Chapter 93: The Tables Turn
“Jealousy?” Evelyn looked up at him. “Damian, my arm was bitten through and took a dozen stitches. She merely has a skin rash. You call that my jealousy?”
“Who knows if you provoked Pearl yourself!” Sienna screamed from behind Damian, scratching her rash. “Pearl is usually so sweet! She never bites! You must have had some scent that provoked her, or you pinched her! You’re trying to get revenge because I almost secured the deal with Ms. Vance instead of you!”
“Shut up,” Evelyn said, giving her a cold glance. “I am stating facts.”
“The fact is you are petty and malicious!” Damian cut Evelyn off and spoke sternly to the police. “Officers, my wife’s mental state has been unstable recently. Since our marriage ran into trouble, she has become paranoid and delusional.”
Evelyn froze. She stared at Damian. “What are you saying? Mentally unstable?”
“Isn’t it true?” Damian pulled a document from his pocket and handed it to Officer Marcus. “This is her old psychiatric consultation record and evidence of her abusing pets at home.” Damian lied without flinching. The document was a fake that Sienna had prepared just in case, and now he was using it.
“She saw a doctor for depression before, and she has a known hostility toward my secretary, Sienna. She even cut up Sienna’s clothes at home. Can you really trust what a person like this says?”
The officer flipped through the document, his expression growing complicated, and a hint of doubt entered his gaze toward Evelyn. Evelyn stared at the forged evidence—a therapist she had never seen, accusations of things she had never done.
“Damian…” Tears finally rolled down Evelyn’s face, not from pain, but from utter desolation. “You would go this far for her. Wonderful.”
Sophie surged forward, trying to rip the paper. “Damian, you brute! This is a fake! Evelyn has never abused animals! It was Sienna’s dog that tried to kill her just now!”
“Hold her back,” Damian ordered his bodyguards coldly.
Damian adjusted his tie, looking down at Evelyn with arrogant power. “Evelyn, stop causing a scene. Withdraw the report and come home. I can forgive your momentary madness and get you the best treatment. Otherwise, if this goes public, who do you think a judge will believe with this psychiatric report on file?”
It was a blatant threat. He was telling her that with his wealth and influence, he could make lies sound like the truth.
Sienna, hiding behind Damian and itching intensely, felt a surge of wicked pleasure seeing Evelyn’s devastation. I win. As long as Damian was on her side, Evelyn would always lose.
The police officer closed the file, looking awkward. “Mrs. Green, given this documentation and the lack of direct footage showing intent to command the dog… this case will be difficult to prosecute. We suggest you resolve this internally.”
Evelyn closed her eyes, clutching the edge of the wheelchair so tightly her nails nearly broke. This was power. This was Damian’s love for her.
Just as Damian adopted a victorious pose, ready to take Sienna and leave, a steady stride echoed down the hallway.
“Wait.”
A man in a black suit and gold-rimmed glasses approached. He carried a black folder, his presence sharp and commanding. It was Kevin, Ryan’s assistant.
Kevin walked straight to the police, handing over the folder. “Officer, I represent a material witness. I have new evidence I believe you’ll find very compelling.”
“Who are you?” Damian frowned, eyeing the unexpected man with suspicion.
Kevin ignored Damian and gestured for Officer Marcus to open the file.
“This contains a screenshot of Miss Lillian’s chat log with a veterinarian, along with the vet’s sworn testimony,” Kevin stated calmly. “The log shows that two hours before the incident, Miss Lillian specifically consulted on how to use medication to make a docile dog aggressive after being startled, and she purchased a banned neural stimulant.”
Lillian’s face instantly went white, and her legs nearly gave out. She had just returned from the restroom after finding Pearl missing and seeing the chaos. Sienna’s pupils contracted in terror. She looked desperately at Damian.
“Furthermore,” Kevin added the finishing blow, “we detected that stimulant in the teeth residue of the injured poodle. The lab report is also included here.”
Lillian stammered, “No… it’s not… it’s not true.” So that’s why Pearl was missing for so long—he took her for testing!
Officer Marcus’s expression hardened as he quickly reviewed the documents.
“Mr. Damian Green,” Kevin turned to him. “You just claimed Mrs. Green is mentally unstable? Then how do you explain this concrete evidence of attempted malicious assault?”
Evelyn snapped her head up, looking at Kevin, then at Sienna, who was now trembling behind Damian.
Damian froze in place, the psychiatric report he had used to slander Evelyn now looking painfully ironic in his hand.
The tables had instantly turned.
