Chapter 35 The Fight
Chapter 35 The Fight
~ ELI’s POV
I stood back, in shock. I couldn’t believe my eyes. Malik told me Joseph would be fine, but standing here and listening to Dominic, I could tell he lied. But why did he lie? How could he lie so easily?
As they kept on going, punching each other, Dominic insisted on talking about someone he referred to as “her”
When Dominic mentioned that the only reason Malik married me was because I look like “her” his ex-mate.
Was she the one Jessica was constantly talking about the other day? Do I really look like her or is there something else going on?
As I kept thinking about it, Dominic kept talking but almost all of his sentences were blocked by punches from Malik.
He didn’t have it. He was upset and I could easily tell that he wanted nothing but for Dominic to shut up but I don’t want that. I want him to keep going, keep talking. I want to know everything because now, it feels like the reason Malik married me was far from what I thought and it had everything to do with his ex-mate and nothing to do with him wanting me.
Dominic went on, coughing out blood as he said "Eli’s face, her body, even her eyes. Every single thing is the same as hers. You won’t get what you want Malik. I won’t let you take Eli’s life to bring back her."
"What?" My heart dropped as I stared at him in shock. It didn’t sound like something Malik would do but at the same time, it doesn’t sound like a lie.
"It’s nothing, he’s just bluffing," Malik said
Dominic laughed "Keep lying to her. But remember that she’s not dumb, sooner or later she’ll see it for herself as well. You won’t get away with this Malik. You’re the reason the first one died, I won’t let you be the reason Eli dies too."
Malik punches him again and again until he falls to the ground.
Malik’s eyes snapped to me "Leave Eli."
I stared, confused. He growled "Go upstairs and stay. I have some things to take care of."
"What do you mean?"
"I’m not going to repeat myself so just go!" He yelled.
Of course, I did. I quickly rushed up the stairs. When I got to the room, I closed the door but I could still hear them bickering, fighting, and yelling as if they were sworn enemies and not brothers.
Dominic seemed to be bent on Malik not ever letting Malik get his way on me and it makes me wonder if what he’s saying is even true.
Is that what Malik’s plans are for me? Would he really do that to me?
I know Malik is a monster and he’s extremely selfish but I would never guess that he’ll take one’s life. And even Joseph, Dominic mentioned that Malik has something to do with Joseph's death. I don’t want to believe that because it doesn’t sound like what Malik would do.
I mean, I know he hates Joseph and it’s evident he’s not worried for him because if he was, he wouldn’t have lied about him that easily and acted like nothing happened. But is that even enough reason to think Malik has something to do with Joseph’s death?
The more I thought about it, the more my mind pounds. I don’t know what exactly happened but whatever it is, I need to find out because if Malik had something to do with Joseph’s death, he can do anything to me.
The room door suddenly burst open, Malik stepped in looking furious, his face covered with bruises, and his hand.
The moment his eyes met mine, it softened.
He marched towards me. When he reached me, I quickly took a step back. His eyes twitched, he stepped closer again, I stepped backwards and when he did for the third time, I was about to step backwards when he grabbed my arm and pulled me to him.
"Why are you scared?" He asked, his voice faint.
"I’m not," I said trying to avoid eye contact with him.
He gripped my chin firmly and said "You are. You can’t even look me in the eyes Eli." There was a hint of pain in his voice but should I believe that? After everything Dominic had said that could be the possible truth.
"Where is Dominic?" I asked realizing I wasn’t hearing his voice anymore
"He passed out but he’s gonna be fine. I didn’t kill him."
"And Joseph?" I asked now looking at me.
His grip on my arm softened, his eyes suddenly filled with tears he tried to hold.
Malik didn’t reply for almost half a minute, he was just looking at me and then finally he said "For what he did to me, I wished for him to die but I would never kill him myself,"
He let go of my arm and moved away. Walking to the cupboard, Malik pulled out a first aid box.
He started pulling out some of the supplies to clean his wounds. The way his hands were shaking, I could tell it was difficult for him to do it by himself, so I stepped forward.
"You need help dressing the wounds?" I asked.
He hesitated at first, then let me.
Malik sat on the bed while I cleaned the wounds on his face. He didn’t look at me once, nor did he flinch even when it should have hurt.
Deep down, I could tell he was hurt. I could tell something was bothering him. Maybe it was his fight with Dominic, or maybe it was because he lost his father. Either way, he wasn’t in the best mood.
When I finished with his face, I dressed the wound on his hand.
"Do you have any wounds on your body you want me to help you with?" I asked.
"You can’t do anything about that," He said. He stood up, grabbed his jacket from the hanger, and walked away.
