Chapter 132 We Meet Again

Chapter 132 We Meet Again
Ginnie

For several seconds, I could only stare at Cassian as he stood in front of me.

The same cold eyes.

The same face that had been burned into my memories for years.

Five years ago, I had vowed that the day I would ever set my eyes on him would be his last.

And now he was standing right in front of me, smiling as though he was innocent.

“You…” My fingers slowly curled into fists until my knuckles turned white. “You’ve got some nerves showing your face in front of me.”

A quiet laugh escaped Cassian, but there was no trace of humor in it.

“Do I?”

My jaw clenched.

“You know exactly what you did, you fucking son of a bitch.”

“I've done a lot of bad things in my life.” He tilted his head slightly.“But I'm guessing you're talking about Lily.”

The moment her name left his lips, something inside me snapped.

“Don’t you ever say her name!” My voice cracked across the warehouse. “You and Kenna took her from me.”

Cassian's expression remained cold, not even a flicker of regret in his eyes. Somehow, that made me hate him even more.

Before I could move toward him, footsteps sounded behind me. Two men stepped out from the darkness.

One of them was enormous, taller than me by more than a head, with broad shoulders and thick arms that immediately made my stomach tighten.

His eyes immediately went straight to Jayden.

“Don’t you dare touch him.” I moved in front of Jayden without thinking. “Keep your filthy hands off him!”

Jayden grabbed the back of my clothes, holding on tightly.

“Angel Ginnie…” His little voice trembled. “Please don’t let them take me away.”

The huge man stopped several feet away before looking toward Cassian. A sly, cunning smirk curved across his lips as his gaze landed on Jayden.

“Take him.”

“Get away from him!”

He reached for Jayden, but I immediately shoved his arm away. His hand suddenly closed around my wrist, tightening brutally until I winced in pain.

“Let go of me!”

“Angel Ginnie!” Jayden’s tiny voice echoed faintly through the warehouse. “Help!”

“I won’t let them take you!”

I reached for him again, but the man's other hand grabbed him and lifted him from the ground.

“Put him down!”

I grabbed the man's arm, trying to pull it away from Jayden, but it was useless.

He was too strong.

Despite that, I kept fighting until the man suddenly shoved me away with one arm. My body flew backward in such violent force that I hit the concrete floor hard.

Pain shot through my side, and for a moment, the air was knocked out of my lungs.

But the sound of Jayden crying pulled me back immediately, forcing me to push myself up.

“Angel Ginnie!” His voice trembled. “Don't let them take me!”

I scrambled to my feet and ran after them. I had barely taken two steps before Cassian moved into my path.

For a brief moment, he stared at me, almost as though my panic amused him. I tried to move around him, but he stepped in front of me again.

My chest rose and fell heavily as I stared at him.

“Where are they taking him?!” My voice rose sharply. “They better not lay a hand on him.”

“There's no reason to worry,” Cassian replied evenly. “Why on earth would I hurt my own son?”

The moment the words left his mouth, everything inside me went still. My lips parted to speak, but the words wouldn’t come.

“What…” I swallowed hard. “What did you just say?”

“Jayden is my son.”

Instinctively, I stepped backward, shaking my head as I stared at him in disbelief. My mind refused to process what he was saying.

Jayden.

Cassian's son?

That was impossible.

Jayden was Varkos's son.

“You're lying,” I whispered.

A humourless laugh escaped him.

“Why would I lie about something this serious?” He took one slow step toward me. “You never really knew the truth, did you?”

I frowned.

“Knew what?”

“Kenna and I were intimate multiple times when we were lovers.” His eyes darkened. “She was already pregnant with Jayden before she got married to Varkos.”

The words struck me one after another.

Kenna.

Pregnant with Cassian’s child?

I knew exactly how manipulative and cold-hearted she could be.

But this?

This was beyond anything I ever had imagined.

“How could she do such a thing?”

“Because she’s nothing but a selfish slut.” Cassian's voice remained cold. “Kenna needed a powerful man to give her a respectable life, and Varkos was perfect. That is why she married him, knowing fully well that Jayden was my son.”

For several seconds, I remained silent, my mind still unable to process what he had just said.

For five years, Varkos had believed Jayden was his son. And Kenna had allowed him to live inside that lie.

Imagine how much pain he would feel when he finds out.

The thought made something twist painfully inside my chest.

“You abandoned your child for five years.” The question left my mouth before I could stop it. “Then why take him now?”

Cassian’s expression hardened.

“Because Jayden belongs with me.”

“He's a child for crying out loud!” My voice rose sharply. “He doesn't even understand what's happening.”

“He will.”

“You're terrifying him!”

“He'll get over it.”

My hands curled into fists.

“You’re no different from Kenna.”

The moment the words left my mouth, something flickered across Cassian’s expression. Without another word, he stepped closer until there was barely any space between us.”

“Still can’t get over Lily’s death?”

The words hit me like a physical blow. Rage surged through me as memories of her death flooded my mind.

“I will kill you myself for what you did to her.”

Another humourless laugh escaped Cassian as he held my gaze.

“You're promising a lot for someone standing in a warehouse surrounded by my men.” His voice dropped to a low whisper. “You'll only get that chance if you leave this place alive.”

“Look at you…” My eyes moved slowly over him with open disgust. “You were responsible for Lily's death, and now you want to pretend you're some loving father—“

The words had barely left my mouth when Cassian crossed the distance between us. His hand closed around my throat, my feet leaving the ground as he lifted me into the air.

His grip tightened around my neck as he lifted me higher. His glowing eyes locked onto mine as I struggled against his grip.

“I’ll make sure to give you a slow, painful death… “He leaned closer until his lips were inches away from mine. “…Just like Lily.”

Something inside me shattered when I heard him say those words. Still, I held his gaze without flinching, refusing to give him the satisfaction of seeing me beg.

Cassian stared into my eyes for several seconds. Then he released me.

My body dropped instantly, hitting the ground hard before my back slammed against a rusted metal structure behind me, sending a sharp pain through my body.

Without another word, Cassian turned and began to walk away. Somewhere in the warehouse, the sound of Jayden crying echoed from deeper inside the building.

Slowly, I forced myself onto my knees. One hand wrapped around my throat as I struggled to breathe. I grabbed the rusted metal beside me for support and stood up fully.

I needed to somehow find a way to save Jayden.

No matter what.

Because this time, I wasn't going to let anyone take him away from me.
