Chapter 52

(Damian's POV).

For more than five years I've been searching for Juliette's whereabouts. I was so frustrated that I didn't know what to do because every attempt I made was fruitless.

If only that time could have come sooner, I might have been able to bring Juliette back and see my daughter grow up. But I was too late to see Juliette because she had gone away from me again.

After getting news from Kaye that Juliette was indeed in Xander's pack. I went straight there, but Juliette was no longer there. For all I know, she escaped, helped by Agatha. That made me not hurt her because she had helped Juliette. After all, she had told me that she was being held hostage by Xander. And because of her request too, I didn't kill Sam.

Maybe it was her own decision to leave me. Because I had killed her parents and she hated me. But I didn't want to take the risk of letting her go from there and she would get hurt because of my enemy.

So, after I found out that Juliette escaped, I kept trying to find Juliette's whereabouts. Until a few months ago, Kaye finally found Juliette. He saw her in the city while he was trying to find her and he secretly followed Juliette.

I was planning to meet her right away, but I again thought of keeping her secret. I knew she would be angry with me and afraid she would run away again, so I watched her from afar.

I felt happy and sad when I saw that my wolf pups had grown up well, but I was not by their side to fulfill my role as a father. I hope one day my relationship with Juliette will improve so that I can take care of them. Get back together and become a full family.

When I was told by Gabriel that a wolf from another pack was trying to harm Juliette, I immediately ordered my men to rescue her. Luckily I didn't arrive too late. By the time I reached there, Juliette had almost lost her life and I had managed to save her and Ares.

"You can't help it," I told her. I didn't care that he would hate me, but I wanted to protect his life.

"What if I refuse?" she glared at me. "If I die, you die too. You only did it because you didn't want to lose your life, right?!" she shouted.

"What are you talking..."

"I'd rather die at their hands and you can die with me and suffer in hell. It's much better than me having to live together with you!" she shouted hysterically.

"Are you willing to let Ares live alone?" I asked, provoking her a little. Even though I knew what I was doing right now would make her hate me even more. I don't care.

"I'm much more unwilling if she knows that you're her father. I don't want her to know that she has a murderer for a father. You are a monster!" she pushed my body roughly and glared at me.

"He is my son. I would never hurt him. If you won't come back to me, then I'll have to take Ares with me," I said firmly.

"Are you crazy?! I'll kill you if you dare take it from me, Damian!" she screamed. She tried to get out of bed, but I held her back. "Let go of me, you bastard! I want my son!" she screamed hysterically.

"Calm down!" I snapped, shaking her body. “I won't do it, so come back to me. If you don't like it, consider me you are defending your own life to raise Ares. When he grows up, I swear I will let you both go."

She calmed down. Her eyes looked at me with a look of disbelief, but there was hope in her blue eyes.

Damn...

The beautiful eyes that I've always longed for. The fact that I dream about every night. I missed Juliette so much that I felt so crazy. She was right in front of me, but I couldn't kiss or hug her to my heart's content.

"You swear?"

"Yes. I swear that I will let you live as you wish. And I will not interfere with you. So, come back to me and let me make sure you're safe in my care," I said, trying to reassure her.

"How can I trust you?"

"You can kill me if I break my promise. I will let you kill me, Juliette," I said. I stared intently at her glazed blue eyes.

"I want to see Ares," she said.

"Very well. I'll call him over here. Stay on the bed, okay?" I asked and she nodded without saying anything. I reflexively wanted to kiss her forehead, but I immediately realized and distanced myself. Feeling disappointed and sad, I walked out to meet Ares who was in the living room with Gabriel.

I saw that Ares looked calm despite the horrible things that had happened to him. And I could feel that he was going to be a strong and great Alpha one day, just like me. He is my wolf cub, so I know his abilities. But I hoped he would never inherit the destiny I had because I wanted him to live a normal life like any other Alpha.

"Ares," I called out.

Gabriel and Ares immediately turned to me. I approached Ares and he walked over to me.

"Dad? How about mom?" he asked me.

I smiled as he called me Dad. Although I had heard it several times, I still felt like it was a dream. The few times I went to see him secretly while Juliette was away and said that I was his father, it was fortunate that he understood it quickly and accepted me without hating me. He really resembled me when I was a child.

"She's doing well. And she wants to see you," I told him.

I took his hand and led him to Juliette's room. When we went inside, he immediately ran to the side of the bed and sat beside Juliette. I stood watching them.

This sight... the sight I had always looked forward to long ago. And finally, I've gotten them back.
