rarely met any real challengers.

But it also struggled to find good targets to control.

Originally, it had spotted Richardson and his crew in the school building, planning to test them out and then control them all.

But for some weird reason, the red-clothed zombie got taken to another place, where it saw its favorite control target, Amon!

But this guy was tough, and the red-clothed zombie's power from six mutations wasn't enough to control him.

So it switched up its strategy.

It decided to control a few other people first, then control Amon and keep him from leaving the school.

After completing its seventh mutation, it planned to make Amon its most loyal minion.

The plan went off without a hitch.

The red-clothed zombie barely hit any snags.

Standing on the rooftop of the school building, watching Amon cook porridge, the red-clothed zombie's murky eyes gleamed with greed.

This human, it liked him a lot!

Strong and powerful!

Meanwhile, in Battlefield World...

Lord Dragon sat in his office, sipping water in frustration.

He was anxious!

But being anxious didn't help!

Unless he decided to go back to Peaceful World himself, he could only wait for Amon to return and fill him in on what was going on.

But thanks to the Government Alliance's rules, all warriors from Battlefield World weren't allowed to return to Peaceful World.

Even as a high-ranking official, Lord Dragon had to follow the rules.

"It doesn't make sense. Before the Dragon Lure Grass vanished, there were clear reports of running into the Dragon Clan. But why hasn't Amon sent any news for so long? Could something have happened to him? Could Peaceful World, which can threaten a sixth-tier Sorcerer, have been personally intervened by that damn Serpent Lord?"Lord Dragon took another sip of tea, feeling a bit bland.

He decided to crack open a bottle of wine instead.

It had been over a week since he sent Amon out, and he hadn't heard a peep.

This made Lord Dragon's usually steady heart start to waver.

He began to wonder if Amon, after capturing the Dragon Clan, had found some secret and decided to betray him.

Or maybe another Lord had swooped in to steal the prize he was about to claim?

"No way, I've worked too hard for too long, waiting for the Dragon Clan to show up. I can't just let this chance slip away. I need to do something, I can't just sit here."

Lord Dragon tilted his head back and downed the whole bottle of wine. His seventh-tier Sorcerer strength made him immune to the effects of alcohol, and he decided it was time to make some changes.

But he had no clear idea of what to do next.

If even Amon, his strongest follower, couldn't come back, then unless Lord Dragon stepped in personally, this would remain a deadlock!

Meanwhile, at the Struggle Organization...

This was Cathy's first full team meeting since joining.

Except for Iris, the whole crew was there!

Seeing over thirty powerful Sorcerers with all kinds of personalities, Cathy was pleasantly surprised! "Red Queen, we have so many fifth-tier members? This is awesome!"

Although Cathy was super smart, she was still just one person. Since she hadn't been in Battlefield World for long, she couldn't keep track of all the data.

For example, she had consistently underestimated the total combat power of the Struggle organization.

Seeing so many powerful allies all at once, Cathy's confidence shot up!

"I never thought that you had been underestimating us all this time! Come on, we're the only organization that can go head-to-head with the Creator organization. We must have some skills, right? But yeah, these guys have some quirky personalities. You'll get used to it." Red Queen said, giving Black King's hand a discreet squeeze.

Taking the hint, Black King quickly stood up. "Everyone, quiet down. I want to introduce a new member of the organization, Sage! For this operation, including Red Queen and me, everyone must follow Sage's command! We're launching a major operation against the Creator organization!"

Black King's voice boomed, immediately quieting the members below.

But soon, as he finished speaking, the previously quiet room became restless again.

Hearing that everyone would be commanded by a new member brought up all sorts of doubts and emotions among the members.

But hearing about a major operation against the Creator organization got everyone pumped!

The rivalry between the Creator organization and the Struggle organization ran deep!

"Sage, it's up to you now. Whether we can take down Lord Dragon this time depends on your strategy and command. We'll all follow your lead."

Black King brought Cathy to the front and then handed the stage over to her.

He returned to Red Queen's side, watching Cathy on stage with a mix of excitement and hope.

Could they really take down a Lord?

"Not just one. There might be another one." Cathy's voice rang out, stunning everyone present with just that one sentence!
