Chapter 43 desperate to save him

Chapter 43 desperate to save him
Hunter’s P.O.V.

Amelia Marcus Locke….

A mystery woman whose past I was eager to know.

I always got the shock of my life whenever I met her and today wasn’t an exception.

She gave birth to the pup who was the result of that assault. Not only did she give birth to him but also she has been doing everything to keep him alive.

The way she went white as soon as she heard what the doctor said showed her motherly love towards the pup.

Her reason for not giving up on him was also understandable to me.

He is his only blood family. We still don’t know her origin, but I could say that she was likely to be an orphan before.

So, I understand her desire of having a blood family, and this pup was her only salvation.

I don’t know why I followed her to the hospital. Not only me, but Onyx also wanted to ensure that everything is okay and that pup is going to survive.

After putting on the disposables, we all entered the room together. Amelia took special permission from the doctor so that everyone could see that pup at once and let him rest after that.

“Xander.” She called the pup softly when we entered the room. The strong smell of disinfectant and medicine assaulted my nostrils immediately, but thanks to the mask on our faces, it wasn’t as strong as it should be in the room.

My heart sank when I saw the pup. A frail, small body of a boy was lying on the bed, covered with tubes and pipes from head to toe. His breathing was rapid, but shallow.

The machines connected to his body were blaring hard. A doctor and two nurses were continuously doing something with his small body.

He slowly moved his eyes towards us. His dull dark green eyes lit up when he saw Amelia.

She walked hurriedly towards him and put covered his small hand with her hand.

“I am here, son. I am here.” She whispered to him in a choked voice.

Xander tried to say something, but he was too exhausted to even open his mouth.

“He was watching his favorite cartoon and was laughing when suddenly he screamed and got an episode again.” Doctor Harrison explained the situation to me in a grim tone.

“You mean to say that laughing triggered something inside his brain or in any other internal organ, causing this extreme reaction?” I asked him mockingly, raising my brow.

The doctor was also a werewolf from a pack. I watched his adams apple bobbling hard and eyes filled with fear.

Amelia whimpered and her body shook again. Arthur held her from behind. He was also in despair.

The pup was frail and weak, but I could feel that he was alpha by blood.

“His blood and his genes are the main problem, right?” I asked him in a low voice when he didn’t reply.

“Yes, Mr. Stone. He has born from two pure bloods. This made the situation more complex. The complication during his pregnancy added some more complications. So far, we managed to keep him alive, but.” He paused midway and gave me an apologetic look before lowering his eyelashes.

“I don’t know why, Hunter, but I felt a connection with this pup too. I could feel his pain, his will to stay strong, and at the same time, his wish for the pain to go away. Can’t we do something to help him?” Onyx also whimpered while expressing his feelings for the pup.

“Why is he still in pain?” Amelia asked the doctor in a cracked voice.

“Painkillers are not working on his body, Ms. Locke. You… you should be ready for the worst.” Dr. Harrison replied to her apologetically, his voice getting low with every word coming out of his mouth.

“I dare you to say that again.” I threatened him, angry and ready to kill him at any time.

He cowered in fear and immediately took a step away from me.

“I…. I w… ant to l….ive, Mom.” The pup whispered in a painful tone.

I felt as if millions of knives stabbed my heart at once.

Onyx snarled in agony.

“Please do something to save him, Dr. Harrison. Please do something.” Amelia pleaded while sobbing.

I slowly walked towards the pup on my own, looking at everyone with a frantic expression.

It was good that my face was completely covered with the mask.

Amelia was too frightened to even lift her son’s hand up. She put her head on the back of his hand while continuing sobbing.

“What’s the present condition?” I asked Dr. Harrison, my fingers moving to his ankle.

I didn’t know why I felt it, but I needed to touch him.

“Xander’s internal organs are weak because of Amelia’s physical condition at that time. His body couldn’t produce the proper blood amount, causing severe anemia, and because of his unique constitution, medicines don’t work the way they should. We can’t even give him blood because of that.” Dr. Harrison explained to me hurriedly.

I couldn’t even think about how much this pup had already endured by now.

“Mom.” He whispered in pain, closing his eyes.

“No, Xander. Don’t close your eyes.” She yelled frantically ad looked at Dr. Harrison.

At the same time, I removed my glove from one hand and grabbed his ankle.

My whole body shuddered hard. Even Onyx sucked in a breath as if we were suddenly attached to something very deep and pure.

“Xander. Please…. Don’t close your eyes, honey. You will be okay.” Amelia’s gut-wrenching cries snapped me out of my daze.

“Do something to save her, Hunter. There must be something that can help him.” Onyx almost wailed in despair.

“Wh… what’s his blood type?” I asked Dr. Harrison when I couldn’t think of anything.

“It’s O positive.” Dr. Harrison told me and I took a deep breath.

“My blood…. I am also the same blood type. Try…. Try to give him some of my blood.” I instructed him hurriedly.

I wasn't sure about it, though. It was just a suggestion on a whim. Xander's vitals were dropping rapidly and I was desperate to help him by any means.

“Your healing abilities… yes… yes… they can help Xander. It must work.” Amelia exclaimed in despair, a ray of hope igniting in her dull eyes.

“L…. let’s give her a small amount first.” Dr. Harrison suggested it, but he wasn't confident about it too.

But Amelia was ready to take this risk.

I rolled up my sleeves hurriedly when the nurse brought a syringe to me.

“But I must warn you, Amelia. Given your son’s unique constitution, injecting his blood may have a rejection too. Your son is still one rank higher than Mr. Stone.” Dr. Harrison whispered to her, but it was loud enough for me to hear.

“I… I know, b.. but I am having this hunch th… that his blood will work. It will definitely work.” Amelia replied to him confidently.
I smiled tightly but couldn't look at the pup. I was frightened that I would see hope in his eyes too.
