Chapter 82. Like A Dog Kicked Out in The Rain
This image was both warm and sweet, to the point where even the air around seemed to turn sweet, filled with a vague and lingering feeling. In that setting, the sudden appearance of Jacintha clearly felt out of place.
As expected, Raphael's eyes flashed with displeasure. He looked at Jacintha and Jack, the gentleness on his face from just moments ago completely disappearing. "Who allowed you two to be here?" he asked coldly, with a touch of sharpness.
Jacintha immediately noticed that Jack was gripping her fingers tightly, his small body trembling slightly. She lowered her head and saw Jack's little face tensed, as though facing a great enemy. This made Jacintha's heart heavy.
As a mother, she truly felt she had failed. Not only had she been unable to provide Jack with a good life, but she had also let him live in fear and insecurity alongside her. Perhaps she should consider Evelyn's suggestion and let Jack temporarily stay at Carol's house. Once the agreement between her and Raphael was over, she would bring Jack back to her.
That thought briefly crossed her mind, but Jacintha kept a calm face and said to Raphael, "I'm sorry for disturbing you both."
She then turned and intended to lead Jack downstairs.
Sharon suddenly called out, "Jacintha, wait!"
But Jacintha pretended not to hear and continued to walk down the stairs. She didn’t think Sharon was calling her back to say anything pleasant.
Not going very far, Raphael's icy voice rang out behind her. "Sharon asked you to wait a moment. Didn't you hear?"
Only then did Jacintha stop, turn around, and look at Sharon. "Is there something wrong?"
Sharon's voice seemed to show concern. "I heard you're joining a horror movie?"
Jacintha casually hummed in acknowledgment, not saying anything more.
Sharon smiled. "Two days ago, I had a chance to have dinner with Albert. Albert excitedly bragged that he had just received an investment of eighty million, enough to make a truly grand film. But..."
She paused for a moment before suddenly breaking into a smile full of insinuation. "Albert said that investment was brought by you, but he wouldn't tell me who gave you that money. I really wonder who is so kind to you, willing to spend such a large sum to support you like that?"
Clearly, Sharon was smiling, but Jacintha could sense a deep malice behind that smile. Moreover, the way Sharon spoke made Jacintha feel very uncomfortable, as though Sharon was hinting that she and the mysterious investor had some illicit connection.
Jacintha thought Sharon definitely knew the investor was Jason, and that she was also aware Raphael didn't allow Jacintha to have any contact with Jason. Now, Sharon was intentionally bringing up the investment in front of Raphael. Was she trying to use Raphael's hand to put pressure on her?
That thought made Jacintha tense up. She couldn't help but glance at Raphael.
Catching her gaze, Raphael coldly asked, "Why are you looking at me?"
"Nothing," Jacintha awkwardly replied, quickly diverting her eyes, silently breathing a sigh of relief.
Looking back, it made sense. Raphael had never cared about her affairs, never asked how she was doing. Or if he did ask, it was only because he needed her to play the role of a fake girlfriend or to prevent her from contacting Jason.
Other than that, Raphael had neither the time nor the interest to investigate her private matters. Perhaps he couldn’t even imagine that the person who invested eighty million in her was Jason. If he knew, how could he possibly remain indifferent?
Sharon's "use someone else's hands to kill" tactic would definitely fail this time. Jacintha quickly speculated Sharon's intentions in her mind. She thought Sharon would pretend to accidentally reveal Jason as the mysterious investor, but to her surprise, Sharon only glanced at Raphael.
When Raphael showed indifference towards Jacintha, the corners of Sharon's lips curled even more, and her mood brightened. She thought to herself, "Well, I’ll let Jacintha go this time."
Sharon had this thought in her mind, but her words were different, "Jacintha, are you still angry with me? I know, because I was injured unexpectedly, you lost the chance to film The Crimson Crown, so it's understandable that you resent me. But Luke also said he would let you come back to this film, yet you refused. Why are you being so stubborn?"
Why was she being so stubborn? Jacintha almost laughed out of frustration. Sharon had never been falsely accused or humiliated, so she could easily brush aside the pain of others.
Jacintha didn’t want to face Sharon's fake facade anymore, "Sharon, I don't need you to tell me what to do. This isn't a film set, and we no longer have a role to cooperate on. You don't need to act anymore!"
As the words left her mouth, Sharon's smile faltered for a moment, but quickly returned to its usual self, "Jacintha, you really are still holding a grudge against me. Or... maybe I could find another role for you..."
"No need," Jacintha replied coldly.
Sharon turned to Raphael with an expression of helplessness, "It's all my fault for causing Jacintha to lose such a great opportunity."
"Don't worry about her," Raphael stood up, walked over to Sharon, and coldly said, "The Crimson Crown can be filmed without her, can’t it? If she wants to act, let her; if not, then forget it."
Raphael then turned to Jacintha, "Why haven’t you taken your son and left yet? What are you still doing here?"
Jacintha's face remained expressionless as she bit her lip, then bent down to pick up Jack, turning to leave.
Behind her, Raphael's indifferent voice echoed, "Don't come back tonight. Have Cindy take you both to a hotel."
Jacintha's steps faltered slightly, "Got it. I won't bother you and Sharon anymore."
Seeing Jacintha and her son being kicked out of the villa by Raphael, Sharon suddenly remembered the phrase: Like a dog kicked out in the rain.
She chuckled softly, turned her head, and met Raphael's probing, deep gaze, mixed with a hint of sharpness.
