Chapter 110: The Seduction of Black and White Reversal
The scene instantly exploded. Reporters swarmed the stage, microphones practically stabbing Sienna’s face.
“Ms. Sienna, did you intentionally frame the original wife to climb up the corporate ladder?”
“Mr. Green, were you aware of this? Does this indicate a moral risk within Omni Group?”
“Were the photos accusing Mrs. Green also fabricated by you?”
At the same time, on the live feed monitor on the side of the hall, Omni Group’s stock price, which had been attempting a recovery, suddenly plunged off a cliff. The red drop percentage was horrifying.
Damian stood center stage, staring at the alarming red figures and the mess of evidence on the floor. His face was utterly defeated. Cold sweat dripped from his temples.
It’s over. His IPO conference had become a live-streamed scandal.
He turned to Evelyn. She stood quietly, as if the chaos had nothing to do with her. The eyes that once loved him now held only pure scorn.
“Damian! Save me! They’re ganging up on me!” Sienna, trembling, rushed to Damian and clung to his sleeve. “You have to tell them this isn’t true! Evelyn set me up!”
Damian looked at Sienna’s tear-streaked face, an unprecedented wave of annoyance flooding him. The evidence was irrefutable; how could she still deny it?
But looking at the aggressive reporters and the angry investors selling off their shares, he knew: if he admitted Sienna was the culprit now, he’d be admitting he was blind, that the CEO of Omni Group was a puppet manipulated by his mistress. To stabilize the situation, to save the plummeting stock, he had to protect Sienna.
“That’s enough!” Damian snatched the microphone, his roar blasting through the speakers. He wrapped his arm around Sienna’s shoulder, a deliberately forceful posture to shield her from the cameras. “Security! Get these irrelevant people out! This press conference is over!”
He then turned to Evelyn. “Evelyn, stop causing a scene. We’ll discuss this when we get home. The priority is stabilizing the stock. You are Mrs. Green; you must consider the bigger picture.”
Bigger picture? Evelyn looked at his hand wrapped around Sienna, at his face that demanded his wife tolerate his mistress. The last flicker of hope in her heart was extinguished.
“Fine, I won’t ‘make a scene,’” Evelyn’s voice was quiet but carried through the mic. “Because I don’t need to say anything more.” She ripped off the mic and tossed it onto the floor, making a harsh screeching sound.
Before Damian could process his relief, security guards rushed in, escorting him and a sobbing Sienna toward the backstage area.
Backstage lounge. The door closed, shutting out the outside noise. Sienna immediately collapsed into Damian’s arms, sobbing uncontrollably.
“Damian… you have to believe me…” Sienna cried, her body shaking violently. “This is all Evelyn’s plot! She set a trap for me! Those recordings are faked. Lillian must have been threatened… She’s just jealous I get to be with you. She wants to ruin your IPO and make you lose everything! She’s so cruel—she doesn't care about the company just to get revenge! Damian, you’re all I have. If you don’t believe me, I can’t live…”
Damian was already agitated. The stock was still falling, and his phone rang incessantly with calls from shareholders. He looked at Sienna, who was nearly passing out from crying, and then remembered Evelyn’s demeanor on stage. She had been too calm. Too much like a director who had planned everything, not a victim of a sudden ambush. If it were truly a surprise, how could she immediately summon Lillian and the police?
The seed of suspicion, once planted, grew wildly.
Just then, the door opened. Evelyn walked in. She was there to retrieve her handbag. Seeing the couple embracing, she didn't stop, walking straight to the vanity table.
“Stop.” Damian pushed Sienna away, strode behind Evelyn, and grabbed her wrist. “Did you arrange all of this?” Damian glared into her eyes. “You deliberately agreed to attend the conference just for this moment? You bribed Lillian, you prepared all that so-called evidence, just to humiliate me publicly and destroy Omni Group? Evelyn, I never knew you were so malicious! You would drag the whole company down just for revenge!”
Evelyn was forced to halt. She looked at the man's contorted face, at the unconcealed suspicion and disgust in his eyes.
Suddenly, she laughed.
“Ha.” It started as a soft chuckle, then grew louder, echoing in the small room. The laugh held no joy, only an overflowing bitterness and absurdity.
“Damian, is there sludge between your ears?” Evelyn shook off his hand, rubbing her reddened wrist. Her eyes were those of a person looking at irredeemable trash. “Lillian presented bank-stamped transfer records. The voice in the recording is Sienna’s. The evidence was thrown right in your face, and instead of blaming the person who started it, you accuse me—the victim—of being malicious? Even now, you still believe her?”
Evelyn took a step closer to Damian, the coldness in her eyes making him instinctively retreat half a step. “Are you truly this stupid, or are you pretending? Or does the truth simply not matter to you, as long as you can protect your ridiculous pride?”
“You…” Damian was speechless.
“Damian Green.” Evelyn stopped smiling. “You utterly disgust me.”
With that, she grabbed her bag from the table and walked away, her departure final and absolute.
“Evelyn! You stop right there!” Damian roared in frustration.
But Evelyn did not look back.
