Chapter 32 Tired
Chapter 32 Tired
~ ELI’S POV
“She’s my wife, she’s my world.” The words kept ringing in my head. Does he really mean it?
I’ve been thinking about it for thirty minutes and I’m finding it hard to believe that Malik actually cares about me. He’s never acted like he does before but now suddenly he does and it’s great… right?
Or maybe he’s pretending but why would he pretend when I wasn’t even there? I wasn’t supposed to hear him say that.
He cares… I guess. He definitely does care otherwise there is no way he’ll just say that and not mean it.
I should meet him, I should talk to him.
I walked out of my room and headed to the study room with a mug of coffee. Since he’s in his study room, I am sure he’s tired and would probably want a coffee.
As I got to the door, I recalled the moment he threw coffee at me. I hesitated, contemplating whether or not I should go in or not.
After some thought, I walked into the room. And just like I thought, he looked tired of working.
"What are you doing here?" He groaned
I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. It’s like he’s allergic to being nice. He just can’t be nice for a single moment.
I smiled at him "I bought you coffee."
"Why? I didn’t ask for it."
Of course you didn’t dummy. I just want to be nice to you. "I know but I just thought of bringing it to you because you seem tired." I put the cup on the desk.
He glanced at the coffee and then at me. For a moment he hesitated then he reached to take it, I quickly moved away, "Please don’t throw it at my face. If you don’t like it I’ll make you a new one."
His brows raised in shock. He stared and then he said "Why would you think I’ll throw it at your face? I’m not a monster."
It’s easy for him to say that. I don’t believe he’s a monster "But you threw it at my face the other day."
He sighed heavily "That was different, I was angry and you were on the way. I’m sorry."
My eyes widened. I blinked and then looked closer to make sure that I wasn’t mistaken. "Did you just say you’re sorry?"
He frowned "No!"
"Yes, you did. I heard you. You just apologized to me."
He rolled his eyes "Well, don’t get used to it. I’m not saying it again."
"That means you won’t do anything that would make you say it."
"Whether, just leave." He waved his hand dismissively
I scoffed and sat on his desk "Why are you trying to make me leave?"
"I’m not trying, I am telling you to leave."
"That’s so rude, I’m not going anywhere." I folded my arms
He sighed clearly tired of me "Look, Eli, I have a lot of things to do so please get down and give me space to do that?"
"I can help you," I said
"I don’t need your help. I can handle this on my own."
"Well, I wasn’t asking. I’m helping you." I said. I am only doing this because I am bored and also I want to annoy Malik a little bit. It’s fun to see him fuming with anger.
Even though I hate it when he’s angry, I’m honestly starting to get used to it.
"So, what do you want me to do?" I asked "Help you arrange the files? Clear the desk? You name it and I’ll do it."
"I want you to leave."
"That’s not part of the list."
"There is no list, just leave, please."
I smiled "Today seems to be a great day. I mean first you apologize and now you are pleading with me. That’s great." I grinned
He rolled his eyes as he stood up to face me "Eli, I don’t want to get mad at you so just get off my desk and leave. I need to work."
I leaned closer to him as I shook my head "No, I won’t do that."
He slammed his hand against the desk "What is wrong with you! Just get off the desk."
"You look cute when angry." I teased
He frowned "I don’t look cute, I look scary and you should fear me."
I laughed "No, you’re not scary at all and I can’t fear you."
He leaned closer, his eyes narrowing. It looked like he was trying his hardest to make me fear him but I just couldn’t. I leaned over and smiled at him "See, I can’t fear you. You’re not that scary looking."
"Don’t make me do something I don’t want to do to you so if you know what’s better for you, you’ll leave right away." He said
"I’m your wife. I’m your world. You won’t hurt me." I said
His eyes twitched as if he was shocked that I heard what he said.
"I heard what you said that’s why I came here with the coffee. Thank you for standing up for me."
He didn’t say a thing for a moment. His eyes stayed on mine for a brief moment and then he casually said "Now can you leave?"
"Why are you so bent on my leaving? Are you worried that maybe I’m bothering you?"
He scoffed "No, you’re not."
"Then what is the problem? Tell me?"
He didn’t reply immediately, he just leaned closer until our faces were mere inches away from each other.
"What are you trying to do?" I asked moving backwards but he quickly pulled my hair back and made me face him.
"Look at me." He said. His warm breath fanned my face.
I tried to turn away but he didn’t let me, he made me face him. His eyes flicker from my lips to my eyes, he doesn’t say anything but I can tell he’s thinking of a lot.
"I want to go," I whispered
A smirk played across his face as he murmured, "You’re not anywhere." He drew me closer, his breath warm against my skin, leaning in until our lips almost met. Just as the world seemed to slow around us, the door burst open and Emma stumbled in, her eyes shining with tears.
Malik’s head snapped toward her. "What is it?"
"Dad’s not breathing," She whispered, a single tear sliding down her cheek.
