Chapter 31

ALEXIA

.

Asher dismissed me from his bedroom the minute he rolled out of bed.

To say I was hurt was an understatement but it was Asher so I wasn't supposed to expect anything out of the ordinary. He's Asher and not Fred.

Fred would never leave me cold after using me but Asher was the complete opposite. I don't know why I wasn't mated to just Fred. Life would've been better.

I felt used, disgusted and overly agitated. I felt like a slave. I felt worse than a slave.

I left his bedroom and came back to mine. After shutting the door, I walked up to the mirror and stared at my reflection. My hair was scattered and my lipstick was smeared all over my lips.

I licked my lips as i ran my hands along the strands of my hair to further dishevel it. A small breath escaped my lips as I pulled out the nightie from my body.

I entered the bathroom and soaked myself inside the bathtub as my mind wonders off with what happened at Asher's rooom.

How will I face Fred after tonight? What will I tell him if he asks? I feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

No, I won't tell Fred but what if he already knows?

I step out of the bedroom after washing and cleaning my body making sure to wipe off the touch of Asher from my body.

I proceeded to my bed and laid down before pulling the duvet to cover myself.

That night I couldn't sleep. I silently sobbed as I thought about my sad and miserable life. By the time i manage to rein my emotions, I am already down with a headache so I just close my eyes and force myself to sleep.

The next morning, I wake up a little later than usual. My back hurts, my legs as well as my eyes.

I am coming down with something and I know it.

I get down from bed and walk slowly towards the kitchen. My legs are killing me and I feel frail.

I enter the kitchen and Martha offers me breakfast even though I can't eat anything from the plate. I only take a few bites and discard the meal and after drinking water, I head back to my room.

In as much as I'm tired, I am also very happy about the fact that I won't be seeing Fred today. At least it would make me feel less guilty.

I enter my bedroom and lie down on my bed again. I drift off to sleep that I don't even know when Sally came into my bedroom.

"Alexia?" She pokes me as I try my possible best to snap my eyes open.

"Sally?" I call a little bit unsure that she's the one in my bedroom. She looks worried and a bit flustered.

"You're running a temperature Alexia" she said in sheer horror as she felt my face. I coughed. Again and again. I really don't know why I'm feeling sick. I'm not supposed to be sick but I feel myself getting weaker by the minute.

"Where did you go last night?"

My eyes widened at that question. Does she know? Did she somehow manage to figure it out? Or did she catch me before I got into Asher's room?

"I don't understand" I replied trying to play safe so that she doesn't figure out anything from my end.

"You weren't in your room last night. I came inside and the bedroom was empty with everything neatly arranged. Did you not sleep here?" She asked again and I blinked rapidly as I tried to think of a lie.

"I slept in my bedroom last night Sally. I took a walk at the garden because I couldn't sleep but I came back afterwards" I answered dolefully hoping that she would fall for my lies and believe me.

Technically, it's not a lie because I actually slept in my room but she doesn't have to know where I was or what I am up to. I don't want news flying around so it's better than I snap my mouth shut.

"Okay." She responds and I take out a deep breath that I didn't know I was holding.

"Have you had breakfast yet?" She asked and I nod.

"Martha gave me breakfast but I couldn't eat anything. I felt full to my stomach."

"I'll get you a wet towel and some balm alright"

"Thank you Sally" I tell her gratefully. She nods before exiting my bedroom.

I fall asleep almost immediately but she returns later with the towel and places it on my forehead then she applies a healing balm to my legs and cover me up with the duvet.

"Try to get some sleep. I'll check on you later. I have work to do" I nod slowly as I waited for her to leave my bedroom.

She does so as soon as I close my eyes and I am grateful that I have someone like Sally to take care of me in my sick state. Back home before the battle, no one really cared about me when I fall sick but Sally does everything she can to make me feel better and the thought of being loved Is heartwarming.

I fell asleep.

I don't know how long I've been out but I felt a warm breath on my neck. It was too warm. At first I thought that it was Sally and that she's back to check up on me after work but it doesn't feel like Sally.

I hands impulsively runs along the pairs of hands that is wrapped on my waist. Who could this be?

"Sally, I can't breathe!" I whisper softly but the person doesn't budge. The person remains unmoved.

"Sally?" I call again from my slumber when I don't get a response.

"What makes you think that it's Sally Alexia?" The deep voice I know too well answers back.

I turn around to look at the figure on my bed and I'm met with a pair of deep blue eyes staring at me with intent as I try my best to process what he's doing in my room and on my bedroom.
