Chapter 37. The Strange Possession of Raphael
Jacintha tilted her head back to look at Raphael’s gloomy face, inwardly sighing in distress. The moment Raphael stepped into the dressing room, Jacintha had a bad feeling. So when Raphael and Jason were speaking, she stayed silent, hoping that keeping quiet would draw less attention to herself.
But she didn’t expect Raphael to still refuse to let her go!
Jacintha had no choice but to say reluctantly, "I didn’t seduce Jason! He was the one who approached me. Today is the first time I’ve ever met him."
Afraid Raphael wouldn’t believe her, she added, "Mr. Wulfhart, you always think I’m after the wealth and luxury of the Wulfhart family. But I swear, I have absolutely no such intention! If I’m lying even by half a word, may I be struck dead by lightning!"
Perhaps it was because her eyes and expression were so calm that Raphael was momentarily stunned, then immediately flared up and snapped, "Who gave you permission to make such vicious oaths?!"
"I just don’t want you to misunderstand me anymore."
"Misunderstand? I haven’t even accused you of coveting my family’s fortune, yet you’re already scrambling to deny everything. What guilty conscience are you hiding?" Raphael glared at Jacintha with a sharp, oppressive gaze.
Jacintha didn’t know how to respond to his interrogation. In front of Raphael, she always found herself in awkward situations. Every word she said could be picked apart and attacked.
She even began to wonder whether there was some deep-seated grudge between her and Raphael. Otherwise, why would he constantly target her like this?
Or was it simply that he hated her?
But if he hated her, he should’ve avoided meeting her, or at least kept her out of his sight. Yet no matter how much she tried to stay out of his way, he was always the one seeking her out to provoke her.
Jacintha truly didn’t understand what Raphael wanted from her.
After that, Jacintha dryly explained, "I’m not hiding anything. Mr. Wulfhart, it’s my scene next. I have to go now..."
"Sit down!" Raphael immediately pressed down on Jacintha’s shoulders, preventing her from standing. His gaze swept over her from head to toe as if inspecting his possession.
Jacintha couldn’t help but stiffen.
Raphael suddenly asked, "Have you and Jason fucked?"
Jacintha’s face froze. She gripped the script tightly, forcing down her humiliation. "No."
Raphael scoffed coldly and kept pressing, "Then have you kissed? Have you touched each other’s bodies? Have you been naked in front of Jason? Has he touched your breasts?"
"Raphael!" Jacintha could no longer hold back and shouted his name, her face flushed red with anger. "What exactly do you want from me?"
Seeing Jacintha dare to question him, Raphael was instantly enraged. But then he heard her voice, choked with grievance, "I’ve already been trying to avoid you. Why won’t you leave me alone?"
As soon as she finished, Raphael’s expression grew even darker than when he first entered. His hand on Jacintha’s shoulder tightened abruptly.
It was as if Jacintha had struck a nerve buried deep inside him. Raphael snarled, "If you really wanted to avoid me, why didn’t you run off to another country?! Go hide in some deserted place and stop hanging around in front of me. You piss me off just by showing up!"
Jacintha was so angry she nearly went numb. "Then do me a favor and be generous. Let me leave."
Raphael sneered. "You want to go out to find Jason, don’t you?"
"Yes, I haven’t thanked him yet for the birthday cake he gave me," Jacintha replied.
In truth, she had no intention of getting involved with Jason. She just didn’t want to endure more of Raphael’s humiliation. She’d rather watch other actors film than keep bickering with him here.
But Raphael took her words at face value. He shouted, "I’m warning you! Jason is my cousin. Don’t seduce him! You’re not going out to dinner with him tonight, and you’re not allowed to see him again!"
Jacintha’s eyes widened. She truly felt Raphael had gone too far today. He was overbearing, irrational, and everything he said made no sense whatsoever.
Perhaps when pushed to a certain limit, a person would develop a sense of resistance. At least at this moment, when she heard Raphael issuing such a domineering command, Jacintha felt a strong urge to defy him.
"I’m currently single. The deal between you and me ended a long time ago. Who I have dinner with is my own business."
In other words, he had no right to interfere in her life.
However, those words remained unspoken. Jacintha’s face remained calm, seemingly unshaken by Raphael’s warning. But the tension in her stiffened posture and tightly clenched fists betrayed the turmoil she was feeling inside.
Raphael stared at Jacintha for a moment, then suddenly curled his lips into a faint, mocking smile, his voice laced with insinuation. "You seduced Jason for money, nothing more. So why not just stay with me? Considering you’ve served me for two years, I’ll give you three hundred thousand a month from now on. If there’s a suitable role, I might even recommend you for it."
As he said this, Raphael reached out and gently squeezed the back of Jacintha’s neck, as if petting a domesticated animal. "You may not be on Sharon’s level, but your sexual skills aren’t bad. As long as you behave, I won’t treat you poorly."
Raphael spoke with a casual, arrogant tone, as if he were bestowing a favor upon her.
Perhaps to others, becoming Raphael’s sugar baby would be seen as a great honor. But Jacintha was certainly not one of them!
From the beginning, what Jacintha longed for had always been a relationship based on equality. If she couldn’t have that, she would never force it. She’d rather bury those feelings deep inside.
Jacintha let out a scornful laugh and said with self-deprecation, "You’re right. I’m nothing compared to Sharon, and I don’t even dare to claim I’m your equal. But I’m still a human being, with feelings! I’m not your pet, and I’m definitely not a sex tool for your physical pleasure. If you need someone for that, go find someone else!"
