The Tattoos and Secrets
The Tattoos and Secrets
Siara sat in her office, the bright screen of her laptop flashing in front of her, but her mind was a million miles away. She could still picture the waiter’s face—the way his eyes had gone wide when he realized she had seen too much, his movements frantic as he attempted to cover up the bloody mess.
Ekansh had told her that he would handle it but she couldn't bring herself to sit idle and pretend like nothing happened.
He had already helped her a lot and she couldn't risk his life because of her anymore.
Also, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something much darker was at play here. The waiter, the blood, the way the entire situation had seemed like it was all planned. Someone had orchestrated it, and Siara had been right in the middle of it all.
Her hand subconsciously reached for the notepad on her desk, the one she always carried around to jot down ideas or important thoughts. This time, however, she wasn’t writing down anything business-related. Instead, she quickly sketched the tattoo she had seen on the man’s wrist. It had been small, almost hidden beneath the cuff of his shirt, but something about it stood out to her.
She focused, trying to remember every detail. It was a serpent, twisting around in intricate loops, but with a jagged pattern, almost like something was... not right about it.
The tattoo had unsettled her from the very first moment she had seen it. It had looked so familiar, but she couldn’t place where from. The design wasn’t something typical. It had to mean something, and she wasn’t about to let it slip away without knowing more.
Siara picked up her phone and dialed Ayesha's number. Her assistant was more than capable of handling delicate tasks, and this was something Siara couldn’t let go of. She had to know who the waiter was, and more importantly, who he was working for.
Ayesha picked up on the second ring. "Siara? Everything alright?"
"Not really," Siara replied, her voice low. "I need you to do something for me. It’s urgent."
"Of course. What do you need?"
"I need you to look into the security footage of the area where the waiter lives. The building, the street... anything. I want to see if there’s anything on record. If he’s involved with someone, I need to know. And also..." Siara hesitated, unsure how to explain. "I saw a tattoo on his arm. I need you to find out who it belongs to. Look for any connections. It’s important."
"Got it. I’ll get on it immediately."
Siara hung up and leaned back in her chair, her mind racing. She had a feeling that everything she had witnessed was tied to something much bigger than she could’ve imagined. The tattoo was just the beginning, and she had a sinking feeling that this was no coincidence.
Later that evening, Ayesha returned to Siara’s office, her expression unreadable as she sat down across from her.
"Well?" Siara asked, leaning forward. "Did you find anything?"
Ayesha sighed and placed a few papers on the desk. "I checked the area. There are no CCTV cameras in the building or the street. But one camera, just one, was there. However, it looks like someone had deliberately destroyed it. It wasn’t a simple malfunction. Someone knew exactly where to strike."
Siara's heart sank. "Destroyed it? Why would someone do that?"
Ayesha met her gaze. "That’s what I’m trying to figure out. Whoever’s behind this, they clearly don’t want to be seen."
Siara’s stomach churned. The sense of danger was growing.
"And the tattoo?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Ayesha hesitated before replying. "I couldn’t find anything using regular channels, but I have a few... contacts. I dug deeper. It wasn’t easy, but I managed to get some answers." Ayesha paused. "The tattoo is connected to a group called the Black Serpent."
Siara’s brows furrowed, her mind racing as she tried to process the name. "The Black Serpent? Who are they?"
Ayesha leaned forward, her voice dropping lower. "They’re not just a gang or a mafia group. They’re one of the most dangerous, most powerful underworld organizations. They don’t just control street-level crime. They’re involved in everything—from weapons smuggling to assassinations. Their influence stretches far beyond what anyone knows. They’ve been around for decades, moving in the shadows, and they have a reputation for being ruthless. Their symbol, that serpent, it’s their mark. Anyone wearing it... they’re bound to them."
Siara's heart pounded in her chest. The realization hit her like a ton of bricks. She had witnessed a murder—no, not just any murder, but one committed by one of the most notorious mafia groups in existence. She had seen it all, and she had unknowingly stepped into something far bigger than herself.
The Black Serpent wasn’t just any group. They were untouchable. Deadly. And Siara, by virtue of witnessing what she had, had become a threat to them.
She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself. "So, what now? What do I do?"
Ayesha’s eyes softened as she looked at her. "I don’t know yet. But you need to be careful. You’re not just dealing with some low-level thugs here. This is serious, Siara. The Black Serpent doesn’t let anyone slip through their fingers, especially someone who’s seen their business firsthand."
Siara nodded, her mind swirling with a mix of dread and disbelief. "I’ll take care of it. I won’t let them get to me."
Ayesha’s voice softened as she leaned forward. "You don’t have to do this alone, Siara. You can’t keep carrying this weight by yourself. Please... let me help you."
Siara swallowed, looking down at the tattoo she had drawn on the notepad. The image seemed to mock her now, a symbol of something she couldn’t escape. She had no choice. She had to find a way out of this mess, but every path seemed to lead to more danger.
"I can handle it, Ayesha. I appreciate your help, but... this is my fight now," Siara said, her voice firm despite the fear she was feeling inside.
Ayesha stared at her for a moment, the concern evident in her eyes. "I understand. But please, be careful. You don’t know who you’re dealing with."
Siara nodded, her mind made up. "I will. And I’m not alone. I’ll find a way to end this, Ayesha. I won’t let them control me."
Ayesha’s lips tightened into a thin line, clearly worried. "Just... promise me you’ll be careful. Promise me you won’t let them hurt you."
Siara met her gaze and smiled, though it didn’t reach her eyes. "I promise."
As Ayesha left her office, Siara sat back in her chair, the weight of everything finally sinking in. She had to dig deeper. She had to find out more about the Black Serpent and their connections.
But one thing was for certain now. She wasn’t just in danger—she was in the middle of something much bigger than she had ever anticipated. And the Black Serpent wasn’t the kind of organization that let people go without paying the price.
Siara gripped the pen in her hand tigh
tly, her mind already racing with plans.
She wasn’t about to let them win.
