Thalina's POV
The way he looked at me still lingers in my mind. It was filled with fear that I had no idea where it came from.
He was about to dig his fang into my neck but he stopped and looked at me terrified.
I was ready to be marked by him but he refused to do it. Instead, he walked away leaving me dumbfounded and worse tied to the bed.
I can't ask for someone's help because I am naked. I don't want to embarrass myself and let someone see me in this situation so instead of shouting for help I started rubbing the piece of cloth that he used to tie me to the bed.
My wrist hurt from continuous rubbing but I didn't stop until I was untied from the bed.
It took me an hour to free myself from that bed. My body feels tired and I feel sore down there. I want to stand and clean myself but I was too exhausted to even move.
It's been an hour already after we did the deed but I am still lying on my bed filled with confusion, trying to figure out why he reacted that way.
Did he finally realize that I am not worth being marked?
Did he realize that Magnus is right? That I wasn't meant to be his mate because I am too low for him. I am too worthless to be the King's mate?
"Thalina,"
I was pulled out of my thoughts when I heard someone calling my name.
I immediately grabbed my clothes and brushed my disheveled hair before walking towards the door to check who it was.
My eyebrows furrowed when upon opening the door I saw Amelia standing outside my room.
"Princess Atasha wants you to go to her chamber,"
"Why?" I asked but instead of answering my question she turned her back on me and started walking so I had no choice but to follow her.
After a while, we stopped at a huge golden door that was twice as big as mine. The moment Amelia opened the door I saw Princess Atasha lying on her bed while two women were massaging her body.
She was fully naked but she didn't seem to care.
The moment she saw me she signalled the women to leave her then she got off her bed showing me her nakedness so I immediately looked away.
In my periphery, I saw her picking up her robe and when her body was fully covered I looked at her again.
She looked at me straight in the eyes. I have no idea why she called me here but when she got closer she stared at my face intently as if she was trying to figure out something and without any warning, she removed the hair that covered my neck.
"He hadn't marked you yet," she said and those words brought me back to the way King Thaddeus looked at me earlier.
"Why? What will happen if I get marked? Did he mark his first mate too? Did she end up dying because she was marked?"
Princess Atasha took a deep breath and slowly nodded her head.
"I wasn't the one who should tell you the whole story. King Thaddeus might get mad at me if I told you what happened to his first mate but all I can tell you is...staying in the palace will only lead to death Thalina especially for a she-wolf like you who doesn't have anyone who will willingly take the bullet and protect you. You were completely abandoned by your pack so what gave you the courage and hope that you could make it out alive in the palace? I am just concerned for you Thalina,"
I can't see sincerity in her eyes. I know she just wants me gone so I will be out of King Thaddeus's sight. She wants me to disappear so she can have King Thaddeus by herself but I have nowhere to go now. The palace is the only place I know.
"I choose to stay Princess Atasha. I will do everything to gain power. I need to make them pay for what they did to me so I apologize because I won't take your advice. I will stay in this palace and I will do everything to become King Thaddeus' Queen. Let's fight for the spot if that's what you want,"
Princess Atasha's mouth gaped and she looked at me in complete disbelief.
"Can you hear yourself Thalina? You are really competing against me? The princess of the kingdom. The future queen of King Thaddeus,"
I smiled at her and nodded not letting her words get into my head.
"Yes, Princess Atasha I will willingly fight with you to become the queen of the kingdom. I hope you will give me a fair fight and won't ask for anyone's help,"
Her teeth gritted and her fist was balled into a fist as if any minute she would punch but she didn't instead she took a deep breath and gave me a sweet smile trying to hide her rage that was visible in her eyes.
"Fine Thalina if that's what you want. I will give you a fair fight but remember this I always get what I want. What Atasha wants, Atasha gets," she firmly uttered but those words weren't enough for me to back down.
I am aware of that. She grew up as royalty. She grew up in the kingdom and I know she gets everything that she wants but I grew up working hard for everything that I want. I grew up giving everything just to get what I desire so I won't easily back down.
I will become the queen of this kingdom no matter what happens. I will make Magnus and Selene realize that I am not worthless just like what they think. I will gain power something that they cannot acquire and make them realize that they made a wrong choice of hurting me.
"Blood Moon will appear in the night sky in a month. You are running out of time Thalina. You should convince the king to mark you as soon as possible or you will be kicked out of this kingdom," she held my chin and flashed an annoying smile. "Because as for me Thalina, I was already betrothed to the king the moment I was born. I was meant to marry him under the blood moon no matter what happens but I will still give you a chance to convince him. Seduce him Thalina try to steal him away from me and if you succeed then you will get the crown but if you fail..." She paused holding my chin tighter and whispered the words that brought a shiver down my spine.
"I will kill you with my bare hands Thalina,"
