Chapter 17 leaving pack together

Chapter 17 leaving pack together
Amber’s P.O.V. (Continued)

“And she is not weak. If anything, she is the strongest among us.” David spoke sternly, but his confidence in me was evident in his tone.
“This is her battle to fight, and I am sure that she will be the winner in the end.” I smiled confidently and sniffed a little.
I felt lighter and calmer in the past three days.
Daniel was still not convinced, but he ran his fingers through his hair in the end and lowered his gaze.
“When will you leave?” David asked me calmly.
The question made me tremble because it made me realize that I only had a few hours with my family.
“By this evening, I will leave with their convoy,” I spoke in a shaky voice.
“Then let’s go. Let me help you pack.” Laila proposed with a faint smile.
“One more thing, Amber,” David spoke again in a firm voice when we were about to move.
I looked at him questioningly.
“We all will sever our bond with Adrian and this pack together.” My eyes widened in shock, and a gasp escaped from my lips.
“Yes. I will kill him for insulting my baby sister if I stay here. So, it’s better if we all sever our bond together and leave the pack. It’s not like we are dependent on this pack to survive.” Daniel
muttered angrily, completely agreed with David.
I looked at Laila in shock, but she smiled faintly.
“You…. You all.” I stared at them in shock.
“Family stays together in everything, Amber. The air here is poisoned because Adrian is the alpha. It’s better to stay rogue and out of this pack rather than obeying his orders.” Laila spoke with a faint but radiant and confident smile.
I felt tightness in my chest, but at the same time, I was overwhelmed too.
"You said it by yourself, Amber. This pack has never been our home. And without you, I have no reason to stay here." David continued with a calm and gentle, but firm voice.
“Now, go and pack. We also have a lot of things to pack.” David urged us with a faint smile.
Just like that, a decision has been made.
I just hope that our decision only brings good luck for my family.
Laila took me to my room while I was still in a daze.
She cupped my face after closing the door.
“You’re allowed to be scared, Amber. You are a human, not a god,” she said softly.
My lips trembled hard, and tears welled up again.
“You’re allowed to feel hurt,” she continued, her eyes warm but firm.
“You’re allowed to hate him one moment and miss him the next.” A tear slipped without any warning.
“But don’t lose yourself in all of this,” she whispered, still keeping that motherly smile on her lips.
I nodded slowly, agreeing to her words.
“Promise me,” she insisted while looking at me with a desperate gaze.
“I promise,” I whispered back.
She pulled me into a tight hug, and this time, I didn’t hold back.
I buried my face in her shoulder, gripping her as if grounding myself.
I let my tears fall freely, wetting her top on the shoulder, and she just continued stroking my hair, giving me the motherly comfort that I needed now.

David’s P.O.V.

Both Daniel and I entered Adrian’s office without knocking on the door.
He growled angrily while flipping his body in our direction, but his voice choked in his throat when he saw me.
“Not now, David.” He spoke in frustration.
“Now is the time, Adrian. You will listen to what I am going to say. You have guests in the pack; I don’t want to create a scene.” I threatened him calmly.
He shot daggers at me through his eyes but laughed sarcastically after a few seconds.
“O, really? As if your dear sister,” his tone went sarcastically high.
"Left any dignity for me in front of them. I tell you, David, you have spoiled your sister to the extent where she will be your doom.” He continued on a high note.
“Dignity? You?” I pointed my finger at him while looking at him mockingly.
His eyes threw fire while his face turned ugly in a fit of rage.
“Don’t make me laugh, Adrian. You asked a girl to be your mistress and then expect her to leave some dignity for you? What a double standard you have, Adrian. You truly amazed me.” I continued sarcastically without masking my anger.
His face went pale, and he staggered backward.
“Thanks to your stars that we have royals in our pack, or else I would have buried you ten feet under the earth by now.” The cold threat in my voice was enough to make him almost fall to the ground.
Thanks to the desk behind him, he steadied himself by grabbing the edge of the desk.
His eyes were now widened in fear.
I scoffed in disdain and took a step forward, closing the distance between us.
I was glad that Daniel was still standing silent behind me when all he wanted to do was kill Adrian right now.
“Now listen to me, Adrian, and listen to me very carefully,” I spoke coldly, locking my cold gaze with his fearful gaze.
“Before the departure of the king, you will sever all the ties with my whole family. We will depart peacefully. You go your way, and we go our way.” I continued, and his eyeballs almost popped out of their sockets in shock.
“If it weren’t for the promise that I made to your father on his deathbed, I wouldn’t have stayed this long here. So, don’t think anything nasty to stop us if you do.” I closed the distance between our faces.
Beads of sweat covered his whole face. Now he was trembling hard in fear.
“I will let the king know about you and Naisha’s so-called fated mate bond and also what you did five years ago,” I whispered the last part, but it was enough for him to lose his balance. I grabbed his t-shirt and kept him in his position.
"Pray to the goddess every day from now onwards, Adrian, that our paths never cross in the future. If it happens, I will kill you without any hesitation for what you do to my baby sister." I kept my voice loud enough to be heard by only him and me.
Adrian trembled hard again, and fear filled his expression completely.
"Am I clear, Adrian?" I asked him coldly, and he immediately bobbed his head in agreement.
I smiled coldly and patted his cheek twice before throwing him back.
His back hit the edge of the desk, but I didn't bother to stop and see him.
"Don't let me find you in the future, Adrian." Daniel also threatened him angrily.
"Let's go, Daniel," I commanded my brother without looking behind me.
I saw Naisha storming towards us, but she halted abruptly when she saw us.
"D...d....dd.....David." She spoke while stuttering in fear.
I just grimaced and walked towards the exit.
Finally, I would be free from this pack.
