Chapter 136 Burning Anger

Chapter 136 Burning Anger
ELARA’S POV

After Beros left me alone, it gave me time to think about everything. I realize I had been selfish. All I had been thinking about was ending the war and saving everyone, but I failed to realize how others would feel if I got hurt in the process. I failed to see the little family I had gathered.

The few people that put their trust in me.

“Don’t beat yourself up about it” It was Alicent walking up to me, I had sat still in the hall for hours, not moving.

“What?” I was confused. What was she talking about?

“Beros, the argument, I heard it all”

“Oh”

“Yeah, don’t beat yourself up about it, he’s –“ she appeared to be thinking, concentrating too hard on something “he’s still recovering, still in shock, you know, he’s been through a lot”

I knew what she was saying. I knew all that, and I wasn’t ready for anyone to come scold me and tell me things I already knew, and it seemed like these people failed to realize I was the moon deity. I am the moon deity.

“I’m not here to scold you or anything, I don’t have the right to” she raised her hands up.

“But what I do know is that you have a lot of people that love you and care about you” I calmed down as she said this. I was already beginning to get pissed.

“We all love you and we all want what’s best for you and for everyone. We know how you feel about Nyxar, Beros does” she paused, as if rethinking what she wanted to say “he – he just doesn’t want to lose you again, and I can see it, we can all see it”

“What do you mean?” I turned to look at her, all this while I hadn’t spared her a glance.

“Well, he’d sacrifice anything for you, we can all see that” she shrugged.

Little did she know he had already sacrificed everything for me.

“He would do anything for you, support you in anything, he even got captured, he just doesn’t want you sacrificing yourself”.

“I don’t know what your history with him is” she continued “but what I do know is that there’s something deep inside he’s scared of, and I think I know what it is” she paused, letting her words sink in before she continued.

“He’s scared of losing you, I mean, everyone is, but Beros? He would rather the world go up in flames than lose you – again”

“You’re lucky to have someone like him, by your side, for this long. Understand him, don’t go throwing yourself into situations that can easily be fixed, not when you always have someone waiting for you”

“But I don’t know what to do Alicent, I’m confused” my voice was barely a whisper.

She let out a deep breath before speaking again. “You know, when you told me about the dream, when we realized we had a connection from the past. I could have easily brushed it off, given you your ring and sent you on your way, but I didn’t. I chose to accompany you, do you know why?”

I shook my head. Where was she going with this?

“I learnt early in life to cherish the time we have with the ones we love. I wasn’t about to let a second change go. A second chance at family, a first chance at having a sister, one I had dreamt of for so long, I decided not to let it go”

She reached for me and placed a hand over mine. “So, the time you have with Beros, cherish it, cherish him”

“Of course I cherish him”

“He doesn’t know it yet. I mean, he knows you love him but he knows you would never pick him first, meanwhile he wouldn’t think twice about you”

Was that true? I mean. I would pick Beros first. I loved him. I tried to object but she continued speaking.

”And honestly, I think Beros is fine with that. From what I see, he just doesn’t want to lose you, three thousand years is a long time to be in love Elara, just think about it” and with that, she patted my hands and walked out, leaving me alone to my thoughts again.

I stayed there till the moon shone in the sky before deciding to head to my room.

Once in my room, I lay on my bed without a word, the words of Alicent still rang in my head. Was it true that Beros felt like I wouldn’t choose him if the time came?

I mean, I know I had make some mistakes but I would choose him. I love him more than anyone else, but at the same time, I couldn’t let the world burn when I could do something.

But did I have to sacrifice myself to prevent world from burning? That was the question right there. I was always quick to jump in and sacrifice myself without needing the help of others.

But now that I knew I had enough people willing to help, maybe I could relax, maybe I could sit back and actually allow them to help me.

I felt the bond, trying to reach Beros, but the bond was closed off. He must have gotten so angry.

I decided to go and look for him. After all, it was my mistake. I needed to apologize.

He wasn’t in his room, he wasn’t downstairs. No one had seen him. I decided to venture into the woods, maybe he had decided to cool off in the forest.

As I walked in, I kept on reaching for the bond, but nothing. Where had he gone?

Suddenly, I felt a surge of anger, hot fiery anger through the bond. Beros.

I began running in the direction of the pull and when I got there, everywhere blazed red and hot. Everything was on fire and Beros was in the middle.
