Going to say the truth
Going to say the truth
Silence escalated to the atmosphere as they stared at each other in the eyes. Doubt surged up within her, and she wondered if her wish would be fulfilled.
"It's not a problem if you don't want that; happy marriage life in advance." She said with a tone of finality, turned to leave, and started moving away disappointedly. He felt so troubled and started feeling unease, then his wolf howled angrily and screamed.
"Mate," he was dazed at that. How can she be his mate, and he's just finding out? He ran after her and pulled her back, kissing her with so much emotions and desperation, not being ready to lose.
"I am sorry I can't be there for you; maybe it ended like this" she nodded as she walked away with a little fulfillment. She had a memory to hold on to. He watched her leave until she was out of sight. He left for his room sadly, trying not to regret every decision. Alpha Xander came inside his room and locked the door behind him.
"Why are you doing this? Why didn't you tell her the truth? I was expecting you to tell her everything. You shouldn't be lying to her." Alpha Xander's voice was filled with anger.
"I can't, and the worst part is that she's my mate." His face dropped at his announcement. That got to him, and he always slipped but maintained his posture.
"Are you kidding me? When did you find out about this? His voice filled with concern and interest.
"Just as she was leaving, I wanted to hold her close, but my hands were captured, and I couldn't tell her the truth even when my body wanted that. I had to restrain myself" He bit his lips regretfully.
"Why don't we end this? I can tell the truth and face it. You shouldn't put yourself in this unending unhappiness."his voice show disapproval.
"Common, we can’t back down now; she's going to be okay just within time; she will get over me soon," Beta Khan said, as Alpha Xander nodded negatively.
"Nope,we can still end it; that child is mine, and the truth will surely prevail one day. You can’t do this; I am not going to let it happen whether you like it or not; that is my final decision," he said decisively.
"Nope, we can’t end this, not now. Luna Katherine will be very disappointed; everyone will be disappointed in us. You won't trust us anymore. Don’t you know how many invitations we’ve sent out, the Alpha’s we’ve invited? We can’t take those things back. They would think we take them as a joke and might hate us forever. And I can’t let this happen; please, you have to understand," he said as his voice broke.
"But one day we will have to face the truth, whether we like it or not, so why can’t we face it now?" he said, his voice lower than before.
"Because a lot of things will be ruined, the royals will be mocked, you will be dethroned, and you won’t be able to be with your mate. You will lose everything you’ve worked for for many years just because of some girl obsession. Please don’t do this; it’s going to be disastrous." He held his hand.
But for your happiness, I can’t watch you sacrifice that for my mistakes. Why don't I take it from here?" he said with a tone of finality.
"Nope, common, think about it, everyone, Cassandra, your bossy sister will be looked down on in college, your mother who trusted you will be very disappointed and down, and to think about yourself, you will lose everyone. Are you not getting it?" He added, hoping to convey his rationale, but he nodded negatively, which simply means no room for negotiation.
"I don’t still think it’s the best option; I can face everything and decline a marriage with her, but I won’t be selfish." His tone was made up, and he almost gave in.
"Please, Xander, look at this person as your childhood friend and not your beta; let me handle this; don’t be adamant." He tried to guard his emotions but gave in. Alpha Xander took some time to absorb his words. Trying to think from his own perspective, he took a deep breath.
"I agree with everything you’ve said, but on one condition." He glanced at him for a few seconds and chuckled.
"What’s the condition? Tell me whatever you want, and I will sure make it happen," his words came with desperation and eagerness.
"Tell your mate about this; tell her everything about this fake union. Then I will listen to you." He was so shocked and couldn’t believe this was how he was going to get to him.
.
"But I want her to move on without me," his voice crackled.
"With or without you, she will decide if she’s going to move on or stay still; all I want is you telling her. His tone is commanding and decisive.
"Okay, I will do that, but you have to give me sometimes to get hold of myself so I will be bold enough to tell her, this" he says already.
'Okay, but you have until two days; the wedding is fast approaching, and I might not be patient enough if you don’t make an attempt," he said with a tone of finality.
"Such a nuthead, stubborn wolf," Beta Khan cursed under his breath.
"What did you say? I can hear you very well," Alpha Xander asked, and he nodded.
"Do it, bro; you know I am not always a gentleman," he said, tapping his shoulder before walking out of his room. Beta Khan falls onto the bed and gulps down nothing.
"How is she going to react to this? Turn to the wolf and bite me alive. Nope, shes wolfless, slapped me like she did the other day, punched me on the face, and I would collapse, or say it to everyone and everywhere escalate." He couldn’t get himself together as different unreason displays kept running through his head. He took a deep breath. This is like the hardest task for him, and he can’t risk it for anything because if he doesn’t do it, Alpha Xander is going to tell everyone what really happened, and here is his bound between saving his Alpha and his mate, yet he has to treat both with the loyalty they deserve.
"I guess this palace isn’t refreshing for me; let me go to my father's house." He paused and remembered that Agatha, his stubborn cousin, wouldn’t let him rest trying to covey the reasons he doesn’t have to marry the horrible Benita, but yet he felt like going home, and maybe she could ask for the tricks he could use from her. He nodded to the idea, pulled out his phone from his trouser pocket, and placed a call across to Alpha Xander to inform him he’s leaving tonight. And he picked up at the first ringing.
"I just left your room now; do you miss me already, or are you going to see your mate tonight?" He gulps down nothing tiredly as he throws him different questions.
"I am off to my house; bye-bye before you gagged me with questions." He was about to end the call when Alpha Xander's words gripped his attention.
"I hope you’ve prepared yourself to face the interrogation of your brother that you’ve been avoiding," he asked, and I chuckled.
"Don’t worry, I will sneak in tonight; I will surely face him tomorrow morning; at least him scolding me is more better than you're." He clicked the hang-up button before he could say anything and scoffed before heading out.
Beta Khan drove into the compound without horning, trying to prevent his brother from hearing he came back home today. He quietly sneaked in as he signaled the maids not to welcome him. They almost laughed at his childish behavior, but they put on their best demeanor.
"Uncle, you here," Agatha said when he saw him sneaking in.
"Shush," he hushed, and she smiled mockingly.
"How does it go with Sandra? Are you canceling the marriage with Benita?" She asked silently.
"Come with me to my room." He voiced low as he checked around to be sure his brother wasn’t around. And they both sneaked into his room. Thinking he had successfully made it in without getting caught, he took a deep breath, but his disappointment approached as he stepped into his room, seeing his brother sitting on his sofa with his legs crossed. He made an attempt to turn back, but his voice got him to a stop.
"You are welcome," his tone comes threateningly.
