Chapter 26 Facing Him

Chapter 26 Facing Him
~ MALIK’S POV

I know exactly what he’s doing. And I won’t let him get away with it.

Joseph is the worst person to be here. He’s like a devil disguised in an innocent looking man’s body and the fact that Eli can’t see through him is really upsetting me.

He’s acting like he’s the best person… Mr nice Guy and trying to pin me as the villain when in reality he’s just another devil trying to find his prey.

I exhaled heavily trying to calm my nerves. I’ve been really upset lately and it only got worse seeing Eli and Joseph together probably talking about me and fake promising to protect her from me when in reality he’s the one she should be protected from.

I looked at the necklace he gave her. I wish I could use it to strangle him till he loses his breath.

The necklace isn’t just an ordinary one. He gave her something that meant too much to me but at the same time nothing. He knew the original belonged to someone close to me, someone really close and he knew very well that I’ll be triggered to hurt Eli when I see it. He knows all of that but he still gave her, obviously because he wants to show the bad side of me.

On the same side, I’ve been doing everything I can to stop myself from reaching.

I tossed the necklace in the trash and headed to meet my pack member outside. I plan to tell them to go ahead with training without me.

Now that Joseph is in the same house as Eli, there is nowhere I’ll leave her presence. I have to be here at every second of the time because only then will I be able to protect her from him.

When Joseph first came, I had to leave, I hated the sight of him so much that I couldn’t handle being around him but i know now is different. I can’t just run off like that, I need to stay back and tolerate him because if I don’t, he’ll get his way around Eli and I’ll regret it for good.

Outside, I found Conrad and Steven waiting for me. When I approached them Steven spoke "Should we go now?"

"You both should go ahead without me. I’ll be skipping this one and tomorrow morning as well but I need everything and everyone to be intact. I don’t want any drama or any problems. Do you understand that?" I asked

Steven and Conrad glanced at each other in shock. For a brief moment, I was met with utter silence before Conrad spoke "But you never miss training Alpha Malik. Is there any problem?"

"Why are you asking?" I growled "Will you helping me solve any of the problem if I tell you?"

He went silent

I scoffed "Just as I thought, you can’t do anything. Why don’t you just go and try handling what I asked you to do instead of asking me questions that won’t benefit you?"

Conrad looked hurt for a second but I didn’t care. I have so much going on with me right now to care about his little feelings.

I dismissed him and Steven and then head to go back inside but as I reached to the door, my feet’s stopped momentarily when my gaze landed on Joseph standing by the door.

He had a crooked smile on his face.

My heart started to race. Looking at him always reminds me of his actions and with Eli in my mind now, it makes it worse because he can do it again. Maybe he’s planned it already, maybe he’s ready to do it and maybe I’ll be too weak to get in his way and stop his evil plans from happening.

Joseph started to walk towards me but with each step he takes closer, I walk backwards. I shouldn’t be scared of him. I told myself I won’t be, that I’ll face him and I’ll fight him and seek revenge for everything he had done to me but seeing him right here, standing in front of me, looking at me with the same crooked smile he had when he hurt “her” I am unable to do anything.

As I took another step backwards, he growled "Stop!"

His voice vibrated through the air making me flinch in horror.

His eyes stared dead at me, the same way they used to.

I could feel my body telling me to run, to never show up again and just be far away from him but my wolf wanted to face him, to get it over it once and for all.

If I want to protect Eli from him, I have to do this. I must face him.

When he started to walk closer to me. My heart raced faster but I didn’t flinch, I stood there, grounded until he walked up to me.

"Why have you been avoiding me, son?" He asked as if he didn’t know the reason

I didn’t bother responding, I just looked at him, with anger and desperation to hurt him like he hurt “her”

He sighed heavily now looking like he actually cares and regrets all his behavior "It’s been years Malik, get it over with."

He said it as if it were easy to just forget about everything that happened and move on.

"I need you to leave," I said, my voice cracking but still clear

"You know I didn’t come here to leave immediately. I came here to see you." His hand moved to touch me but I quickly pulled back.

He looked hurt and sighed "Malik."

"I know why you’re here so save this drama for someone that’s dumb enough to believe you." I said, "But just so you know, I will never let you get close to her so leave otherwise I will burn you alive." I walked past him but I hear him following me behind.

"That’s not a way to talk to your father." He said

I turned to him in shock. I can’t believe he’s saying that "I already told you. You’re not my father anymore so stop trying to be one."

That made him stop in his tracks. I’m glad it did.

I walked into the house and closed the door hoping he’ll take that as a sign and not come into the house but unfortunately he didn’t.
