Chapter 130 You Look So Much Like Your Mother

••• Charlotte's POV •••

"We are going to the human world?" I asked her as she was driving to the place where she wanted me to accompany her to.

"Uh-huh," she replied simply, and I didn't ask any more questions since she still didn't want to tell me anything, though I had an inkling that she was bringing me to see the human man from the bar.

After two hours of driving, we finally reached our destination. I was shocked when I looked outside the window to see a bridal store.

Was Livie going to marry her mate so soon?

"Char, let's go!" Livie was already standing outside the bridal store while I was still inside the car. I quickly got off and joined her.

We entered the bridal store, and I saw a tall and handsome man walking toward us.

The man laughed and opened his arms as he saw Livie rushing toward him.

"Char, this is Luis, my fated mate," Livie said shyly as she nestled in Luis' arms.

"Luis, that's Charlotte, my best friend," Livie introduced us.

"It's nice to finally meet you, Alpha Charlotte," Luis greeted me, which surprised me because he used my title.

"It's nice to meet you too, Lui. Just call me Charlotte." I shook his hand.

Seeing Livie snuggling sweetly in Luis' arms made me feel happy for her.

"You seem not surprised to know I'm an Alpha. What did Livie say about me?" I teased Livie even though I directed my question at Luis.

"I didn't say anything!" Livie defended herself, making Luis and me laugh.

"He's part werewolf," Livie added.

"You are part werewolf?" I asked Luis in surprise.

"Indeed I am," he answered with a smile. "Let us sit first, and I'll tell you the history of the store."

"You are the owner of this store?" I asked him. And here I thought Livie was planning to search for a wedding gown.

"I am. It actually is a family business, but now I am the one managing it," he said as he led us to the inner part of the store where the fitting rooms were, and we all sat down on the sofas where Livie helped him to serve us tea.

"Thank you, Luv," he told Livie as she handed him a cup of tea.

"Thanks, Livie." I grinned at her as I received mine, making Livie blush.

"My father was, in fact, a member of your pack, the Moon Crest Pack," Luis said as we all settled in our seats and sipped our cups of tea.

"He was?" Now I felt more surprised. Who would have thought Livie's mate would have a connection to my pack?

"He was." He nodded and began telling me the tale of his dad and the store. "However, around thirty years a so, he lost his mate during a battle with the rogues."

"I'm sorry to hear that," I told him.

"Thank you," he smiled and continued his story. "He was in so much pain back then that he decided to leave the pack and came to the human world to nurse his broken heart. That was when he met my mother, who is a human and then they had me. Now, my parents have lived in the human world for twenty-four years and left the store in my hands, while they live a life of leisure."

"Wow… Your dad found his second chance-mate and live happily ever after," I said and couldn't help but think how my second-chance mate, unfortunately, was an asshole.

"Hello, Olivia, you are here," a woman's voice sounded and I saw a couple who were around my dad's age coming toward us.

"Hi, Mom, and Dad," Livie greeted them with a hug and served them teas when they joined us on the sofas.

"Mom, Dad, this is my best friend, Charlotte Adler, the Alpha of the Moon Crest Pack," she said.

"Char, they are Mr. and Mrs. Davenport, Luis's parents," she introduced us.

"Mr. And Mrs. Davenport, it's nice to meet you," I greeted them.

"It's our pleasure to meet the Alpha of the Moon Crest Pack," Mr. and Mrs. Davenport said with a smile.

Mr. Davenport was a middle-aged man who still maintained his figure. He was courteous and had a lot of life experiences.

"When I lost my mate, I was so grief-stricken that I thought there was no turnaround in my life," he said. "However, the Moon Goddess was kind enough to me. In the darkness, she let me find my new mate and now I have a happy family. In fact, anything, as long as you have the courage to begin again, there will always be a new hope in life."

His words touched my heart.

Begin again?

After Livie told me about her thoughts in the hospital, I had been thinking about how Hayden had truly changed and maybe I indeed was still in love with him.

But I was scared…

I was scared to be in a relationship with him again… With anyone, as a matter of fact. I had two failed matebonds. Should I open my heart again?

But Mr. Davenport's words couldn't help but made my heart stir uncontrollably.

Could I really begin again with Hayden?

It would really be a lie if I said I wasn't touched by all his efforts to redeem himself…

Maybe… Just maybe…

I could give him another chance, just as I gave myself another chance to feel love again…

I thanked him before Livie and I stood up to leave.

"Alpha Charlotte, you look so much like your mother. Just as beautiful and elegant as your mother, the Luna of the Moon Crest Pack," Mr. Davenport exclaimed but after that, he seemed to feel that he had said the wrong thing and shut his mouth.

I was surprised to hear him said those words.

"Can you tell me more about my mom? Ever since I was a little girl, my dad told me that Mom died during childbirth, but he always refused to talk more about her," I told him.

"I don't really know much about your mother. When I left, your dad hadn't mated with her or made her his Luna yet. I had only met her once during a party," he said, much to my disappointment.

"Ohh…" I thought I could learn something about Mom, but I guessed I couldn't.

The older members were also keeping a tight lip about her, only saying Mom was beautiful, a great Luna, and a powerful she-wolf.

"Thank you for having the time to chat with us, Mr. and Mrs. Davenport. It was nice to meet you," I told them and turn to leave.

"Alpha Charlotte..." Mr. Davenport stopped me.

I turned around to see him.

"Your mom, the Luna…" He hesitated for a while before finally continuing, "She indeed died during childbirth, but she didn't die because of childbirth."

"What do you mean?" I asked in confusion. Mom died during childbirth but not because of it?

"I'm sorry, but I can't go into more details because speaking about it will break my oath to someone," he said with a guilty expression.

"It's alright, Mr. Davenport." I smiled at him and pretended that his words didn't bother me in the slightest.

Livie and I left after another round of goodbyes with her mate and his parents.

I sat in Livie's car feeling full of doubts as she drove away from the human world.

I felt there were many mysteries surrounding my pack, especially the matter of my Mom.

I closed my eyes, leaned back against the car seat, and let out a sigh.

It was no use asking anything about Mom to anyone as Mr. Davenport had said it would break his oath to someone.

I guessed the rest of the pack members were under the same oath too since they did not talk much about Mom.

But what Dad? Was he under oath too? Who was the person they swore secrecy to?

The questions burned in my mind, yet I couldn't do anything or find out any more information about it.

It was a pity since I really wanted to hear stories about her.

"Char…" Livie's voice broke my train of thought and made me open my eyes to look at her.

"It's good to begin again…" she said as she kept her eyes on the road.

I kept silent, not knowing how to respond.

I couldn't do anything about Mom's matter, but I could do something about my relationship with Hayden.

I could talk to him about it and see how he would react when I told him about my decision to give him… Us, not only him but us… When I told him how I would give us another chance.
