The next morning, Erica made sure to come to the hospital as early as possible in order to check on Amelia despite the fact that she went home very late the previous night.

Coming to the hospital, the receptionists and the nurses who already knew who she was didn't stop her; instead, they only greeted her as she made her way into the hospital, and with that, she greeted them back before heading to Amelia's office and taking the tools she needed to check up on her, and with that, she went to the ward in which Amelia was and started checking up on her.

As Erica was still checking up on Amelia, she slowly opened her eyes, and on seeing that she had woken up Erica, smiled before heaving a sigh of relief.

"Sleepyhead, thank goodness you are finally awake," Erica said to Amelia as she opened her eyes.

"What really happened, and why the hell are you checking up on me?" Amelia asked Erica with a faint tone.

"Well, I'm checking up on you because you are at the hospital," Erica said to Amelia.

"Really? What happened?" Amelia asked Erica, who was now sitting down beside her on the bed.

"Don't you remember?" Erica asked Amelia, who tried recalling what had happened, and after some minutes, the memories of everything that had happened came back flooding in her head like a flashback.

"Yes, I remember. It was Mara; she sent some men to abduct me. I should have been more careful after she called to threaten me," Amelia said to Erica.

"I think you are right, but what did she do to you when she abducted you?" Erica asked Amelia.

"Well, first they tied me up in a building, and later on she showed up and told me that there was a bomb in the building and that the building would blow up with me inside in less than fifteen minutes, and because of the substance they injected into me after abducting me, I couldn't even shift into my wolf form and escape, and it seems like I even passed out even before the fifteen minutes," Amelia said to Erica, who smiled at her.

"Why are you smiling? It's not even funny. Do you know how frightened I was?" Amelia asked Erica.

"Come on, Amelia, I'm not laughing at you, okay? Also, according to what Adrian told me, there wasn't any bomb in the building; she probably told you that just to scare you. If not, the main reason why Mara abducted you was just to make Adrian know how it feels to lose someone who you love so much. If not, I don't think she wanted you dead, and even if she wanted to kill you, she wouldn't have succeeded; Adrian would have surely rescued you as usual. Only if you knew the stress he went through yesterday just to find you. He was even ready to sacrifice his life yesterday just to rescue you," Erica said to Amelia, who sighed heavily.

"And where is he? At least I need to thank him for coming to my rescue even if Mara wasn't planning to kill me," Amelia said to Erica.

"Well, Adrian is no longer in the human world; he has returned back to his pack. He left earlier this morning," Erica said to Amelia.

"What?" Amelia asked Erica with a surprised tone.

"Yes, Amelia, it seems like he has finally found another mate from another pack, so he had to return to Wolfenwood Pack earlier this morning for the mating ceremony," Erica said to Amelia.

"What? Amelia exclaimed in surprise once again.

"This is some kind of a joke, right?" Amelia asked Erica.

"No, it's not, and also, why do you seem so surprised? I thought you were no longer interested in him." Erica asked Amelia.

"What the hell are you talking about, Erica? He was going back to his pack for a mating ceremony, and you didn't even stop him? "Ooh my goodness, Erica, where is my phone?" Amelia asked Erica, who was staring at her with furrowed brows.

"Why are you looking for your phone? What do you want to do?" Erica asked Amelia with furrowed brows.

"Call him, of course, and tell him to cancel whatever it is he wants to do," Amelia said to Erica, who was still staring at her with furrowed brows.

"And why the hell do you want to ask him to cancel his mating ceremony? Weren't you the one that said countless times that you weren't interested in him and even asked him countless times to move on with his life?" Erica asked Amelia.

"Yes, I did, but I changed my mind yesterday after I was abducted. I was planning on getting back with him if I made it out alive," Amelia said to Erica.

"Well, it's already too late, my dear friend. Adrian has found someone else, and his mating ceremony will be taking place in less than three hours from now, and we both know that there's nothing else you can do if he has marked another she-wolf," Erica said to Amelia.

"What time is it?" Amelia asked Erica.

"Eight A.M.," Erica said to Amelia.

"Perfect, that's enough time for me to get back to Wolfenwood Pack and stop the mating ceremony," Amelia said to Erica as she rushed down from the bed.

"Enough time to do what?" Erica asked Amelia with a surprised tone.

"You heard me right, Erica," Amelia said to Erica as she grabbed her phone and Erica's car keys that were beside the phone and ran out of the ward.

"Hey, wait for me," Erica said to Amelia as she chased her from behind.
