Chapter 141: The Paternity Test

Chapter 141: The Paternity Test
"Your Honor, after consulting with my client, we no longer contest the signature’s authenticity. However, we argue that at the time of signing, Mr. Green was intoxicated and not of sound mind, rendering him incapable of entering a legal contract."

"Furthermore, the terms are grossly unfair! This is daylight robbery!" The lawyer gestured wildly. "Mrs. Green has been a housewife. she contributed nothing to Omni Group, yet she seeks to strip the company away based on a forgotten piece of paper!"

Octavina couldn't help herself. She stood up and shrieked, "This is a scam! Evelyn, you’ve been plotting against the Greens since college! You acted pure to get close to Damian just for this day! You’re a leech! You never loved him, only his money!"

The gavel struck. "Silence! One more outburst and you will be removed from the court!"

Evelyn watched the mother and son make a scene. Love his money? If she loved money, she wouldn't have refused Mr. K's funding. She wouldn't have dropped out of school to marry Damian when his company was failing. She wouldn't have sold her jewelry to pay his debts.

None of that mattered now.

Wilson looked at the opposing counsel with disdain. He reached into the cooler for a second file. "Regarding 'contribution' and 'fairness,' I believe this evidence will explain everything."

Wilson’s voice rose. "The defense claims the miscarried fetus was not Mr. Green’s, using this as an excuse for his infidelity. Please look at the screen."

The projector switched. A DNA paternity report from an official forensic center appeared. The samples listed were: Sample A (Fetal Blood) and Sample B (Damian Green).

At the bottom, in bold red letters: The probability of paternity is 99.99%. Sample B is the biological father of Sample A.

The room went silent. Even the live stream comments stopped for a moment before a tidal wave of text flooded the screen.

Damian looked as if his spine had been removed. He stared at the numbers until his eyes were bloodshot. 99.99%.

It was his child. He had killed his own child.

Regret swallowed him whole. His lips trembled, a choking sound coming from his throat, but he couldn't form a word. He looked at Evelyn, searching for a trace of sadness, a way to beg for forgiveness.

But Evelyn looked at him with the coldness of a stranger. There was nothing left.

Octavina was stunned. She clutched her chest, gasping for air. The fetus she had called a "bastard" was actually a Green? The grandson she had wanted so badly?

Suddenly, Sienna stood up from the back. She knew if Damian gave up now, she was finished. The shares, the mansion, the title—everything would vanish.

"He’s lying! This report is a fake too!"

Sienna rushed toward the witness stand, ignoring the bailiffs. Her "innocent" mask was gone, replaced by a frantic madness.

"Your Honor, I want to testify! I’m Damian’s secretary! I know the truth about their marriage!" Sienna grabbed the microphone, crying on cue. "Evelyn was cheating long ago! She was seeing Ryan Lawrence and that doctor! I saw them together!"

"That baby wasn't Damian’s! She forged that report to get the money! I never wanted to hurt her, but she was always jealous of me!" Sienna pointed at Evelyn. "She even used her best friend! Sophie Martin spoke out because she couldn't stand Evelyn’s lies, and now Evelyn is framing her for debt!"

The public opinion shifted again. Despite the DNA evidence, the "betrayed best friend" angle was too juicy to ignore.

"Sophie is right outside! She can prove everything! She can prove Evelyn is a complete fraud!" Sienna shrieked.

Evelyn’s hands tightened on her lap, her nails digging into her palms. Sophie. The friend she had protected with her life. Was she really going to stand here and deliver the final blow?

The judge frowned. "Call the witness, Sophie Martin."

The heavy doors groaned open. Every eye—and every camera lens—turned toward the entrance. A figure appeared in the light.

Sophie wore an ill-fitting gray trench coat. Her face was ashen, her eyes ringed with dark circles. She walked to the stand with her head down.

Sienna smirked. I’ve won. If Sophie doubled down on the affair, the previous evidence would be tainted with "suspicion," and the narrative would flip.

"Sophie, don't be afraid," Sienna encouraged. "Tell everyone what kind of woman Evelyn really is."

Sophie stood at the stand, her knuckles white as she gripped the railing. She slowly raised her head. Her eyes were bloodshot. She didn't look at Sienna or Damian. She turned to look at Evelyn.

Their eyes met.

Evelyn looked at her with pain and disappointment, but no hate. Sophie’s body trembled, and a look of absolute resolve flashed in her eyes.
