Chapter 82 - Rejecting My Contracted Luna
Emma's POV
My body melts into Thomas's touch and he wraps his arms around me from behind. I haven't felt this at home with another man since Ethan. "I just want to know who was stupid enough to break the bond with you in the first place," he whispers next to my ear. His hot breath on my neck causes goosebumps to travel up and down my body.
"I would have thought that it would be common knowledge," I say as I shake my head to clear it of the lust filled feelings that are swarming inside of my head.
Thomas pulls himself away from me and begins to dry the plates that I am absentmindedly washing. "Everything has been kept under wraps," Thomas says as he sets the dried plates on the counter next to him. "No one even knew you were alive until a few years ago. By then you were already back here."
"I see," I say in confusion. "I thought all of the Alpha's were invited to my Luna ceremony at the Crescent Pack."
"So I was right," Thomas chuckles to himself. "Ezra does belong to Alpha Ethan."
"He does," I see no point in lying anymore or keeping it a secret. Not now that Ethan knows.
"Does the boy know," Thomas asks curiously but I begin to become uncomfortable with all of his questions.
"He does not," I answer shortly, "and I would appreciate it if you would keep this information to yourself. I will tell him when he is ready."
"I see," Thomas says with a bit of a frown on his face. "You were waiting for Alpha Ethan to show up last night."
I scoff angrily. "I don't know what you are talking about."
"Please," Thomas laughs at me. "Your eyes were glued to the door all night long. It was clear that you were waiting on someone."
"I was hoping that my fated mate would show up," I say as I begin to slam the dishes around in the cabinets.
"But neither one of them showed up," Alpha Thomas says smugly. "Now where does that leave you?"
"I don't know, Thomas." I scream at him. "Where does it leave me? I am not some she-wolf that is desperate for a mate."
Slamming one of the dishes down on the counter, it shatters in my hands and slices my palm open. As soon as my blood hits the air I can see the change in Thomas's hazel eyes. He no longer looks like the charming werewolf that I met last night. His eyes are crazed as he stalks towards me. Quickly I wrap a towel around my hand and back away from Thomas.
"Thomas," I say carefully. "THOMAS! Look at me."
Thomas drags his eyes from my bleeding hand up to my eyes but his eyes return to my opened wound.
"Thomas," I begin to beg. "You don't want to hurt me. It is just the smell of my blood. I know it is enticing but you don't want to hurt me."
I walk backwards through the kitchen trying to keep my distance from Thomas but he continues to stalk me. I consider calling for help but I don't want to have to fight off more werewolves when they smell my special blood. Suddenly my back hits the wall and I know I am in trouble. Thomas has me cornered and I have nowhere to go. I will have to fight my way out.
Wrapping the towel tightly around my hand, I ready myself for the attack that I know is coming. A low growl exits Thomas's throat as he takes another step towards me. Needing to distract him, I stomp on his foot as hard as I can and then land a punch on his jaw with my good hand. Thomas stumbles backwards a few steps, giving me the opening that I need to slip past him.
As I slip past Thomas he reaches out and tries to grab me, but I barely slink away from him. Thomas recovers quickly from my attacks and continues to stalk me around the kitchen. Just as I am about to scream out for help, Thomas lunges for me and tackles me to the ground. I squirm underneath him, trying to escape.
Suddenly the kitchen door opens slightly and I can see Ezra's little eyes peeking around the corner. "It is okay Ezra," I yell out to him. "Go get Anna!"
Ezra screams out in fear before running into the kitchen. Balling his tiny hands into fists, he begins to beat Thomas on the back. "Let go of my mommy!" Ezra screams out angrily.
Thomas turns to growl at Ezra but when he sees the fear in my son's eyes he quickly gets off me and backs himself up against the wall. Ezra stands in between Thomas and I and lets out a tiny growl. Thomas is standing up against the wall holding his breath but the crazed look is gone from his eyes.
"Thomas," I try to compose myself. "You need to leave this room. Please go get Anna."
Thomas runs from the room and I let out a sigh of relief. Ezra runs into my arms and wrinkles his little nose. "What is that smell?" He asks innocently.
"It is just Mommy's blood," I try to explain to my child. "It can make people do funny things."
Anna bursts into the kitchen and her eyes are wide with shock as she sees the trail of blood that is all over the kitchen. "Emma," she cries out, not daring to get too close. "What happened?"
"I cut myself on a broken plate," I try to explain. "Thomas... Poor Thomas was caught off guard."
Anna swallows as she tries to contain her inner wolf. "Has the bleeding stopped?"
"I don't think so," I tell her. "I think there is a piece of glass stuck in the cut."
"You need to get to the hospital," Anna's eyes are swirling from brown to black as she tries to control her wolf.
"It isn't safe for me to leave this room," I tell her. "You have to pull out the glass."
"I can't," Anna takes several steps towards the door. "I can't."
"I can," Thomas's voice comes from the other side of the door. As he walks back inside the door Ezra growls at him once again and Thomas chuckles at him. "I am okay now. I promise."
Kneeling down beside me, Thomas takes in a deep breath and slowly unwraps my hand. I keep my eyes trained on his eyes, making sure that he is keeping his wolf in check. Carefully he spreads my wound open and pulls out the large piece of glass that is sticking out of my palm. As soon as the glass is gone my skin begins to knit itself back together.
Thomas lets out a sigh of relief as the smell of my fresh blood leaves the room. "I am so sorry," he says with guilt in his eyes. "I heard Paxton blood can make a man go crazy but I..."
Reaching up, I cup his face in my hands. "Thank you," I tell him.
