Chapter 29 Between Desire And Danger

Chapter 29 Between Desire And Danger
Lena’s POV

I glanced over at Zara. She was fast asleep on her bed, her breathing steady. I hesitated for a second before walking toward the window.

I pulled the curtain aside and froze.

Damian.

He was standing outside, just a few meters away from the building, his hands tucked into his pockets.

Then he looked straight at me. My grip on the curtain tightened. He lifted his hand slightly, gesturing for me to come down. My eyes narrowed immediately.

Seriously?

A wave of irritation rushed through me.
This boy had a lot of nerve. Without thinking too much about it, I dropped the curtain and turned, grabbing my sneakers.

I stepped out of the dorm quietly, making sure not to wake Zara, and headed downstairs.

The cool night air hit my skin as soon as I stepped outside, but it did nothing to calm the irritation bubbling inside me.

I walked straight toward him.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” I snapped.

Damian didn’t flinch. If anything, the corner of his lips lifted slightly, like he had expected that reaction.

“I mean no harm,” he said calmly.

I scoffed. “Showing up outside the girls’ dorm in the middle of the night and leaving creepy notes is your definition of no harm?”

He shrugged lightly. “You came down, didn’t you?”

I crossed my arms. “Don’t flatter yourself.”

For a moment, there was silence between us.
“Don’t you ever get tired?” he asked.

I frowned. “Of what?”

“This place,” he said, glancing around the academy grounds. “The constant pressure. The suffocating routine.”

I paused. Because… he wasn’t entirely wrong. My lips pressed into a thin line.
“It’s a school,” I muttered.

“It’s a cage,” he said.

That made me look at him properly.
For a second, I saw in his eyes the same frustration I felt sometimes.

I exhaled softly.
“What do you want, Damian?”

A small smile tugged at his lips again.
“Let’s go for a drive,” he said. “We’ll be back before anyone notices.”

I blinked. “You’re serious?”

“Completely.”

I shook my head immediately. “No. That’s a bad idea.”

“Is it?” he tilted his head. “Or are you just scared?”

“I’m not scared,” I snapped quickly.

“Then prove it.”

I stared at him. A small part of me hesitated. Then the thought of getting out of this place, even for a little while, felt… tempting.

I sighed.
“This is stupid,” I muttered.

“But you’re still considering it,” he pointed out.

I shot him a look. Then I said, “Fine. But we’re not staying long.”

His smile widened slightly. “Deal.”

I frowned. “How are we even getting there?”

Instead of answering, he gestured toward the side of the academy. I followed his gaze. And my eyes widened slightly. A car.

“You’re kidding.”

“Nope.”

“You brought a car into the academy?”

“Perks,” he said simply.

I shook my head, but a small, reluctant smile tugged at my lips.
“Unbelievable.”

The ride was quieter than I expected.
I leaned back slightly, staring out the window. “You’re quiet,” Damian said.

“So are you,” I replied.

He chuckled softly.
“You’re different,” he said.

I glanced at him. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

“It means you don’t belong in that place.”

I rolled my eyes. “You don’t even know me.”

“I know enough.”

I turned to face him fully. “What do you mean by that?”

He glanced at me briefly before saying, “I know what you are.

My heart skipped. “What?”

He kept his eyes on the road.
“You’re an Hybrid.”

My breath caught.
“How do you know that?” I asked slowly.

A small smirk appeared on his lips.
“I just know.”

“That’s not an answer.”

“It’s the only one you’re getting.”

I stared at him, trying to read his expression.

“Relax,” he added. “Your secret is safe with me.”

I didn’t respond. I didn’t know if I should believe him. Before I could say anything else, he spoke again.

“What about you and Adrian?”

I blinked, caught off guard. “What about me and Adrian?”

“You’re dating, right?”

I let out a short, irritated laugh. “No.”

He raised a brow. “Really?”

“Yes, really.”

I turned my gaze back to the window, crossing my arms.
“I’m not dating Adrian.”

But deep down… A small voice whispered otherwise. I clenched my jaw slightly, ignoring it. We didn’t stay out long.

True to his word, Damian drove us back before it got too late. The academy gates came into view, and I exhaled softly.

As the car came to a stop, I opened the door and stepped out. And that’s when I saw him.

Adrian.

He was standing right at the gate, his posture tense, his eyes locked on me.
My heart skipped. He looked… angry.
No. Worried.

“What are you doing out here?” he demanded, his gaze shifting briefly to Damian.

I frowned slightly.
“I can handle myself.”

Damian stepped forward slightly. “Maybe you should…”

“Don’t,” I cut him off quickly.

He paused.

“I’ve got this.”

For a second, he hesitated. Then he nodded once and walked past us, disappearing into the academy.

Now it was just me and Adrian.I crossed my arms.
“Why do you care so much?” I asked.

He didn’t respond. I took a step closer.
“If you feel nothing for me, then why do you act like this?”

My chest tightened slightly. I moved even closer, my voice softer this time.
“How do you really feel about me, Adrian?”

“I like you,” he snapped.

My breath hitched.
“I love you,” he added, his voice lower.

My heart pounded against my chest.
“My wolf…” he continued, stepping closer, “it burns for you.”

Heat rushed to my face. Before I could say anything, he kissed me, softly.

And then… deeper. I kissed him back without thinking. His hands found my waist, pulling me closer as the kiss intensified, turning desperate, hungry.

My fingers tangled in his shirt as I leaned into him. All that mattered was him.
He pushed me gently against a tree, his lips still on mine. His hands moved up my body, cupping my breast. His fingers played around my nipples.

A soft gasp escaped my lips as his touch sent a shiver through my body. Everything felt overwhelming.

Then suddenly… Rain. Cold drops fell against my skin, breaking the moment.
We both pulled away, breathing heavily.

For a second, we just stared at each other.
Then he laughed softly. I laughed too.
“I’ll see you around,” he said.

I nodded, still trying to catch my breath.
Then I turned and walked back toward the dorm. My mind was a mess.

What just happened?!

Making out with someone who had publicly humiliated me? Rejected me?

I shook my head slightly. Nothing made sense anymore. As I walked, I suddenly heard footsteps behind me.

I frowned, picking up my pace slightly.
The footsteps followed. Closer and faster.
My heart started to race.

I stopped abruptly and turned around.
“Who’s there…”

Something hit my head. Hard. Pain exploded through my skull as the world spun violently.

The last thing I felt was rough hands grabbing me. A cloth covering my head.
And a voice.

“You’re coming with me.”
