My parents' anger
My heart was beating faster, as if it wanted to leap out of my chest. I felt nervous and awkward, afraid of what would happen next. My hands trembled slightly as I tried to find another topic to distract myself, but my mind kept returning to the situation I was experiencing. The emotions running through my heart were a combination of excitement, admiration, and also doubt.
At that moment, my phone suddenly rang.
Ring-ring!
I grabbed the vibrating phone and quickly saw my father's name appear on the screen. My breath caught, and a sense of unease washed over me. Nervously, I brought the phone to my ear and said, "Hello, Dad. What's up?" I tried to remain calm and hold back the anxiety creeping within me.
"Naina," my father called. As I heard his voice, my breath momentarily hitched. His voice sounded cold and heavy, and I could feel the tension within me. I knew this conversation would not be easy.
With my heart pounding rapidly, I tried to maintain my composure and asked, "What's going on, Dad?"
"Naina, come home," my father said firmly and uncompromisingly.
I felt confused and slightly panicked. Various thoughts and conjectures started haunting my mind, but I tried to keep calm. My heart was racing, as if it wanted to jump out of my chest. "Alright, Dad. I'll come home right away," I replied promptly, trying to suppress the anxiety in my voice.
Ray looked at me with evident concern in his eyes. "What's wrong, Naina?" he asked with worry in his tone.
I gazed at him for a moment, trying to gather the right words. "Ray, my father wants me to come home," I answered, my voice hoarse due to mixed emotions.
Ray appeared worried and reached for my hand gently. His expression was full of care and sympathy. "But, Naina, why is your face... What happened? Is this because of your relationship with Redrick?" Ray asked incessantly.
I sighed heavily, looking at Ray with sadness. "Maybe, Ray. It seems like my father already knows," I whispered, expressing my fear.
Ray seemed concerned for me and felt compassion. He tried to reassure me, "Naina, it's okay. Your parents will understand your decision. They will support you."
I nodded slowly, trying to believe Ray's words. "I hope so, Ray. I hope everything will be alright," I said with a faint hope.
Ray smiled gently, trying to calm me down. "Don't worry, I'll accompany you home."
The journey back home was filled with tense silence. My mind was filled with speculation about what might be happening at home, among the people I loved. My body felt tense, and my breath felt heavy as we approached the house. Uncertainty filled my mind, and I didn't know what awaited behind the doors of my home.
I hoped everything would be alright, silently wishing in my heart.
When we finally arrived home, I thanked Ray for the enjoyable day and hoped that everything would be fine. I saw Ray looking at me with worry in his eyes, his expression showing concern. "Are you okay, Naina?" Ray asked once again.
I tried to smile to alleviate Ray's worries. "I'm fine, Ray," I replied, making an effort to calm myself.
Ray nodded, but his gaze still held concern. "I hope everything will be alright. Don't hesitate to let me know if there's anything I can do to help."
I attempted another smile, although it felt forced on my lips. My heart and mind were torn apart by sadness and uncertainty. "Thank you, Ray. I hope the same," I replied weakly.
"Alright. I'll be here for you. Take care of yourself," Ray said with concern before leaving.
After Ray left, I entered the house and saw my parents waiting there. They stood with faces filled with anger and disappointment. I approached them hesitantly, and it became evident that anger radiated from my father's eyes.
Without giving me a chance to speak, my father immediately slapped my cheek forcefully. The sound of the impact echoed painfully, making my ears ring. "Do you realize the mistakes you've made, Naina?" my father asked with an emotional voice.
My mother joined in, adding to the anger-filled atmosphere. "Naina, this has gone too far! What were you doing at Vans Company?"
I knew this would be one of the toughest moments in my life. My heart felt wounded, and I hoped everything could end soon, returning my life to normal.
"Mom, Dad, my relationship with Redrick can no longer be sustained," I answered with a trembling voice, trying to express firmness in my decision.
My furious mother immediately launched a punch at my face. It hurt and was heartbreaking. "Naina! You! Don't entertain these foolish thoughts!" my mother shouted harshly.
"Dad, Mom, I have made a firm decision," I continued with a sobbing voice, my cries interrupted. However, my parents remained indifferent to my decision. My mother forcefully grabbed my hand, compelling us to go to the Vans family's house to apologize for what happened and mend the severed relationship with Redrick.
"No-no, Mom, I don't want to, please, Mom!" I pleaded repeatedly, trembling and struggling to breathe. I tried to maintain a strong front, even though my heart was shattered by this conflict.
My father stared at me with a sharp gaze filled with disappointment. "You've made a foolish choice, Naina. You don't appreciate what we've built all this time."
My mother added, her voice full of anger, "You have to realize the consequences of your actions. We won't support your reckless decision!"
I tried to smile to alleviate Ray's worries. "It's okay, Ray," I replied, making an effort to calm myself.
