Chapter 67 - Rejecting A Wolf

Tom, Nick, and Morel were shocked by the outburst. They looked at the couple in confusion.

"What's going on?" Nick asked. The weirdness between the two was obvious. Did this have something to do with what Jace just did?

"I'm sorry," Jace looked at Aurora and apologized. "I couldn't control myself. I couldn't watch him die."

"The enemy calmly accepted the death of his mate, and you could accept his death?" Aurora knew it was a bitchy thing to say but she couldn't help herself.

"That's not fair Aurora, how could you say that to me." Jace lowered his voice and said.

"What's not fair is you breaking the rules we set before coming here. Making everything out for naught. What the fuck are we supposed to do with him now? Can we control him not to reproduce? You fucking impulsive asshat." Aurora was seething with rage.

"Stop it! Shouting at me won't make it go away now. We will just have to change the plan. Stop acting like a bitch just because you don't want this doesn't mean it won't happen. He is already turning. It's done." Jace stood up and bellowed at Aurora.

Aurora glared at Jace before forming her hand into a fist and gutting him as hard as she could. Jace's body flew backward into the wall.

Jace groaned as his body hit the wall. She didn't hold back, and most of her strength was put into that punch. Blood trickled from the corner of his lips as he smiled warily.

"Maybe we need some time apart to calm down." Jace coughed as he told her this.

Aurora didn't answer she just coldly left the room. The murderous look on her face was enough to scare anybody into moving far away from her.

"Huh," Jace let out a breath in frustration. He never expected her to react that strongly, but then again, he really did something stupid.

Looking at Henry, who was slowly stabilizing, and then at the bewildered trio of Tom, Nick, and Morel. Jace couldn't help but rub his forehead in frustration.

'I really fucked up.' Jace thought as he rubbed the place she hit him. Don't think he didn't know halfway Aurora's punch force weakened.

"Give me a second. I need to heal. She hit me hard."Jace winced as he stood up, clutching his stomach.

The three glanced at each other silently. Just what in the world is happening, Jace fed Henry his blood, and Aurora got so passed off that she hit him.

'Was there something different about Jace's blood?' Nick wondered as he moved to Henry's side and began to check Henry's condition.

After checking Henry's condition, Nick couldn't help but look at Jace. His lips parted as he hesitated to ask. He had to ask Jace what the hell was happening to Henry.

He was on the verge of death, but now slowly the boy was healing. What was his blood? How could it do that?

"You, what are you?" Nick asked. Looking at Jace, who was stretching his body.

"There's no hiding it," Jace smiled warily. "I'm the thing the council spent years trying to make. I am a lycan."

Nick gasped and glanced at Morel. Morel pursed her lips in disbelief. Tom looked at Jace thoughtfully, though, as if he was trying to figure out something.

"If you're a lycan, why come out now? Why not earlier? What is your true motive." Tom asked.

"Do you think it's safe for my mate and I to be prancing around advertising we are lycans?" Jace shrugged, trying to brush off the true meaning of that question.

"You know that's not what I am asking." Tom looked at Jace with a heavy expression. "Why are lycans here? Who are you and why now?"

"Stop," Jace raised his hand, "I don't know what answers you want, but I don't have them. There have been certain circumstances that made us unable to intervene with what was happening here until now. Just know we are here to help. And that's all the explanation you need."

Tom went silently as his nostrils flared. It didn't make sense, the way Jace reacted and Aurora's thundering rage.

"Lycan blood can change wolves into lycans?" Morel asked, Jace glanced at her and gave her a curt nod.

"It's more complicated than that, but essentially, that's it," Jace answered.

"Are you Jace Maddox?" Tom asked, catching everyone off guard. "And is she Aurora Dale?"

"Jace Maddox and Aurora Dale are dead." Jace firmly stated.

"Then why didn't you react that way? Why risk being bled dry to save someone completely unrelated to you? Do you think we are fools?" Tom shouted question after question, completely stopping Jace in his tracks.

"Hehe," Jace chuckled before he repeated his previous statement. "Jace Maddox and Aurora Dale are dead."

"Are they?"Tom asked, pausing to look at Jace closely. "This war is not your war. You have no motive to be involved. Yet here you are involved. I will ask you again. Who are you?"

While Jace and Tom were having a stand-off. Aurora was back at the cave with her head in her hands as she rocked back and forth. Panic overtook her and the indecision began to haunt her.

"Fate has a funny way of playing with people." the father's voice sounded. Aurora, who was wrapped up in her thoughts, rose her head and glanced at the entrance of the cave. He stood there looking at her with a small smile.

"You promised not to interfere." Aurora looked at him with red eyes and said.

"And I haven't interfered, you who can see the future and still don't understand how it is never fixed? That it's the choices you make that make or break the futures you see." He walked inside and sat down next to her.

"I will never become the sixth cardinal," Aurora told him.

"And that is fine. I realize late that forcing my children to do things that they don't want to do is me being selfish. " He told her.

"Then why are you here?" Aurora asked.

"Because my daughter needs me," he answered softly. Aurora gritted her teeth and looked away from him. "I'll sit right here until you are ready to talk again."

That was exactly what he did. He sat there and watched her as she buried her head in her arms, sulking that things weren't going her way.

"What do I do?" Aurora asked him softly. "Making lycans on earth might just throw the balance off. It may result in wars and other nonsense. So what do I do?"

"You kill him before he fully turns and keep your secret til the end, or you embrace the change. Take charge and lead the Lycans back into the world." He told her. "For too long, things have been going wrong with this race specifically. This is also a fault of mine. But you don't have to clean up this mess. I can do it."

"It's because of us it's like this, I won't leave it to anyone else," Aurora said firmly.

"Then why are you here sulking? Is that going to change anything? You are so resistant to doing things that you know you'd be excellent at because of the things that happened in the past. My sweet child, it's okay now. I would never put you in such a position again." He looked at her and smiled gently.

"I forgive you," Aurora suddenly told him. The look on his face was priceless. He probably never thought she'd forgive so easily. "But I won't forget. The lessons I've learned from this are essential to how I would rule over them in the future."

"So you've made your decision?" He asked.

"There was only one decision to make whether I liked it or not." Aurora stood up and let out a long breath. "I hurt him in my anger. It's no excuse to lash out like that, but I'm so stupid.",

"Then go on, go to him. He's probably beating up himself over this." He stood up and moved to the entrance of the cave with Aurora.

"Thanks, Dad," Aurora looked at him and smiled softly before shifting into a bird and flying away. He stood there and watched her leave from his sight with a sad smile.

He touched his chest, where his heart was pounding rapidly. It's true what they say, righting your wrongs does make a change.
