Chapter 26 - Rejected by the Beta, Claimed by the Alpha

Axe's POV

The male warriors from my pack and many from my allied packs stand behind me as Lilac's

father and I are led into a large stone room that could have been a through room at one point.

The long abandoned building is in the middle of nowhere and it's a few dozen miles before you

would be able to reach any sort of town. It reminds me of a crumbling castle. Falling apart at the

seams, the same way I will tear this monster apart the first chance I get.

The deformed creature sits upon a stone throne, cracks threatening to pebble into dust beneath

him. I watch him with the same careful eyes he assesses me with. An enemy. My first since

finding Lilac. She had brought a semblance of peace among our pack, but I should have known

that wouldn't last forever.

"The Blood Alpha," the monster rumbles tauntingly.

The demented alpha, I want to say. The rejected alpha. The rogue.

"I presume you and your troops are ready to pledge your allegiance to my cause?"

"Yes," I lie. "In return for my mates safe return, we will all help you bring down the United

packs of America."

I wouldn't call it a smile, but the poster does something of the sort. Rampage, I think his name

was. At least before he was cursed like Alpha Vicious informed me. I planned for the worst case

scenario, just in case we all somehow ended up the front lines against perfectly peaceful

neighbors. The Vicious, Lethal, Revenge, Thorn, Menace, Terror, and Venom packs are

prepared. No army the Ex Revenge Alpha forms will stand against them, let alone the 450

wolves I brought. They're in on this anyway.

"A wonderful Ally," he gushes. "Truly. Its a good thing you aren't looking to cause trouble.

You're like your precious mate in that way," the monster says.

I can't stop myself from tensing. She hasn't been fighting back. It's a good thing because I know

they would hurt her if she did, but I can't help but wonder of she isn't fighting back because she

was more seriously wounded the night she was taken than I realized. Surely they would help her?

Heal her?

"Bring her to me," I demand.

The state in which she could be in worries me, enough so that I become antsy. I need to see her.

Revenge laughs a gargled chuckle, his half human half wolf form obviously confusing the

vibration of his comical reaction. I wonder if this is the first time he's laughed since being

cursed? It sounds like it.

"Do you take me for an ignorant baffoon? You will get the girl AFTER you uphold your end of

the bargain."

Lilacs father spits beside me.

"Bullshit! You asked for allies, now I want to see my daughter!"

His face is red by now and if this weren't such a serious matter, I might find it amusing.

This did just get complicated though. I was supposed to get Lilac right away, then launch a quick

attack against the monster, killing all who follow his cause.

"Do you honestly assume that I'm going to let you take any of my men, myself included to fight

a war in another country without keeping up your end of the deal? Leaving my mate behind

while fighting a battle hundreds of miles away is not an option," I grind out.

He has to bring her out for this to go as planned. Things will be so much more complicated if we

actually have to go to America.

"And risk you breaking the deal? I think not Blood Alpha. However, if you truly intend on

keeping your word, then you won't mind taking a blood oath? That is the only way I will accept

letting you see your mate before the deed is done."

People behind me gasp and even I'm shocked by the suggestion.

A blood oath?

There will be no turning against the monster and taking Lilac home if I do that. There are no

guarantees I will even make it back to her if I truly have to fight the Americans. They'll slaughter

us where we stand.

If I take the oath and don't comply with my promise, I will die.

If I don't, there is no garuntee that I will ever see Lilac again.

Die without seeing my mate?

Die after seeing my mate?

There's scarce faith in my heart that we will win this war, but obviously I would do anything to

see my mate one last time.

"I will take a blood oath."
